"Benny the Demon" (Nickname given by Hong Kong people) should apology to the public for his role of causing 6 years of social distrusts and chaotic situation! Much of his distorted ideologies and despicable actions was worth of more than 16months of imprisonment!

It really shows that you have no idea what is going on in HK.

Nobody is calling him that, he is well respected. He was a prof. of Law in HKU, been associate dean of the faculty of law.

In a statement he confirms that he has no grudge against the University as the decision has been made by "higher instances".

What are the chances his lawsuit against the school for firing him will get a fair hearing? After all, if his actions happened before the law, then holding him accountable now wouldn't be legal. Hong Kong did have rule of law at some point, right?

@Peter Wright

Fired for violent protest whereas in the USA a professor was fired for jokingly listing 52 US cultural sites for Iran to bomb, including Mall of America and the ‘Kardashian residence’.

That's what communist do, take revenge on everybody who dare to express different opinion...

China has been an authoritarian state since ancient times.

Most younger HK people speak some degree of English, naturally, they should move to the English-speaking countries

They are smart and multilingual. Most would pick up Japanese quickly, and are culturally very close to Japan. Workaholics also. It would be a massive boost to Japan to try and attract 500,000, if possible.

Another little nail in the coffin of the CCP and another name to be inscribed on China's future honor roll.

No, the nickname is used by CCP sympathizers such as yourself.

Don't insinuate that Hong Kongers call him this. Benny Tai is a well respected academic in Hong Kong who has spend nearly 30 years with the University of Hong Kong.

He has mentioned that he doesn't blame the university for his firing, but that authorities above the university have pushed for the decision. And we all know who that authority is!!!

Ganbare Hong Kongers!!

So sad about Hong Kong. It seems there is little hope left for them. Japan should let as many come here as want to.

I agree. Japan should issue "Special Permanent Residence" to all Hong Kongers under the age of 23 (UK is taking all those over 23). These people are highly educated and workaholics and will fit seamlessly into Japan. I see them as doctors, lawyers, scientists and entrepreneurs in Japan in the next decade.

Japan will have to be quick with a great offer though - these HK youth will be shopping around for the best offers of passports worldwide.

Disgusting. Hong Kong authorities - "government", courts, universities, police, public service - are truly despicable, and should be shunned and isolated by the democratic world. They are simply puppets of Communist China, and no-one with any decency should have ANY dealings with HK.

The likes of Benny Tai and millions of other freedom-loving Hong Kongers will emigrate to democratic nations like the UK in the next few years, greatly enrich them, and leave HK a worthless, polluted swamp run by Communist criminal gangs.

As long as the CCP controls Hong Kong the person fired will have a hard time making a living. I doubt that they will even be aloud to leave the country.

Does CCP know that they started from a university?
