Not a climate change denier but these hysterical projections are getting boring...
"Harvard biologist George Wald estimated that “civilization will end within 15 or 30 years [by 1985 or 2000] unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.”
“Most of the people who are going to die in the greatest cataclysm in the history of man have already been born,” wrote Paul Ehrlich in a 1969"
"By 1975 widespread famines will begin in India; these will spread by 1990 to include all of India, Pakistan, China, and the Near East, Africa. By the year 2000, or conceivably sooner, South and Central America will exist under famine conditions….By the year 2000, thirty years from now, the entire world, with the exception of Western Europe, North America, and Australia, will be in famine"
Etc...

Some of the hardest hit areas of the world could be in Africa and South America, so people leaving those areas are expected to hift north to areas that might not be hit as hard by climate change.
Why the titans of capitalism, either the free market variety (supposedly found in the 'west') or state variety (China, Russia, etc.), and their politicians have allowed things to worsen, when they have long known about the problems, says a lot about what the global masters think about the planet and how they regard the majority of the population. At least in most democracies voters can have the ability to vote in politicians not totally beholden to the ruling caste, and vote out those controlled by the ruling caste.

The fossil fuel industry was subsidised directly to the tune of US$800 billion globally in 2020, roughly split between direct subsidy and tax breaks. Global profits were US1 trillion. If we include the costs of the consequences of their business, which everyone else pays for, from pollution to global warming, subsidies are estimated to amount to US$5.9 trillion. Who would want to give these kind of generous gifts up?
Blacklabel
Made up projections based on ridiculous speculation.

in my experience 'they' mostly can't accurately predict what the weather's going to be tomorrow.

Five times compared to what? These scaremongering articles seem to multiply in intensity and volume whenever the COP carnivals roll around.
A few more years of listening to this corrupt, lying windbag is indeed intolerable, so it's best to just ignore him as he jets about lecturing on the evils of flying.

That's still not "nearly five times." Who writes these headlines? I guess it doesn't matter when you're not accountable for it. Decades of wildly inaccurate predictions about climate doom have made me and countless others skeptical about the incessant pronouncements of our downfall, yet the legacy media keep repeating them as if they had a skerrick of credibility.

yeah I would think 99% of people that age now will be dead by 2060, heat or not.
ian
Yeah seems no one actually believes
Blacklabel
so how does 6 billion dollars in climate change reduce inflation again?
Blacklabel
Yeah if you or I are 65+ years old now I would not be worried about being alive in 2060.
spoiler alert: we wont be alive.
ian
Hahaha now that's really funny
wallace
Plenty of people on this site will be alive in 2060. Because we won't personally be alive we shouldn't care about the future.

It's fine, the solution is there, the adults just don't want to implement them. Did the state conduct a survey to determine your local tax rate?
I for one don't think anyone is really looking for research to tell them more about climate change. They are looking for the next tornado to hit their local area.

Science deniers everywhere..
They love to keep burning fossil fuels as a Neanderthals..

I'd like to know what you're burning and what your consumption habits are.
