The Americans want no restrictions, whereas Iranian officials say they are concerned that unrestricted monitoring could be a cover for Western spying.

There is no legitimate reason why inspectors should have access to sites that are unrelated to nuclear technology. And the Iranians are certainly aware of the American spies that were among the inspectors going through Saddam's sites many years ago.

Anti-American sentiment remains strong in Iran,

Oh, that couldn't possibly be because of these brutal and totally unwarranted sanctions, now could it.

All this because each have different needs and objectives. Each also have different scope of perspectives. Add to that the philosophical and religious differences. They already make it difficult to even find a common ground.

When you put that into the constantly changing global situation, circumstances and relationships that affect and influence the smallest of considerations, finding a mutual ground even for discussion is difficult. That is especially so when not only the two countries, but the entire world if affected economically, politically, militarily, and religiously. Every nation is involved for their own benefit. That is the reality of things now.

No one can expect an early or quick resolution to this situation. Meanwhile, Iran will undoubtedly end up with nuclear capability both for domestic energy and military armament. It is probably foolish for the world to think otherwise.

Ali Larijani said at Friday prayers following the rally in Tehran, addressing the U.S. “And its outcome will not benefit you since Iran’s nuclear staff are ready to accelerate nuclear technology at a higher speed than before.”

I want peace with Iran as much as anybody. I want Iran to be bought into the fold of first world nations and it's people to have happy and prosperous lives. And I don't want to see the US get into another expensive war that would cause a lot of civilian casualties and further destabilize the region.

But they (Iran) better think long and hard about getting into an arms race with us (the US). We're not years away from building a bomb and a delivery system. In fact the bottom line is we can hit Tehran within five minutes of getting the go ahead today.

The olive branch has been offered, I hope they see the wisdom of accepting it instead of forcing us to use a stick.
