In March 2012 it was revealed that Aeroflot is asking Sukhoi for compensation since the six Superjet 100 it operates are in the air only 3.9 hours/day on average instead of the standard 8 to 9 hours. "Outages were caused by failures due to technical problems and delayed delivery of parts", noted the deputy chief engineer of the Department of Aviation and Technical Support of "Aeroflot" Constantine Mohni in the russian daily newspaper Vedomosti

Well, is seems to have hit and the fuselage has come to rest further down. Let's hope there may still be survivors. We'll know when the first rescue teams can cross that last 1 km of hellishly steep terrain tomorrow morning.

So, anyone still interested in buying the jet after it crashed during a demonstration flight? May I suggest either Boeing or Airbus as possible alternatives?

Boeing and Airbus not build alternatives of SSJ.

Alternatives are ATR, Embraer, Bombardier, would in future Mitsubishi Regional Jet. Also China build some Antonov (Ukraine exUSSR republic) clones.

Yeah like Boeing and Airbus have never had crashes during test flights or demonstration flights.... Oh wait both have oops.

This one does not seem to be the fault of the plane itself, many parts of which are actually made by manufacturers throughout the world, including Boeing.

This is very sad, we need to think about the family and friends of the dead and not make insulting comments. My prayers are with them in their time of sorrow.

No, A-320 had crash. 6 die, around 180 live.

Indonesia so difficult market for Sukhoi. Some year ago 6 engineers form Sukhoi was die in Indonesia. Cause of death is poisoning. They doing work with military airplane for Indonesia government. Also 9 may is the greatest day for Russia. It day of victory. So sad and symbolic crash.
