This whole thing sounds fishy from the start. Why would hikers disregard warnings from any armed personnel??? Just doesn't make sense. Foul play is afoot in Iran...

Why? Are Iranian diplomats in the US illegally?

Why do you support illegal behaviour? Are you happen with all the illegal immigrants in your country? Why should anyone tolerate people illegally in their country?

why would any person (especially American) with any trace of common sense go hiking near the Iran-Iraq border?

Sounds like they were kidnapped because Iran needs a bargaining chip with the US.

The British have been made to be the bad guys in the election. Now they might spin this to involve the US like saying they were spies. It is possible they are.

It would have been so much easier if these 3 idiots had just stayed on the right side of the map....

The difference is that these hikers weren't trying to immigrate, they were probably just putzing around on a hiking trail when some armed Iranian's cuffed them and threw them into the back of a truck. Any other country would conduct an expedited removal, only Iran would force confused hikers to stay in the country rather than deporting them.

Funny I was told by the US embassy in Saudi I cannot go to Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, or Afghanistan if I ever wanted to get back into the states. These country's were off limits for civilians as I was told. So are these really hikers or what.

I expect the Iranians are going to want to get this straightened out too. After all, this isn't NK. Right now it just sounds like a mistake. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
