Apparently this guy posed a threat to Emperor Xi. A Chinese national once explained to me that these corruption investigations are nothing but a cover for political purges as the most powerful Politburo players get rid of potential political enemies and shore up their loyalists.

Surely he's only missing if no-one knows where he is.....? And it would appear that some know of his whereabouts but are just being coy about where it is.

On a more serious note, it does pose a problem when considering whether to hire a Chinese person into a position of influence.... they may suddenly be absent for a period of time, if not permanently. So, this sort of seems at odds for the goal of getting ones Nationals into positions from which they can conduct a Spying or Subterfuge operation.

This is not just a regular Joe neither - though largely ceremonial, it's still the President of Interpol

What kind of country would just take the President of Interpol with no explanation

It's one thing to take its President into custody, but it's a whole another level not even to let Interpol know, let alone the spouse

If China doesn't explain itself sooner rather than later, Interpol should stop working with China and not pass along China's warrants to other countries
