I'm in the south of France but the Atlantic side - it's slightly hotter than usual and that. is. it.

Carpentras normally has summer high temperatures hovering around or a little above 30 degrees, so 44 is quite a bit more than 'slightly hotter than usual'.

'Highest ever June temperatures' are not 'slightly hotter than usual'.

In the UK, temperatures are currently in the mid-30s. When I lived in the UK, mid-20s counted as a glorious summer day. I never, ever, experienced temperatures over 30 degrees until I came to Japan.

Maybe the sea breezes off the Atlantic are keeping your part of the country relatively cool. Lucky you.

People collapsing and dying is not 'media hysteria'.

Villevieille, a village in the southern department of Gard

Department?

but hey, say the climate change deniers, don't worry about all this global warming stuff... it's just a left-wing conspiracy, don't you know?

Mother Nature has decided some areas of France are gonna be 45 degrees for the time being. That is all.

France is a big country, Cleo. By European standards anyway. I'm in the south of France but the Atlantic side - it's slightly hotter than usual and that. is. it.

21 years and counting, this is mainly media hysteria...

We are used to this kind of heat in the summer in the south of France.

The average high temperature in Nice in the South of France in summer is around 27 degrees. That's a far cry from 45+ degrees.

It's hard to be used to the kind of heat that is record-breaking.

Claiming that people are used to this kind of temperature seems more like climate change denial.

We are used to this kind of heat in the summer in the south of France. it seems more like hysteria from the media.

But at least JT has finally given up on the yellow vests.

Climate has been changing for generations its all part of a natural cycle.

I don't think it would be a surprise to learn there are natural cycles in the earth's climate. But we also shouldn't be surprised if the effect of those cycles is worse when there is a higher concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere.

Carbon Dioxide is only 0.04 percent of the atmosphere that's 400 hundred parts per million, and of that 400 parts only three percent is contribution from mankind which is 12 parts per million

0.04 percent may sound small, but the key question is what is the likelihood of infrared radiation leaving the earth encountering a CO2 molecule. If you consider that if all the CO2 in the atmosphere were in a single layer, that layer would be over a meter thick, I think we can say that's a lot of CO2.

I'm not sure where your "three percent" figure comes from. I understand that human activity accounts for about 3% of all CO2 emissions. But most of the emissions are re-absorbed and don't remain in the atmosphere. It's the increasing amount of residual CO2 in the atmosphere that is of concern, and the argument is that the increase seen since the start of the industrial age from about 280ppm to 400ppm is largely due to to human activity.

Scientists warn that global warming linked to human fossil fuel use could make such scorchers more frequent

Really! that last time the something of this size was in 2003, that was 16 years ago, its showing up as a cycle in the weather patterns happening every few decades.

Record temperatures in France, killer summers on the other side of the world in Japan... but hey, say the climate change deniers, don't worry about all this global warming stuff... it's just a left-wing conspiracy, don't you know?

Its typical of the Global Warming Cultists to deny the fact that when its pointed out as one bad season in a couple of decades, Carbon Dioxide is only 0.04 percent of the atmosphere that's 400 hundred parts per million, and of that 400 parts only three percent is contribution from mankind which is 12 parts per million - No I am not going believe something so small is going to cause such major problems - Climate has been changing for generations its all part of a natural cycle.

don't worry about all this global warming stuff.

With theocracies like Saudi Arabia, Iran and others led by all-powerful authoritarians claiming the fossil fuels under their respective grounds are 'gifts' granted by their creator, with Russia led by an authoritarian who knows his and his hand-selected oligarchs personal fortunes are tied to fossil fuels, with Trump leading a regime backing his nation's oil corporations, with Xi leading a regime whose economy consumes ever increasing amounts of fossil fuels, look for even greater amounts of fossil fuels to be burned and climate change related problems to get worse.

And for the oil barons, sheikhs and their financial backers to even more aggressively attack the scientists whose research and findings show human's significant contribution to climate change.

Stay safe. Good luck.
