Israel stole Palestinian land what do you expect?
konjo4u
Total delusion.
lincolnman
Do the Palestinians have a case to make that they are forced into enclaves, deprived of freedom, and treated as second-class citizens? Absolutely....
Is attacking innocent civilians and taking hostages to include children the way to make that case? Absolutely not...
Hamas and Hezbollah deserve everything that's coming to them...but innocent Palestinian civilians don't.
Israel needs to ensure it goes after the terrorists and not regular Palestinian families...

Define "Palestinian land". According to Hamas and PLA maps, all of Israel is "Palestinian land". Is that your definition?
bass4funk
Cant steal something that was never yours to begin with.
Raw Beer
How many more decades must the Palestinians wait to get any justice? The theft of Palestinian land and abuse of the Palestinian people is not new...
lincolnman
The Palestinians had many chances to negotiate for peace - they never had a leader strong or courageous enough to take it. Each was more worried about hanging on to power than strike a deal for peace with the Israelis.
And you certainly don't get any sympathy from other nations by taking children as hostages....

IMD has published the names (and some photos) of 26 IDF killed.
The most significant loss is Nahal Brigade commander Yonatan Steinberg , the first Israeli colonel killed in combat since the Yom Kippur War.
Among them are privates, including four females, the commander of a communications battalion, the deputy commander of the Magellan unit, as well as company and platoon commanders or various rank.

They were spewing BS back then and spewing BS now about ownership of Arab lands. So No it was never Jewish land, They were Arab land. Did You purposely forget ,about David and Israelite leave Egypt to support your narrative. Ho Hah Hezbollah.

Telegram has a video of a captive, bloodied female IDF soldier barefoot with hands zip-tied behind the back being bundled into a vehicle clearly somewhere in the Gaza strip.
JJE
A second video shows what appears to be separate captive female IDF soldier sitting on a couch drinking from a bottle of water in what appears to be a house.
Hamas militants captured Israeli Brigadier General Nimrod Aloni, IDF commander of Gaza area forces and published a photo of him barefoot in his underpants.

Complete and utter nonsense, as per usual.

And does that make you happy or something?

Israel stole Palestinian land what do you expect?
What nonsense - The British stole Palestinian land so the Jews could have a home.
Cards fan
Yes, and then the Israeli kept taking more and more Palestinian land.
Raw Beer
Yeah, this started with the British giving away something that wasn't theirs to give. But since the Balfour declaration, the Israelis have never stopped stealing more land.
dagon
You can go back to David and the Philistines or the Balfour Declaration but there you have it. The rationale for the initiation of hostilities is religion.
How about giving atheism a chance and do away with ethnostates using religion for political cohesion and power and often resorting to violence?

Hamas published a 3 minute video showing the border fence being breached with explosives and car loads of militants pouring through. Apparently it was breached in at least three separate locations.
Also footage of a Merkava IV tank being knocked out by rockets, other vehicles including Namer IFVs disabled. Fortified border posts being attacked by ground and drone, with militants in the posts. Video of fighting in towns and Hamas militants driving around, destroyed vehicles littering the roads. Zip-tied Israelis in the trunk of a car.
There is confirmed rocket, mortar and artillery fire on the northern border with Lebanon.

Israel will retaliate by killing 10x as many Palestinians and by restricting them even more is usually how this plays out.
lincolnman
Sounds like what's happening to the Russian invaders in Ukraine...
bass4funk
And we can see what they would do if they had that land. Well, they can forget the two state solution, that’s just not going to happen now and possibly forever.

Israel is battling to regain control of eight areas.

They will rest assured

Prove it.
Fighto!
Serious questions now being asked regarding the strength and preparedness of the Israeli Defense Forces. Footage is coming in of several of their APCs having been commandeered by Hamas terrorists, a police station being captured - along with many ranking IDF officers captured - some dead.
Gaza should and will certainly now be razed - but it's a case of too little, too late. Israel really dropped the ball.

There are those who will do something wrong because they are told it will show they are virtuous.
There are those who will do something right despite being told it will show they are wicked.
Which sort are you?

Numerous photos are emerging of captured and bound IDF soldiers in captivity or being frog marched into the Gaza Strip. Reports indicate at least 40.
Israeli news sources report that Egyptian mediators have informed Israel that in case of any invasion of the Gaza strip, Hezbollah will join the fight.
Israeli authorities announced security forces began the forced evacuation of residential areas in a four km zone along the border with the Gaza Strip.
Judging by the ongoing evacuation, the Israelis are creating a springboard for a ground operation in the Gaza Strip, but also removing unnecessary witnesses and Palestinian sympathizers from the border area. Videos of heavy equipment being moved and troop deployments (including a video by the IDF) are out there.
On the northern border, so far they are limiting to calls on local residents not to stray far from shelters. Cross border fire ongoing.

And what is that?
And there's the rightwing solution: genocide.

.look at American anti black laws and the apartheid of South Africa. rights. Jesus weeps.... all people have to fight for their rights to live and exist in respect and human dignity.... Gaza is not that...

But at a human cost. The most Israelis killed in 50 years.
Haaa Nemui
until this attack, I would have said the same. This just makes it so much harder to respect their cause. Those calling for boycotts of Israeli products and services have a far more difficult job now.

It was a big mistake to bulldoze everything else in Middle East, but interest of Israeli and a few billionaires here and there, by Abraham Accords. It is most unfortunate that Palestinians have reminded the world, with a means of military action, that they exist under the occupation and want to be liberated. But the world needs to realize, once again, it's time take action towards a solution, hopefully in creating two states.

there goes that “far-right” thing again…
garymalmgren
there goes that “far-right” thing again…
Oh, I can fix that one for you. "Israel's moderate progressive inclusive government."
bass4funk
That is the price one must pay in war as tragic as it is for freedom.
Ah_so
No. This is far too obvious. We should carry on killing ourselves over our interpretation of a fictional being.

Fighto!
No it will not. The IDF of course has the capacity to turn all of Gaza into a smoldering parking lot, but for political reasons it can not do so. De facto, all of the 2 million inhabitants there (and not just the now abducted Israelis) are human shields that prevent that.
So what we are going to see is a replay of what we have seen many times before.... a prolonged IDF bombing campaign, with the Hamas media claiming the blown-up buildings were full of civilians, and the IDF saying they were Hamas stations. Bet on it.

This is about the History of the Israelites and it is relevant to this event. 5000 years ago Egypt kick out the Israelites. 1400 years ago the Israelite were kick out of the Middle East by Muhammad and his followers but all other religions could stay . The Israelite found refuge in Spain until the Israelite interfere with supporting the Muslins In the war of the Moors. Spain won and kick out the Israelite but allow the losers to stay. The Israelites spread thought out Europe until the 1930 when Soviet gave 38,000 km2 of land east of Bicol lake call Birobidzhan. That was not good enough and spread back into Eastern Europe. 1940 Germany try killing all the Israelite in Europe and failed. The Israelite then invaded the Middle East with help by the USA and the UK. 68 years latter. Not one country that borders or near Israel does not except Israel as a state that as not change for the whole 65 years. They didn't except Israel as a state then and still don't today. It is the only religion that can not get on with other diaspora. Like all these national can be wrong. It seem were anywhere the Israelites settled they make emermies. Fact.

While I feel deeply sorry for the people forced to live in Gaza and the innocent civilians caught up in this, WTF did Hamas think was going to happen?
Of course Hamas thinks that this is a holy war, and it wants an escalation in violence - innocent casualties on their own side are justifiable as a result
RichardPearce
The myth that those violently resisting a Crime Against Humanity are morally equal to those perpetrating that Crime has been popular amongst certain kinds of people many times in history.
A survivor of the Holocaust who termed those she witnessed hiding behind this myth as 'looking from the side' stated she considered them worse than those perpetrating the Holocaust.
Trying to hide what you are behind that myth is like trying to hide from the world by covering your eyes, it only blinds you, not the world.
Strangerland
I generally am way more sympathetic to the Palestinians cause than Israel’s. But these attacks are an offence to humanity and should be condemned by all. Hamas is hurting their own cause worldwide with this attack, as they are very clearly in the wrong on this.
Ah_so
How did you come to this conclusion? Israel took, or were granted, lands that were always occupied by Arabs, or at least the last 1300 hundred years. I'm not sure how far you think it is just to go back in determining who's land somewhere is, but 1300 years is on the long side.
Who's land was the land your home in the US sits on 1300 years ago? Can their descendants forcibly take it tomorrow? After all, Texas and California were only taken from Mexico less than 200 years ago.
So if you are going to justify claims based on early mediaeval history, you need to apply these principles consistently.
Strangerland
Yeah. It would be nice if the far right ceased to exist.
But until they so, Israel’s leader is far-right.
bass4funk
Again, you think Hamas is going win? The only thing they are doing is the inevitable and bringing about their own destruction, this kind of inexcusable act of war will give them nothing but martyrdom and that’s all regardless of how many Israelis are killed.
wallace
The price paid by both sides will be high. The killing of innocent people.
Tamarama
What about when you shoot children in the street for throwing rocks???
itsonlyrocknroll
Hamas/ Hezbollah militant extremists, Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel Likud party violent extremism are two sides of the same coin.
The result of such insecurity embedded generation after generation is war for all to witness in horror.
The innocent civilian population, families children will suffer the consequences.
Tamarama
I just don't see how anyone who knows even a little about this situation cannot comprehend how constant violations, repression, subjugation, stealing, illegal building, human right abuses etc etc by Israel since 1967 has created the hot mess in this part of the world. People aren't born extreme, but organizations like Hamas exist because of what Israel has done to the Palestinians over a very long period of time.
itsonlyrocknroll
Hamas/ Hezbollah are not freedom fighters, they are blood soaked terrorists dedicated to an extreme Islamic fundamentalism.
Benjamin Netanyahu must shoulder a proportion of blame for actions that have driven the mayhem/conflict unfolding claiming lives levelling buildings in Gaza.
I shudder to think what the future holds for the middle east.
Haaa Nemui
Tamarama, you are right, this has been building up for a long time. I don’t think that makes it an acceptable act though. To me, it’s like 9/11. Not acceptable at all, but it should have been expected and there are other areas in the world where we will see similar in the near future. Unfortunately, innocent people on both sides suffer.
Mark
The Palestinians have the right to break the Blockade and end this Miserable Israeli occupation of their land by any means possible. 75 years has passed since the Savage Israeli soldiers, policemen, settlers. thugs and anything in between running across Palestine stealing Land, properties, destroying homes, and anything that stands in their path in the name of their God while the so called Free World aided them and did nothing to stop them.
The Palestinians Have every right to fight for their Land and their dignity.
Ah_so
You answer my post with something completely different. You claimed that the lands that Israel now sits on never belonged to the Arabs.
I showed how you were incorrect and you did what you always do, deflect and change the topic rather than tackle the logic head on or admit you were incorrect.
But to answer your question, I don't think Hamas is going to win, and I also support the right of Israel to exist (just as I support the right of California and Texas to remain part of the USA).
Strangerland
No. Mass execution of civilians is never appropriate, and Hamas is clearly in the wrong on this one, in spite of the travesties perpetuated on them.
bass4funk
Israeli government just told their people that live near the Gaza border to immediately evacuate. The IDF will go in and do a door to door kill these Hamas militants. So it’s going to get extremely nasty and bloody from here on.
Mark
When you got NOTHING to lose an all bets are off is the norm.
Israel's retaliation and aggression is the norm in the daily lives of the Palestinian people.
