Regardless of her politics, I don't her for retiring after what she's been through.
I bet she doesn't retire to PRC, though.

One communist stooge replaces another communist stooge. No big deal, other than she was the first one at the helm when Hong Kong went all to hell. She'll be famous for that anyway.

She makes it sound like as if it will be REAL elections!!!
Fighto!
Good riddance. Lam is an enemy of freedom, human rights and democracy. Problem is the next administrator also appointed by the Communist party will be exactly the same.

She has not done well with covid this year - a complete mess, although HK is heading to herd immunity. But she was right in putting a stop to the violent riots with the thugs (egged on by western men with no connection to HK but decided to go there anycase to stir up trouble). I still have that video of the man being doused in gasoline and set on fire by these young thugs burned into my mind. UK is welcome to these criminals.
Paul:
As opposed to practically NO elections during colonial HK? OK.
Gambare Nippon:
That's not your business. You stick with your own wonderful politicians.

I do not see the Chinese arm up her back in the photos but she is a puppet
Mocheake
The next puppet already has its strings attached. Too bad for Hong Kong.

Typical response of the anti-democracy/pro-authoritarian hordes, especially those that freely criticize other nations but are unable to see the tiniest flaw in their own, probably because they know the tiniest criticism of their own government could result in some form of punishment.
Regarding 'sticking with your own politicians', I expect those who say that will refrain from making comments on politicians in western democracies. "Unless their bosses tell them to do so."
The Avenger
Time for Pooh-bear to install his next puppet. Poor Hong Kong.

Not too surprising, while she had her moments people tend to have a lot of recency bias with political figures. Her handling of Covid is probably something she will be remembered for even more than being at the helm during the riots, and she did not handle covid exceptionally well. Particularly compared to the rest of the country.
To be as fair to her as possible, it is a situation precious few world leaders have handled well, so she is not alone in that.

The woman has too much baggage and her bosses in Beijing have another puppet on a string.

Just tell us when Lam’s finally gone and who the ‘chosen’ replacement will be.
Speed
Total sell-out.

Western-trained Ukrainian neo-Nazis from the Azov Battalion were there a few years ago, stirring up trouble.

Most of Hong Kong hate the introductions she has brought in under her Chinese boss orders.
Suppressing free speech and allowing ones to be sent to China under dubious charges to vanish or under gentle talks to change their minds to support China.
Allowing false charges to any who would oppose her (and China) in elections and there fore stopping them from being candidates for elected government positions.
And many other things she has done for China and NOT for the people of Hong Kong.
Nibek32
What a joke. She was the puppet for china from the beginning and now they have no use for her, so they told her she is out.
Regardless, all Hong Kongers hate her guts for ruining their lives and wouldn’t vote for her.
Such a cool city transformed for the worse in 2 years.

Carrie has done a great job, the city is back to normal order after Jimmy Laid and his clique were put behind bars!

Britain shouldn't allow her in after all the damage she's caused. Not even for a weekend tourist visa.
We will never know whether she was a true believer or if Beijing was holding extended family or threatening extended family. Her place in history is sealed as the main person who lead to the destruction of Hong Kong.
Beijing is responsible too, just from a distance. They've effectively caused the blame to rest at Lam's feet. They got their way without the stink on their hands. The puppeteers work will be hard to undo. They didn't have much choice. All that freedom inside China couldn't be allowed. It would give too many middle-class Chinese ideas. Ideas that spread and disagree with the CCP are the most dangerous thing to the CCP.
Desert Tortoise
Oh no, admit her by all means. The arrest her and put her on trial for crimes against humanity.
Porkorosso
Not to worry, the CCP will pick a fine successor for her.
