That's nice. Hopefully the EU will deal with Hungary appropriately.

Earlier this month, Orbán said that Ukraine is “light years” away from joining the bloc, further signaling that his government would be a major obstacle to Kyiv's ambitions at next month's meeting of EU heads of state and government in Brussels.

On Thursday, Gulyas also said Hungary would not support proposed amendments to the EU's budget, part of which would provide 50 billion euros ($54.5 billion) in long-term aid to Kyiv.

I love this guy.

And the most exciting thing about him is that he undermines US security interests?

Yes, and?

Good. Ukraine should not be a part of EU. too corrupt, among other things.

You keep telling me you want your country to succeed. Kind of hard to do that if the national security is being undermined, isn't it?

Let Ukraine in!

The unspoken truth is Hungary is saying out loud what almost everyone else knows to be true but can't say it in public; the EU will inherit a basket case.

In other words, Orban is doing them a massive favor.

For a guy who hates career politicians you sure do love a lot of career politicians.

"Other things" being that they they aren't bending over for Putin like you are.

A county currently at war shouldn't be allowed to join NATO for the good of all NATO countries. When the war is completed, 1 day later, sign them up.

Hungary is saying what Putin wants them to say - at least the current nationalist leader is saying what Putin wants.

Hungary, which is also a NATO member, has opposed many EU initiatives to support Ukraine in resisting Moscow's forces and gets most of its crude oil and gas from Russia.

This President has been bought and paid for by Putin.

once it addresses governance issues that include corruption, lobbying concerns, and restrictions that might prevent national minorities from studying and reading in their own languages

This is a major stumbling block for Budapest. The Transcarpathian Hungarians deserve rights.

You do realize he was arrested and imprisoned by the secret police of the communist regime under the USSR right?

That might just mean he has stockholm syndrome. No one can say exactly why racism raises its ugly head in certain people to the point where they don't even care about their own interests.

Transcarpathian Hungarians are a supressed minority under the current governance - let's call a spade a spade. The EU is shameless in not even calling this out; it goes against the grain of everything they stand for. Fortunately Budapest did and is somewhat paradoxically holding the EU core values true while certain quarters flip-flop against the winds of change.

He’s not an American in America, so it doesn’t matter..

"Other things" being that they they aren't bending over for Putin like you are.

Biden?

Yes!

Well, the Dems won’t be in power for much longer.

It's nothing but common sense. The Ukraine is far too corrupt to be allowed into the EU. The Eu already made that mistake with Greece; it won't make it again.

They're not going to have a chance to rid themselves of corruption without a plan for the future free of Russia.
