America is in a covert war with China and the poor residents of Hong Kong are the victims. Beware Taiwan...

It is China that has been in a covert war against the United States since about 2002. The poor residents are purely victims of the Chinese dictatorship. Has nothing to do with the U.S.

Hong Kong voters need a type of Bill Of Rights. At the next election, that list of rights to protect the individual from the state should be included on the ballot.

While at it, all Beijing-appointed/chosen people put on the ballots would need to show they have the same level of popular backing as the non-Beijing people running for office. If not, pull their names off.

On Thursday, constitutional and mainland affairs minister Erick Tsang warned that those "organizing, planning and participating" in the primary might commit offenses of succession, subversion and colluding with foreign forces under the new security law, according to interviews given to a select few pro-Beijing newspapers.

Erick Tsang should admit that the security law is aimed at tramping down on the freedoms of the Hong Kong people!

Erick Tsang is being either pragmatic or cowardly depending on how charitable you want to be.

The people of Hong Kong have shown incredible guts in this situation and this is not the first time, but I just can’t see how they can get out of China’s jaws.

Anything with the words pro-democracy in it is now forbidden.
