Maybe they can bolster a few cities, but doesn't seem likely enough troops will be placed to kick out ISIS from east Syria.

Lovely thought, but establishing such a peaceful, stable Syrian state wouldn't be in the interests of an awful lot of middle-eastern and western regimes....

It's time to intervene in Syria and set up a UN-run state where people can live without being bombed by Assad and murdered by ISIS. The people in the middle east have demonstrated that they are unable to govern themselves so let's implement a new style of colonial rule which will be immune from tribalism and venal, thieving politicians. The Arab people will finally have a secure state with freedom of expression, gender equality and religious freedom. The only thing they won't have is the ability to run their state themselves. Given that so many Arabs are fleeing to the west, where they will also have no vote, self-rule clearly isn't a priority for them.

There is growing media reports, although officially unconfirmed that 'thousands' of Russian 'military' personal, heavy weapons and support logistics are on the ground in Syria preparing for full scale ministry intervention.
Scotland, Wales could theoretically absorb a unspecified number of refugees however infrastructure, housing, health care, education etc would need considerable investment. By the end of 2016 England will have an astonishing 433 people to every single square kilometer, the highest population destiny in Europe.
There has to be a long term solution found to deal with this exodus, oil rich neighboring gulf states must contribute with funding and refugee centers. Eurostat has numbers of over 100,000 asylum seekers entered Germany in August alone. Germany does have the land density to absorb, Poland too, remaining EU states would need to provide long term revenue support. It would be foolhardy not accept that integration is not going to become a serious issue. Without the necessary processing raises the question of security.

I'm just astonished at just how stupid the German government is according to some posters. Armageddon is just around the corner and they just can't see it.
It would be much better for the Germans to have cross-eyed, semi-literate warmongers creating havoc in this part of the world. This socialist Eurotrash just don't get it.
warispeace
The US should be taking many more thousands of the refugees since the Neocons from that country created the conditions for this mass exodus.

I pray that Eastern Europe rejects Merkel's quotas and they all pile into Germany. Only when Germany realizes their error will this flood end.
HonestDictator
Well, depending on how things go I think the EU is going to learn what the words "over capacity" means quite soon. Plus the extreme culture clash that is going to happen when most of the asylum seekers refuse to assimilate to their host countries laws and society. Some lessons can only be learned the hard way it seems.

Yeah, just look at these poor refugees in Hungary, which borders Syria and is the first country they step foot in that isn't at war. These poor people are literally starving.

I only hope that certain people here knows that there is a war where these people arrived from. They are refugees running for there lives and their kids' life. They're starving, their life is in constant danger back in their 'home
I''m from Hungary but I'd never send them back to that place.

'Problem here is that Europe has been on a long vacation since the Allies liberated them in WWII and they need to grow some you know what's and stop thinking that the USA is going to solve all their issues. Good luck this time Europe.'
Yep, the Germans for one obviously spent the last 70 years on vacation. Where they found the time to rebuild their country from rubble back into an economic powerhouse escapes me. To stay with Germany, what problems is Germany asking the US to solve for it?
'The media show a few photographs of dead women and children but the 99% of these so called migrants are men in the 18-40 year old range with no partners travelling along with them, what does that say???'
Can I ask where you are getting the 99% 18-40 male stat from? I haven't come across that in my reading about this situation.
lucabrasi
@Hawk
So what, in your opinion should 18-40 year-old single male Syrians do? Join Assad's barrel-bombers? Join the fundamentalist opposition? Join lunatic IS? Wait around to be slaughtered by one of the above?
I know what I'd do, and it'd certainly involve a trip outside Syria....

Hear hear.
Illyas
Then why don't you house a family of migrants yourself? You lord your self righteousness over others, but what have you done? Have you welcomed these people into your home? Or is that just the privilege of the native working class and unemployed to welcome these migrants, while liberals like yourself at best interact with the 1% of educated ones who occupy positions in business, universities, and government?

Obama has been silent so far on this matter. European leaders are at a loss for what to do or say. The smart countries like Russia and middle eastern countries are silent because they want the dumb western powers to take the lead and screw themselves over and rightly so. The media show a few photographs of dead women and children but the 99% of these so called migrants are men in the 18-40 year old range with no partners travelling along with them, what does that say??? How stupid can European leaders be to allow this farce to continue.

Some of the comments on here are unbelievable. Does the phrase "There but for the grace of God go I" mean nothing?
Must be nice to sit tapping away at a keyboard, well-fed and air-conditioned, explaining why desperate, traumatised fellow humans should be sent back to the hell they're feeling.
Bgood41
What really missing here are the Arab states, including Turkey that need to show Islamic charity and mercy to welcome mostly Syrian refugees; and not the West. How about Russia and China? It is so obvious, they aim for better places to rebuilt their lives for now. The world is still waiting for All the powerful and merciful One(s) to help these refugees????
Hawkeye
It is an invasion and the European politicians are letting it happen. No documentation, no verification, just let these 99% male middle eastern men into your countries is insane. This is going to lead to such a political instability and internal chaos that Europe will never recover.
Imagine, if North Korea's government collapsed tomorrow and all those North Koreans went to the borders of China, South Korea and began boarding boats by the hundreds of thousands and starting showing up on Japan's Western coastlines and marched through Japan and onto Tokyo demanding asylum. If Mexico and all of South America suddenly made a mass exodus to the southern border of the USA what would happen. My guess is a lot of folks would be shot dead by the local residents defending their homes and way of life.
Problem here is that Europe has been on a long vacation since the Allies liberated them in WWII and they need to grow some you know what's and stop thinking that the USA is going to solve all their issues. Good luck this time Europe.

Millions of poor refugees would go widely and settle somewhere in Europe whatever because they will never go back.
mazzda
It is called Hijra.
Kenny Iyekawa
What a bloody mess. Set an example and send them back where they came from, period.
Illyas
How is media giving these men a free pass on this? WHAT REFUGEE LEAVES BEHIND THEIR CHILD AND WIFE? I feel like I'm going crazy. The media has such a naked agenda at this point it's sickening.
CrazyJoe
If you don't have a border you don't have a country.
