They definitely need regulation for these fragile buildings. And the money to build accordingly.

i spent five days in padang last year, including my new year countdown for 2009! the people were really friendly! it made me wonder which of those hotels and shopping malls that i saw collapsed because of the tremor. despite its infrastructural inferiority, i still think that padang is a charming coastal city. i pray for the victims, and the speedy recovery of the survivors.
