And the most polluted

And the most polluted

...not if you ask western regions of Japan or South Korea. In South Korea the government gives directives for avoiding polution from China every time the wind blow westerly.

India can produce the kind of Demographics Japan can only dream of. But it still can't get its population to spend or produce because the elites in India would rather hoard the wealth to themselves.

watched a talk yesterday that mentioned in passing that at the time of the 2nd World War, global population stood at around 2 billion. 8 decades later.... what? 8 billion? glad I'm not a youngster!

Good job, India.

The world of miserables is right here. India is less than 1/3 the area of China but 1:1 populations. These are living people, they need roads and leisure spaces to move around. Water for consumption, clean water to drink, can you see the polluting in their rivers? India is not very efficient in building tall rising mansion like China does, that's why they are so crowded. Their people packed like sardines in a can in train stations, many sitting on the roof of a moving train.Horrible enough to describe the living conditions in India.

In China, we can emigrating the over crowded population in the east to "California of China", the far west of China: Tibet,Xinjiang. Where can India emigrating the excessive populations. They were having a population they couldn't afford. A sad news indeed!

Congrats?

India's Muslim population is growing, too, and may soon become the second largest in the world bringing the possibility of a Muslim Holocaust erupting in the 21st century ever closer as the dangerous anti-democratic forces represented by Modi and his insidious brand of Hindu nationalism gain traction. The world cannot afford to take its eyes off these dangerous tendencies swirling around the sub-continent.

India is less than 1/3 the area of China but 1:1 populations

But over 50% of India's land is arable vs China at 10% and declining - rapidly.

In China, we can emigrating the over crowded population

China might call it emigrating, but elsewhere it's called 'invasion'. Xinjiang is a prime example, completely different culture, tradition, and religion, same with Tibet, similarly inner Mongolia. Not to mention China having tried to invade Vietnam, Korea nunerous times tgroughtout history. Nothing to be proud of.

Back to India, who can feed themselves, who can defend themselves, I'd say if you fix India's social mobility and caste problem and you will have a very prosperous country. Whereas despite appearance of social mobility, China's people, and Chinese ethnics nearby are being suppressed evermore.

The population growth in the more educated and industrialized southern states in India has stagnated already.

It's the northern states that are less industrialized and more agrarian which are still seeing population growth.

An interesting youtube video explains why 50% of Indians live in the Indo-Gangetic plains.

As far as overcrowding is concerned, as rightly pointed out by Shimon Masada much of the land in India is still arable so the population distribution is not skewed as much as in China where the west is sparsely populated.

Because of India's democratic system, the China style population control measures can never be implemented in India.

The last time the government tried it was during the Emergency in 1975 when Indira Gandhi suspended democracy and her son Sanjay Gandhi forcefully sterilized the poor folks living in slums. She got booted out of power in the next elections so badly that no subsequent government had the guts to talk about population control.

Instead, with economic growth picking up and more women opting for careers thus delaying marriages, India’s TFR fell on its own and is now barely above replacement levels.

Thanks for replying, Monsieur. I want to tell you all countries do this thing and we don't mind whatever foreigners think. America invaded California, New Mexico Arizona,Nevada etc. these states taken through war with Mexico in 1845, the U.S. emigrated their English speaking people to the far west whose used to be speaking Spanish. And most recently Israel emigrating their Jewish settlers to Palestinian lands in west bank. What China now doing is for the sake of those miserable Han people who cannot afford a home in expensive Shanghai, we hope the Uyghurs or the Tibetans showing their compassion to accept the new coming Chinese new neighbours for a better future,we will tell the locals to forget their country which has gone forever but all of us living in one China, our country!

elephant200 - do you think China will eventually take over the remainder of Mongolia?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

No, I don't think that is necessary. Mongolia is a buffer zone between China and Russia, it is good to maintain that country being leave alone and undeveloped, a good relationship with Russia is important. China can send her excess populations to Africa through helping African programs. There were many little "New China" in southern Africa now. As China has abandoned her "One Child Policy", new born generation will takeover China and displacing some poverty Chinese to Africa. This is a massive emigrating program requires huge money to carry out. India just don't has such power to disperse their over crowded population and that will be an obstacle hindering their growth.

China has been greatly benefited by world no.1 populations in the last 30 years of economic miracle because we have a strict and efficient political system to mobilise the people and using the advantage. Yes India has overwhelmed Chinese by populations now but they don't have China style efficient political system to use their population advantage!

Go China, GO India..

GO BRICS!!!!!..

Ah but, China does care what foreigners think, that's why it has coercive trade. Come to think of it, China cares about what Chinese think as well, that's why it has to put an old man in jail (Jimmy Lai of Hong Kong), the disappearing book sellers, the speech therapists who authored a book about the big bad wolf....

On the other hand, unless you have not noticed, Mexicans are risking their lives to be with their invaded cousins on the other side of the wall.

Now as for India vs China, the Salai Lama chooses to exile in India...that to me says everything any one needed to know about 'compassion'.

GO BRICS!!!!!..

Go indeed. Let's just hope China doesn't go off a cliff by attacking Taiwan.
