Which non-electable flip-flopping conservative clown is leading now?

There were so many of them, it was getting difficult to remember, so a big thanks to all the others for bombing out and going down in flames so quickly so we could have some much needed clarity on the issue!

Romney, is he really American?

‘Romney’ sounds distinctly European …….very suspicious.

Perhaps a Democrat PAC should follow the GOP’s example and launch a Birther Movement against ‘Romney’ to get him to front up with his real birth certificate (if he has one). Because let’s face it – John McCain was born in Panama so there’s likely other GOP candidates who also weren’t born in America.

This tactic worked pretty well for the GOP as a way to distract the American people from the real issue of creating jobs and keeping American’s minds off how competently the GOP destroyed the economy and pandered to their elite 1% paymasters.

Would any of the contenders on 'Republican Idol' care to comment?

I'm not sure Obama sees Romney as the projected nominee, maybe it more like he sees Romney as the only real threat and he wants to keep Romney down in the polls before he has a chance. Republicans might be dumb enough to nominate a man like Gngrich which would be a cakewalk for Obama. Maybe that's more what Obama is shooting for.

For safety sake the media needs to paint all 3 remaining repubbs as extremists, without really explaining to the public what they mean by the term.

Interesting race for the GOP.

Romney cant get up over 23%, Gingrich is the polar opposite of what ultra-Republicans want (not a delightful history for this washed up loser) and next down the line in Ron Paul. While America cold do with Paul, there is no way the old Republican guard would touch him.

Bob Dole anybody? Nah, didnt thinks so. Haha

Get used to Obama until 2016 and if the GOP dont have things sorted out by then, another Clinton administration - ewww.

Everybody who is even slightly outside a carefully defined range is an extremist these days. Haven't you noticed? Perry is/was a dangerous hardline right-winger, Obama is a extreme, anti-American socialist, anything Islamic is "ultraconservative" or "radical". Shades of grey are no longer permitted; don't think, react.

Regardless of who wins the nomination they will be painted as either a radical ultraconservative or a RINO with ties to dangerous leftists, trying to do battle with that commie in the White House. The polarization of American politics is disgusting.

Who are the GOP's 'paymasters' ? Got some names for us? Come on, you are such an expert on America it should be easy for you. The biggest corporation in America is General Electric . CEO Jeff Imelt has basically been bought by the Obama admin. GE paid no taxes for the last fiscal year whose records are available to the public.

I think something like 55 million voted R in 08. That is more than ten times the population of your native New Zealand. Do you, or people like you, actually believe that 50 or so senators and a few hundred congress critters from any party could persuade 55 million voters that it is in their interest to vote not for themselves and their interests but for a mythical one percent ? Keep in mind that 1 percent is itself a group of people who are a microcosm of America. I would say close to 50 percent of the so called One Percent vote Democrat in these last few elections.

Man, you is funny.

Gngrich which would be a cakewalk for Obama.

So long as Obama's campaign is ungentlemanly enough to kick him in the sexual histories.

If they just stick to the hypocrisy maybe not so easy. It is easy to see that Americans can overlook extreme hypocrisy. But if your sexual past is not squeaky clean forget. America wants no more Thomas Jeffersons, Alexander Hamiltons, John F. Kennedies or Bill Clintons. They would happily take an inarticulate war monger though.

Is Ralph Nader running again?

Tim Pawlenty shouldn't have pulled out of the race. It would have been his turn at the top after Gingrich gets his 15 minutes at the top to show the world why he shouldn't be president.

Obama is worried about Romney and Ron Paul. If the repubicans choose Gingrich, they deserves four more years of Obama because he has way too much baggage that can be used in campaign adds. Romneys biggest obstical is the mormon hating christians who'd rather vote for Gingrich who cheated on his first two wifes, than Romney who has been happily married for 45+ yrs.

OMG! Old Newt is beating Romney out in middle of nowhere Iowa!! So?? So who cares! They both have no chance or should I rephrase that, they do have a chance like that of a snowball in hell of winning.

@Serrano good comment, yes Republicans better get behind Ralph Nader this time around.

SushiSake, I think you are right, something about that name, Romney, maybe a bit too European for the USA but then again Newt?? What the heck kind of name is that? Newton? Can you imagine being a little kid on a playground, and being called Newt! Or Newton?? Easy target for all of the bullies out there, IMHO.

Elbuda - Newt somehow managed to become successful even with being an easy target for the bullies on the playground. Maybe it helps to build character.

Why do people say Newt has baggage? What is up with that soft euphemism, uttered like its not quite his fault? The man has proven himself to be a scumbag and hypocrite of unparalleled proportion. Its not baggage. Its who the guy is.
