A terrible, tragic death. Hopefully her bravery inspires more women to follow in her footsteps, rather than having her demise scare them away from it. The Afghan public's reaction will determine if the shooters succeeded or failed.

Another cold-blooded, dark, brutal, backwards step for humanity. RIP.

Its the women in Afghanistan, Pakistan etc who are really treated abominably. And yet overwhelmingly its always boatloads of young males who illegally enter western european countries from those hellholes, bringing the same culture of mysoginy, grooming, violence and rape to their new “homes”.

Can't really looking at this country as "civilized".

But the US is walking away from the Afghans. Without US and other western forces along with the Jordanians on the ground to combat the Taliban and Daesh, help the Afghans protect their citizens and institutions from them and better train their own security forces Afghanistan will descend back into the dark days of the 1990s and once again become a haven for terrorists mounting attacks on the west.

Desert... The best time for women’s rights and girls education in Afghanistan was during the Soviet times. The US and its allies put a stop to that.

Civilian deaths in Afghanistan from US aircraft and drone “mistakes” were up 300% last year. Few will be sad to see they US fix its tail between its legs and scarper off in shame.

But the US is walking away from the Afghans

20 years isn’t long enough? Should America annex Afghanistan and make it the 51st state so Islamic militants can be made to state murdering women who want freedom? How about Europe taking the next 20 years! No doubt Merkel is concerned about the plight of women in the country.

20 years isn’t long enough?

You break it you fix it. Have you fixed that which you broke yet? If not, then you’re not done. It has nothing to do with time.

Only if you believe the propaganda put out by the Taliban and Daesh. "Weddings" were all the participants are young men. No bride and groom to be seen, no family members, just hard young men. All the guests drive pickups with machine guns in the bed and carry firearms. Some wedding. The truth on the ground is not the lies the terrorist groups spout. You allowed yourself to be fooled. The kill chain on those missions requires multiple people in leadership to visually ID the target using the several high powered optical devices on these UASs. A legal team then has to sign off on the attack before weapons are released. The Taliban and Daesh won't tell you they use hospitals as command posts knowing that western forces are very reluctant to attack anything anybody might consider a medical facility, regardless of how many armed men are observed entering and leaving and how many technicals are parked outside. Same things with your "weddings".

So you remember 9-11 or have you already, cough cough, "moved on". The Taliban and AQ started this war. You fight your enemy until they are defeated or they defeat you and you surrender. Leaving without defeating the Taliban is surrendering. That is what the US is doing in Afghanistan, surrendering in defeat. Glad that makes you happy. For me, it makes my blood boil. I was too old and already disabled from my first time around to go back in but I wanted and still want a piece of those sobs for what they did to us on 9-11 . Giving up and surrendering is cowardice.

11,000 NATO troops remain in Afghanistan

When the US goes home so will NATO. After all, NATO is there because the attack was against the US. They are there to support the US. If the US withdraws its forces so will the rest of NATO. When the leader leaves so do the troops. That is how leadership works. This administration is afraid to lead. They cut and ran in Syria, threw the best ally the US had in the region to the wolves and now they cut and run from Afghanistan. Disgusting.

You break it you fix it.

That’s the inane way of thinking that has kept America militarily involved in a foreign nation for 20 years. The Taliban broke Afghanistan by allowing Al Qaeda to operate freely. Once the US took out Al Qaeda and the worst of the Taliban they should have Left. Obama should have pulled the troops out immediately after Osama was killed.

Dear Desert..... The US has been setting itself up for defeat in the Middle East long before 9-11. That was the result of years of misadventure.....

All that people taking responsibility for America’s actions is frustrating to the unethical.

The Taliban broke Afghanistan by allowing Al Qaeda to operate freely.

Americans refusing to take responsibility for their invasion of other nations is a major part of the reason why the world has lost respect for America.

That is very oddd thinking. Afghanistan has been “broken” for centuries. It is hardwired to be a hopeless hellhole. Its just the way it is. The US didnt break it. The US is doing well to finally get out and leave the Afghans to do what they do.

The US certainly tried to offer the Afghan people a helping hand. But we see the result.

Third world hellhole. Always will be.
