ROFL really how? I mean considering already the federal law states that public funds can't be used to pay for an abortion unless it is incest, rape, and or the mother's life is in danger. Stop spreading lies and hyperbole.

The right wingers and the Catholic Church won't be happy until abortion is completely unobtainable in any circumstance. THAT'S what this fight is about. Health care for every American is just a vehicle for them to push their anti-woman agenda. I'm surprised they haven't brought up the "immorality" of the birth control pill yet.

If this DOES pass and abortion becomes nearly unobtainable for a majority of women in America, I desperately hope they strike down the recent amendments to conscience clause laws. The ones that state a pharmacist has the right NOT to fill your b.c pill prescription if he has moral objections.

The religious right has no place deciding what I should do with my uterus and I am getting sick of them passing laws that directly affect my life in severely detrimental ways. Their actions are pathetically transparent. The abortion/contraception battles in America have little to do with babies and everything to do with control over a woman's body.

Things like this make me happy to be an ex-pat. The pill may be unpopular in Japan, but I can still get it here and if worse comes to worst, I can even get an abortion. It's sad when I hold more reproductive rights in a foreign country (as a foreign woman, of course, the situation would possibly be different were I Japanese) than in my own. My right over my body SHOULD be an absolute and it disgusts me to see neanderthals trying to yank my rights out from under my feet.

You do realize that the debate is over whether or not a government funded program should pay for an abortion. Abortion is already legal across the board, the issue that remains is who should pay for it, either she pays for out of her own pocket, has private insurance pay for it and or also have a government program pay for it. The issue here is that people don't want a government program/tax payer money paying for an abortion. If she wants an abortion that is fine but she will have to use her own money and or use a private insurance to pay for it.

I honestly don't understand why people think that this debate about abortion right now in this bill is about legality of it.

One way or another you are going to pay for it anyway. The abortion is the cheaper way out. Paying to raise and educate children is far more expensive.

Yeinats, abortion IS legal across the board. I support "right to choose" but where do we draw the line? Women have complete control/decision-making power as to if a baby is born or aborted and men are expected to be obedient and offer financial support. This is unfair in itself but to now say that a women's reproductive activity is a civic concern that requires tax support like keeping the electricity running or repaving streets with potholes is just too much.

On the flip, since you feel the way you do, you do know there are people in the current admin that are trying to push child birth limits, like China has... do you approve of telling a woman how many kids she should have??? There is a lot of movement on that right now.
