So now Rubio is FOR amnesty for illegal immigrants?? Hmm...he is finally reading the so called writing on the wall?? Anyway, too late for the Republican Party, with lovely mouth pieces like Rush Limbaugh, he keeps helping his party shoot themselves in the feet night and day thanks to the BMI Network.

How is giving amnesty even an option? They are criminals. They should be rounded up and deported, every single one of them. If they want to become citizens, they should have to apply like everyone else.

Not true. IF they were "applying like everyone else", then they would not be in the United States. They would be in their own countries, waiting patiently for legal permission to enter. Instead, they chose to take a chance, break the law, and become illegal residents. That behavior should not be rewarded or encouraged.

Besides, last time I checked, there were something like 25 million Americans unemployed. Given that there are 11 million or so illegals, the solution seems rather clear. Give the jobs to legal residents, and the need for illegal immigrants disappears.

Those who are illegal aliens at this time could be offered a couple of options: A. Temporary (3-5year) legal residency status, during which time they must apply for Permanent residency status(without citizenship option), and if not approved they would have to leave.

B. Exit the country, and apply for Legal residency IAW all current requirements.

C. Apply for Refugee status. If not approved they would have to leave.

D. Migrant worker status for 3-5years during which time they must apply for Legal residency status without citizenship option.

Citizenship should only be granted to those who have gone through proper procedures. Violators would be banned from entering for a minimum of 25 years, and with no Legal residency or future citizenship option.

It's no secret that immigrants generally enter a country on the bottom of the economic scale, for a variety of reasons. That means they are net drains on society. Sure, some might eventually pull themselves up and become net producers, but with higher and higher taxes, that is becoming increasingly unlikely.

The disgusting is that both parties, dems and repubs, are not really focused on whether or not immigrants are a net benefit to the country, but how they can leverage this mass influx of welfare seekers to bolster their own party through essentially buying votes.

Even if they first enter the U.S. legally, immigrants are told of all the wonderful free things provided to them by their new government (meaning those taxes paid by those increasingly in the minority net producers).

From a strict economic standpoint, this simply can not last. You can't keep attracting freeloaders from all over the world indefinitely. You'll eventually run out of cash, and EVERYBODY will be broke.

This is another sign that the Republican Party is tearing itself apart. The elders of the party know that this type of message is crucial for their future - that they may be seen as a party inclusive of hard-working. law-abiding residents, that these people are in America, and that there presence is undeniable and unchangeable in fact. Senators may agree on this, but representatives likely will not.

The younger, tea-party affiliated members, however, will rebel against it. They will most likely lose, but if they do win, or if their loss is contentious or even close, the GOP elders will have lost all that they are trying to gain.

All in all, as long as your future is not at stake, this looks to be a quite entertaining debate and vote.

The solution is clear if we can snap our fingers and get everything we want. We both know you can't find and deport 11,000,000 people. It's logistically impossible. Another shibboleth of the immigration debate. The key is the latter part, about the pay. Illegals artificially depress the value of labour by working for wages that the market would not support under normal circumstances. Remove illegals from the equation, and wages would rise to the point that legal residents would be willing to do the jobs. Plus, remove incentives for the unemployed to STAY unemployed and problem solved.

Remember, if you bring the illegals "out of the shadows", then their value in the workforce decreases. It means that employers of illegals will now have to register their labour, pay the required taxes/pension/health care, etc. Again, this is a drain on the economy.

Plus, I notice you say nothing about the hundreds of thousands of LEGAL immigration seekers, who pay the fees and wait patiently and do the interviews and do the paperwork. No people will do those jobs just that the pay has to increase. For example how many people want the job to go into sewers? Guess how many of them are illegals? Like zero. Why? Because the job pays well.

And with this legislation the person busing your table will more likely be a legal resident. Honestly, I'm a bit confused. It sounds like you want a legal who went through process A instead of a legal who went through process B.

Sucked for me, too. I waited 10 years in Japan before I got permanent residency, and at nearly the exact same time they changed the requirement to 5 years. Shall I go to immigration with tears in my eyes and tell them that they need to enact bad policy because it's just not fair to me? The policy is to change as many illegals to legals as possible to deal with the problem today. It's not some perpetual process that will give a green light to illegals in 20 years.

You are fighting a losing battle and in the process you're going to lose the White House as well. If you're fine with that then keep going.
