Just in case anyone missed this, The CDC was caught lying and had to revise the Coronavirus death stats
Now the total stands at 37, 308 (as of May 1) .

Fox, aka Trump media. Will Trump give One America News Network a chance? How about Sinclair Broadcasting.
That's down from the billion he claimed previously. Trump once again throwing numbers around with no regard for the 65,000 dead. More than the number of American military personnel killed invading Vietnam.

"Larry Kudlow, Trump's top economic adviser, said on CNN's "State of the Union" that the administration would "pause” to review the effectiveness of trillions in economic relief spending before making any decision on whether additional aid is needed."
Larry Kudlow, one of the architects of trickle down or "supply side" economics since the Reagan era, is one of the last people that should be in charge of a balanced socially, worker-friendly response to the crisis. Another banker, irresponsible big business friendly bailout plan that will condemn many to a decade of impoverishment is incoming.

He can't even spout his drivel to a friendly audience while sober.

While I can believe that the stats may have been revised for some reason, if the actual reason was that the CDC had "been caught lying", I would be absolutely amazed. I have more faith that god is real.

Trump knows the only thing he has going for him is the economy. Other than that, when he does debate with Biden, Trump's going to have to give reasons why he should be re-elected as president. Take the economy away from him, and he doesn't have a leg to stand on.
If thousands of people die in the process between now and November, will Trump still have everything under control? Trump's a gambler, but he's gambling with the lives of people now, not his own money.
Silvafan
@Avenger
They were not lying. 1) People can die from complications related to coronavirus just like people don't die because of AIDS. Their numbers are closer to the 65,000.
2) In that link, the CDC specifically said the numbers are lower because it takes longer for them than other reports to codify the numbers. They haven't finished counting basically.
It is no different than Tokyo having low infection numbers at the beginning of the week because tests are not conducted on the weekends.
Strangerland
Had. There's no chance it will recover my November.
Blacklabel
no, actually Biden will have to prove why he is better.
Strangerland
Midterms have always been a poll on the incumbents performance.
It's Trump's election to lose.
Chip Star
Biden has already done that by not being Donny.
Blacklabel
keeping praying for that recession to hurt all of us innocent American workers. The stock market is already back from 18,000 to nearly 25,000 and we havent even reopened or really gone back to work yet.
whats your stock market and unemployment predictions come November?
Chip Star
Literally nobody is doing this.
Wolfpack
Kudlow had a heart attack months prior to that interview.
Strangerland
What are you talking about?! I feel for everyone on this planet affected by this - no one expected it. It's hit me personally hard, and my own issues are hardly even an issue in comparison to so many.
I was making a statement of fact. The economy won't recover by November. This is a world recession - they take a few years to bounce back from.
Blacklabel
Ok, then if its a world recession, then Trump really had nothing to do with it and no reason to personally blame him. In fact if the US economy recovers more quickly than other countries, that would be a real positive for his reelection then. Good to know!
Blacklabel
I actually watched the town hall this article references.
I felt very optimistic and uplifted by the good things that are coming for America from now. Reopening and getting back to work is only the first step to return to normalcy in American life, might take some time still.
I hope the rest of the world can also benefit from strong leadership like we have in USA from their own leaders to recover as quickly as possible.
Silvafan
This will turn out bad. It will be called the "Summer of Loss".
The main reason will because the current US president is a criminal and narcissistic idiot!
The other reasons related to this bad plan:
Step 1
Remove income support, so people have no choice but to return to work.
(This will be the biggest factor.)
Step 2
Hide the facts about the true deaths.
(Delayed Reports, Banning people from testifying in front of Congress)
Step 3
Pretend it’s about “freedom”.
(Aimed at securing White Americans voters. A large number of protesters are also sporting confederate and/or Nazi symbols)
(Calling all Right Wingers regardless of actions "Good People")
Step 4
Shield businesses against lawsuits for spreading the infection.
(Including his own businesses.)
Most Americans didn't vote for this president; unfortunately, this is what they got. Americans both conservative and liberal will be looking for another Democrat to save them from another disasterous Republican presidency.
ClippetyClop
It's just Trump's unusual way of destroying the last part of Obama's legacy; wrecking a fine economy. Mission complete, get it on that White House List of Achievements.
Serrano
Anxious to spur an economic recovery without risking lives
If only the Democrats were on board with this...
65,000 and counting...
Roughly 30.3 million people have filed for unemployment aid in the six weeks since the outbreak forced employers to shut down and slash their workforces.
Too many people hurting and suffering. Lines at food banks overwhelmed. Small business closures. Fired workers and 30 million unemployed.
And counting. Maybe time to start reopening the economy, eh?
Trump's going to have to give reasons why he should be re-elected
Best economy ever until the virus from China, and no new wars comes to mind.
Blacklabel
Funny you would mention that.
By end of summer it will be that Trump intentionally wrecked the economy by closing down the USA for no reason. Just so that he could get the full credit for the stock market going back to 29,000+ and putting 30 million people back to work.
The "new reality" will be that the unemployment rate and stock market didnt really improve at all. it just went back to where it was before Trump intentionally closed down America selfishly just to get reelected!
Chip Star
Hahahahaha!
Blacklabel
There is always a media driven linkage between bad economy, high unemployment rates and covid death counts to Trump reelection chances. The only people who speak of this linkage are people who have made it perfectly clear that dont want Trump reelected. It is presented as an indisputable fact that these 3 will ensure he wont be President again What am I missing in the debate?
Silvafan
@Serrano
This wasn't true even before the Coronavirus!
Trump touts his economy as ‘the best it has ever been.’ The data doesn’t show that.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/02/04/trump-touts-his-economy-best-ever-data-is-more-mixed/
Oh, my..............
Jimizo
Use ‘competent’ rather than ‘strong’ here as too many people think shouting at or insulting journalists is a sign of strength. Many countries around the world had competent leaders who dealt with this situation far better than Trump.
Don’t think for a second Trump has shown competence. He’s in the hall of shame along with a few others.
Chip Star
Logic.
Serrano
I hope the rest of the world can also benefit from strong leadership like we have in USA
The countries that need ventilators and are now getting ventilators from the USA which now them in excess are benefiting, that I can tell you.
Blacklabel
Very informative analysis. Please continue.
people like myself use words like the stock market is on its way to recovery, people will get back to work, and the death toll was percentages of what was projected if action had not been taken. I speak of the unfortunate loss of life and jobs and temporary decrease in 401k for peoples retirements.
I hear none of this from the other side, just these things will prevent Trump from being reelected. Is that all you care about?
Jsapc
The right-wing media can keep repeating it, it will still not be a reality.
Jsapc
You're right, let's talk about it.
Wouldn't it be interesting if the president had a live televised interview in a context that not 100% favorable to him one day? And actual journalists would ask him actual questions? I would love to see that, instead of the usual butt-kissing contest on Fox News. (If England could send James O'Brien over to do it, it'd be great.)
Strangerland
And China.
Blacklabel
If you had actually watched the town hall you would have also heard questions that were not favorable at all to the President.
bass4funk
He has and does, but FNC has the highest demographic reach in the nation. In news you always go to the network that has the biggest audience pull.
What? Again? Lol
Serrano
The right-wing media can keep repeating it, it will still not be a reality.
So please tell us, which administration had the best economy? Can't wait for the answer.
You should be ashamed FoxNews, putting this narcissistic clown sitting next to the statue of Lincoln..
So where do you want him? In Schiff's basement?
PTownsend
So FNC is both mainstream and corporate media.
Serrano

@Black
More faulty logic. Please provide evidence instead of a way out of the actual debate!
Strangerland
It would seem that said media, is the definition of mainstream. The MainStreamMedia as it were.
Jimizo
Bill Clinton oversaw a strong economy while balancing the books. Trump was spending like a socialist before Covid hit while the economy was good.
Sorry to bring up the books, but our fiscal conservatives need reminding now and again.
Serrano
Bill Clinton oversaw a strong economy while balancing the books.
Pfffft! Bill Clinton happened to be president during the dot com bubble. And he presided over the awful NAFTA which even Hillary turned against in the end.
Jimizo
Umm, you can argue about influences and pressures but the fact remains Clinton balanced the books while overseeing a strong economy. That’s the bottom line and what satisfies fiscal conservatives.
Why wasn’t Trump listening to fiscal conservatives and why did our resident fiscal conservatives ( I’ll give Wolfpack credit here for being consistent ) suddenly jettison their values?
Sorry to keep repeating ‘fiscal conservatives’ but they need reminding.
Jimizo
Trump happened to be president when the economy was on the up. Obama happened to be president after the economy flew off a cliff under Bush 2. Bush 2 happened to be president after Clinton had balanced the books and then Bush 2 turned a surplus into a deficit even before the economy flew off the aforementioned cliff.
Are you sure you want to go down this road? Republicans don’t come out of this looking too good.
SimondB
Trump: Very fine people.
Ike-in-Tokyo-from-89
Okay. Fine. Leave the lockdown. Hand out trillions more. Inflate the currency. Create useless jobs for the unemployed. Start a “war against suicide”. Great. My vote’s for Joe.
What could go wrong?
bass4funk
That’s what it’s all about, if Trump a Democrat doing the exact same thing, but adding more socialism to it, the Dems would swoon around him as if he were the great savior on a white horse riding in town.
Reagan came in to clean the disastrous economy left by Carter, Bush had a very strong economy until Dodd and Frank Completely torpedoed it and now Trump has to clean the mess that Obama left especially with the black community.
Neither do Democrats...especially if you think a paper hat job is considered a vibrant part of economy.
Ah_so
Serrano, if the "best economy ever" can collapse and lead to unemployment of over 10% in a matter of weeks, then it clearly suffered from a massive structural weakness. Other countries have not seen unemployment rise by the same extent.
