So Japan is not the only country that uses imported low paid foreigners

That is not news. Many doctors in NHS system are also of Indian origin.

Decades ago, when freshly graduated doctors from India started migrating to the US and UK to practice, they were denounced as traitors in India until the Indian government realised that the remittances they receive would be far higher than the taxes they would have collected had the doctors stayed back.

50% of nursing students drop out before registering. Increasing numbers are leaving the register permanently. Half of all new nurses going on the register are recruited from abroad. None of this is new, nursing shortages are chronic, but unless the government acknowledges why we have these issues things will get worse. The elephants in the room - pay, working hours/shift patterns, workload, lack of staff facilities (many places do not even have a staff/break room), and violence, bullying and harassment on a daily basis. I discovered last night that security staff at public venues get paid more per hour than I do.

Sad to see that nurses are not part of the badly paid, too hard jobs that immigrants do because the nationals refuse. This means the government is not supporting it to make it a first class profession as it should be. At least the immigrants get a chance to do a job that can be fulfilling (just with miserable pay and terrible work conditions).
