Poor coastal people living there. I read an article about how many of the survivors have fled up into the jungle to be safe, but even there they can hear the rumblings of the volcano across the water and see the lightning flashes within its clouds. Aid groups have had trouble finding these people, often off the beaten track, and despite urgings to come down most are afraid to move yet, especially with the government telling them not to return to the shore just yet. Heavy rain, nothing to eat, crude sheeting overhead and the presence of snakes and centipedes just add to their predicament.
