Gee whizz mahmood, you're not reassuring anyone other than a few token nutters on the left announcing this they day after fuelling the Bushehr "peacefull" nuke plant!
Sarge
"ambassador of death"
This is a great name for a bomber aircraft!

Wonderful. Now the Iranians join in on the cowardly game of unmanned weapons.
It is a sad state of affairs that there are no effective defensive machinery that does not double as offensive.

Come on Israel, take them out already

The astute leaders of Iran, following the examples of N. Korea, India and Pakistan, have learned a wonderful lesson, for which Iraq paid the tuition: Those who don't stand up to bullies get pushed around. Having adequate defence capabilities against a regime like the ones which successively occupy Washington DC and Tel Aviv is a necessity these days.

Sarge,
Better than the 'Peacekeeper' but just as good as 'Predator.'
Laguna
My guess is that this messenger of peace will not last long in the air. Just another blip on the AWACS screen.

So I guess a suicide bomber just lost his job to a machine. Eh, the Modern Age....
Samurai1984
what message of peace and friendship can it have, if it is an ambassador of death? The Iranian Leader needs to grow up being a state representative. Saying one thing and contradicting it.
No weapon, whether maned or unmanned can have a message of peace.

Americans were humiliated by 9/11 and looked around for someone to kick. That was the real reason for the Iraq War -- not WMDs and certainly not replacing a tyrant with democracy. Fighting two wars simultaneously has bled the country white economically (a tax cut in wartime is sheer folly) and even West Point graduates are not reenlisting. If there's a silver lining, at least the combat experience Yanks are getting now will come in handy to provide savvy, battlefield-tested NCOs for the next war.

There's a picture of it here. Looks like something from the cold war. Don't countries normally inaugurate their wares by actually giving live demonstrations?

Hmmm - it really does look like 60's technology. I reckon it'd only be useful for bombing large, non-moving targets.
MistWizard
Nah. Better names for unmanned weapons would be "yellow streak" or "Robert Ford". Or they could try "the back-stabber" or the "chicken-heart". Use of these things is just embarrassing for a civilian of a country using them. The pretty names do not reflect the reality.
SuperLib
OK.
SuperLib
I nominate you to go to the front lines and replace the drones.
HonestDictator
Nothing that a well aimed EMP weapon couldn't take care of.

I bet that thing doesn't even fly. Even the North Korean's must be laughing.

“The scope of Iran’s reaction will include the entire the earth,” said Ahmadinejad. “We also tell you—the West _ that all options are on the table.”
For me that translates as we will use terrorism all over the world if we are attacked.

I am by no means a supporter of American foreign policy or wars if you want to give them their more simplistic name, but you lost all credibility with the opening line “The astute leaders of Iran”. Even you must have smiled when you wrote that.

It is a little amusing to see the contempt expressed towards the engineering and scientific capabilities of a country that's scientific output is greater than many EU countries, and is space capable.
I'm old enough to remember the days when an announcement of any sort of advance out of Japan would have been greeted with the same scorn.

"The jet, as well as being an ambassador of death for the enemies of humanity, has a main message of peace and friendship,”
Yes, I can already feel the love.

Do you remember when the Pentagon unveiled their unmanned bombers? Man, the Pentagon was all over every channel and all over the world. All the leaders and generals were just ecstatic. This is no different. < :-)

A bombing drone with a range to reach Israel. The natural complement to Irans peaceful nuclear programme. Where is the surprise?
nath
RichardPearce,
having an interest in aviation and science I made my comment on the Iranian UAV based on it's similarity to 60's target drones. Contempt was not my intention.
RichardPearce
Starviking, sorry, but there are a lot who are making that sort of comments on other sites due to nothing but contempt (and, it looks like, a few here)
nath
Well I guess you'd need a knowledge of 60's target drones to fully appreciate my intent.
