The thing is that the Iranian position has been clear, and completely reasonable, the deal IS the deal, the US and EU3 failed to ever come into compliance, Iran did (Not in dispute, even the Americans admit that).

When it became clear that the US wasn't going to even pretend it was going to try and comply, Iran invoked the snapback clause that Obama bragged about and Trump ridiculously tried to invoke on the grounds that Iran's invocation was a violation of the terms of the JCPOA (A theme that Biden and the media used to mock, but then adopted into their narrative after it had literally been officially declared ludicrous)

And so Iran has taken the position that while it's plan to lift the invocation is a relevant side issue and submitted its framework for that, the primary focus needs to be on the US plan to allow EU3 to come into something resembling compliance.

The problem is that even if Biden were prepared personally to admit that the Trump position he's now adopted remains ridiculous and completely counterfactual, he is not prepared to act as if it is (for purely domestic political reasons)

We have one person to thank for this mess: Trump. He backed out of the nuclear deal just like he backs out of contracts in his business dealings.

We have one person, out of place shrieking Trump,

and another one below, with whom I do not normally agree,

but here is making a well-thought out point.

plus for Shrieking , - minus for well thought out

Trump had this issue fixed.

They should schedule to meet again, 4 days before Ramadan begins. That's the end of March 2022.

Poor Fu, he thinks that Iran is now desperate to surrender their sovereignty to American paranoia, because they are now full members of the SCO.

PS, to satisfy their citizens demand for the elected Iranian government to stand firm in the face of American bullying, the present legislature and President, and even the Assembly cannot accept anything other than a deal involving the US coming into actual compliance with the JCPOA before anything that isn't in the JCPOA comes into force.

And if, on the return to the table the only subject under discussion isn't how the US is going to do that, with deadlines, well, expect an announcement of a deadline for the uninvited military forces to retreat from Syrian territory to avoid being given more than 'headaches' by Iranian missiles.

yep, another Trump disaster that needs fixing and Biden seems unable to figure out just how to do that.

Drop the sanctions Trump imposed, reverse anything else he did and return to the original agreement under the original terms. And apologize for Trumps actions.
