The Tor SAM system is a highly advanced, sophisticated weapons system that includes crews of Russian military officials and contractors who help operate it 24-7, right alongside the Iranians. The Russians need to explain, along with the Iranian military, why several other aircraft that took off that night were NOT targeted on the well-known air route out of Tehran, but the Ukrainian airliner WAS; Russia is in a hot war with Ukraine, and the 'coincidence' is lost on no one.

Modern surface-to-air missiles have automatic threat tracking and friendly object removal. Nobody is pressing a button with "FIRE" on it.

Friendly craft data is feed into the system using multiple sources. Anything flying that isn't removed automatically is a threat, gets targeted, and if the operation team isn't watching closely, the missile automatically fires at targets.

So, the investigation is why wasn't the airliner squaking a commercial airline code, why didn't the missile pick it up, or why didn't a filed flight plan exclude the airliner as a threat. Lots of details may have caused inaccurate data. I have know idea how the missile system handles conflicting data entries.

The TOR-M1 is a sophisticated system and requires disciplined and trained operators to man it.

Are you suggesting Russia, Iran's partner in oil, gas and war, didn't properly train Iranian forces in best ways to use Russian weaponry?

but then again, I can't blame them.

You can't blame Russia's partner Iran's forces for shooting down a plane load of innocents, including many Ukrainians? Is that because Russia sees Ukraine as an enemy?

No need to worry about the whys, the truth is out there somewhere.

The footage corresponded with AP reporting, appeared genuine and matched geographic features of the area. It also explained how so many people filmed the shoot down: the first explosion drew their attention so they turned their mobile phone cameras to the predawn sky.

There's the explanation for the cameras

Burning Bush - It's illegal and a sinister underhanded tactic, but then again so is blatant assassination, and some countries don't follow the rules.

IRANIAN general Soleimani was killed on his battlefield in IRAQ. His choice. His mistake.

IRANIAN general Soleimani was killed on his battlefield in IRAQ. His choice. His mistake.

Was the location on which he was killed declared as a war zone at the time he was killed? Honest question. To anyone who answers that it was, please include something to support the assertion, as this information will be in the public domain if it truly was a war zone at the time.

However, the report said “the impact of these missiles on the accident and the analysis of this action is under investigation.”

Spit up coffee again!

Under investigation? "Let's see, (scratching beard here) if soldier "A" didnt press this button to launch the missiles the plane more than likely would not have been blasted out of the air"

There, investigation complete!

Of course these were Russian anti-aircraft missiles. They actually hit their intended target. Tehran's missile's guidance are more like the V-1, and V-2, rockets of their WWII idols.

I'm sure that the CNN-types would be all over this "Russia is in a hot war with Ukraine" coincidence..
