Their country, their rules, right? Except CCP in mainland don't live in HK yet they make HK rules.

Whoever supports China don't know what freedom is.

Free Hong Kong! Boycott Beijing 2022!

Fighting against a brutal dictatorship is honorable work.

Unlike Xinjiang and Tibet , the world knows exactly what China is doing.

More power to her and I hope the likes of her lead to collapse of the communist regime in China.

Masked and muzzled, she faces a serious choice as to how she lives from now on. The Fates will be watching.

The prison authorities will have made their conditions very, very clear to her, and she will be under close surveillance.

What would you do in her position?

She has a trial on further separate charges coming up. (Not mentioned in the article.) She will not want to give them any pretext/excuse for coming down harder on her next time.

inspector Gadget suggests the UK above, but being fluent in Japanese, if she were ever again allowed to travel abroad surely she would choose Japan, no?

And as soon as possible she will come to Japan for a hero’s welcome just because she speaks Japanese. And stay here. Student visa probably.

She is also fluent in English so the UK and elsewhere are options as well.

Communist China has just released the Angel of Democracy for show. If the world wasnt watching, who knows what would have happened to her.

She is a hero. Come to Japan and become Japanese. Continue your freedom fighting from a safe and democratic nation.

These people need to get out of HK while they can.

UK has promised to resettle those over 23 (approximately 3-4 million). Japan should absolutely accept the young ones in as immediate "Special Permanent Residents". But these Hong Kongers had better get out soon, before HK is locked down completely and movement between nations is banned.

What's the bet that she now seeks asylum in the UK.

I think Agnes Chow remains a prisoner even as she is released from formal prison. The CCP will watch her all day every day. She will not be allowed to leave Hong Kong legally under any circumstances. If she tries to escape she will be sent back to prison and charged with more "crimes". She will probably never be allowed to have any kind of job beyond break back labor cleaning or working in a factory. i don't think any western country will be able to convince the CCP to let her leave unless some other country is holding a Chinese national the CCP wants back badly enough. While her parents are alive her life might not be awful but when they pass with no income and all opportunities blocked by the CCP life will be hard indeed. The CCP destroyed everything that was good in China, destroyed all of their morals. Now the CCP is intent on crushing the soul of Hong Kong and turning them into copies of the wretched people in the rest of China.

Being so popular and loved in Japan made her a traitor, in the eyes of the Beijing authorities.

Her passport must be on custody.

Her only way out is Ghosn style.

Pls think about what China would consider as “ good behavior “.

...and who really cares...?

She is one of the most important persons in China/Hong Kong today. The world is watching her.

Can she be smuggled out? No way China lets people leave now

She won't seek asylum in Japan. Just look at the count of approved asylums in Japan. I wouldn't want those odds.

CCP-Chinese - ruling by fear. If Hong Kong still had freedom of speech, she would be talking up a storm, conveying everything that happened while in custody, including the threats to her family who will not leave HK. Young people don't understand that the state has lots of power of intimidation. This applies everywhere. Just that places with free speech laws also will have a press that can use their platforms to apply pressure if someone it wrongly jailed.

Wei Wei took time to learn what the CCP-Chinese deemed as allowed. When was the last time we heard anything from him or he left the country? That is Ms. Chow's future and it was explained to her over the last 6 months.

She already has an asylum offer from the UK and it's best that she take it. Nonetheless, HKers must continue to RESIST the CCP's illegal administration and their yes-men.

The Fates will be watching.

If anywhere, she will choose the UK for a number of reasons:

Apparently she was a holder of a Britich National Overseas passport, but chose to renounce her citizenship when running for the HK legislature. She has a much closer connection to the UK than any other country.

The UK is clearly very brassed off with China for breaking most of the 1997 handover treaty, which guatanteed HK a high level of autonomy under the One Country - Two Systems. They have offered a clear path for close to 3 million HK citizens to become citizens of the UK.

The UK is far more receptive to refugee claims than Japan.

Japan will be hesitant to extending any long term residency to Agnes if these is a risk to trade.

The trick will be getting her out of HK first.

I’d like to see her come to Japan and try to do the same as she’s been doing in HK! Would Japan entertain such outspoken activists…its a resounding no!

I find it very sad that Xi felt so threatened by Hong Kong that he felt he had to demolish their small attempt at democracy. Hong Kong was not a threat to Chinese stability, or to Xi's dictatorship.

HK People are not lazy, they are generally hard-working tough individuals... that is exactly what the UK needs now, not the Indians that they have at present.

released on good behaviour ? Or for less admirable behaviour as her ex brothers in arms get sentences piled on. For some reason.

she surely started out as a freedom fighter and democratic supporter but i think she has been looking out for number 1 for quite some time now, contrary to the others who keep up the good, but hopeless fight.

Has she learned some lesson now? Which countries she has chosen will be the next news of her. Either Canada or Australia, it's not gonna be UK i guess.

Anyway, the baton belongs to China, as always.
