Article saids: China suggested it was time to shake things up at the IMF, with Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu saying the leadership “should be based on fairness, transparency and merit.”

I wonder what fairness, transparency and merit that she is talking about. This sure doesn't sound like China and does not happen in China. China's main problem is the lack of an independent body to enforce implementation and rule in disputes. In Western countries with information disclosure laws, independent courts have served this purpose. Chinese courts, though, are subordinate to both the Communist Party and the relevant people's congresses, the lawmaking bodies at various levels. They are authorized only to enforce the law, not to make or interpret it and very few courts have accepted disclosure cases at all.

He is now out on bail in a secure apartment. It is almost as good as a jail but at least he is not being tormented by the NYC police. There is a saying in America a Chicken salad sandwich can get indited. So far the much valued "evidence" is a bunch of nonsense. About a possible setup, well perhaps I am too quick to point at America. In fact giving it some thought there are others with much better reasons.

I can see the battle now is between his story ( consensual sex) and her story (rape). It seems that it is already the end of the road for him (his job) and even if he gets out of this mess alive ( not committing suicide) he should worry about AIDS for his sexual behavior .

I wonder if they will take away his passport and then fit him with an ankle monitor? Or put him under house arrest in a hotel (...wait, that might not be the best choice!). That's the only way I can see him being given bail.

chuckbello, how can you say that? Have you seen the evidence against him. Fox reported her spit was found in the carpet. Really? Like that proves anything. Next they will say they found his dna in the room he was staying. OMG just think of that they can prove he was staying in his room. About her story, she had a lot of time to practice it and make up new parts. In any case they have nailed him, so no matter what happens now he has lost. He might as well take up gardening and knitting. He will never have another post again guilty or innocent.

If I read this correctly, this incident is only the start of unusual incidents. This is related to QE3, expecting resignations in the US Treasury Dept. (eg. Geither), and Federal Reserve (Bernanke) sometime after Summer 2011. The situation is bad, and the IMF Chief going down is the harbinger of the economic situation. Time will tell.....

ihavegreatlegs- vulgar in what sense. That's what probably happened. It's is reported in most press releases.

The maid, a 32-year-old immigrant from the West African nation of Guinea, told police that the 62-year-old Strauss-Kahn came out of the bathroom naked, chased her down, forced her to perform oral sex on him and tried to remove her underwear before she broke free and fled the room.

Pretty vulgar statement.

More and more sounds like the evidence is against him. His claim that they had sex but it was consensual is weak. also note the flood of stories coming out about his previous bad behaviour to women and claims that he hires proostitutes. Sounds like a sociopathic rich scumbag - not unccommon in the finance industry.
