This could be an environmental disaster. Bet the White House is praying this thing goes south, or they are going to get even more heat on the BP spill.

Yes, it certainly is already a disaster, ecologically and economically. I live over 50 miles off the shore of the gulf and I can still smell the oil...

Tropical storms in the northern hemisphere may meander south a little bit but it is impossible for them to curve southward.
As it is, I think the gulf coast will be OK with this storm but were still very early in the tropical season.
