I'd suggest anyone wanting to know what Iranian public opinion actually is not read stuff written by the 'reporters' who never, or almost never, venture out of the district in Tehran that is dominated by the families who prospered or were favored by the American supported dictatorship of the Shah, but instead visit the University of Maryland's Center For International and Security Studies, which actually ASKS a broad (And representative) sample of the Iranian population what they feel about their government and politicians.

At 'theFu', if you look at Iranian history, both my country (the UK) and the US did really bad things to Iran to try and get their oil. We helped over throw a democratically elected government and the US armed Saddam Hussein and encouraged him to attack Iran. About 500,000 Iranians died because the US encouraged Saddam to attck. If I was Iranian, I wouldn't be going 'Yeah UK you rock, yeah US, you mean freedom!' So, I get it.

All the US wants from Iran is to be peaceful with their neighbors, not support terrorist in the region, the world, or online, and allow democratic elections where the Iranian people get to choose from all running candidates.

And to stop development of nuclear weapons and missile delivery systems as spelled out in the nuclear non-proliferation treaty. Seems like Iran could better spend all the money on solar and battery storage systems, like 1st-world countries, if their true goals were not for military purposes.

And to leave Israel alone.

@basf4And they equally need to leave the US alone and stop using their proxies to kill our troops

Are any of the US troops being killed by Iran or its proxies while they're within the US or one of its territories?

to undermine or national interests,

'National interests' - euphemism for US oil, gas, other resources and their shipment. The US national interests should be finding ways to reduce reliance on burning so much oil and gas, providing better health care for all, improving infrastructure, providing affordable educational to ensure more Americans are able to compete in ever-changing economies, and cleaning up our polluted environment.

So how many US "conservatives" are happy Iranians are voting for their counterparts in Iran?

You know, the Iranian conservatives like the Ayotollah, the Mullahs, and the late Soleimani?

Good for them. The US needs to leave sovereign states alone, stop 'meddling' in their affairs.

And they equally need to leave the US alone and stop using their proxies to kill our troops and to undermine or national interests, if they don’t, I’m sure they’ll be happy to receive more sanctions which are severely hurting that country.

Of course, when you identify someone as 'conservative', no matter how left wing their social and economic policies are, if they believe Iran should remain an independent, sovereign country, and someone 'reformist and moderate', no matter how brutally right wing their social and economic policies are, if they believe that Iran should surrender sovereignty to the US, things get very misleading, fast.

The reality is that the over 20 candidate choices the average Iranian voter has to choose from cover a pretty broad spectrum of social and economic policies. And the US actions over the past few years (including the murder one of the most popular and respected persons in Iran) means that anyone talking about appeasing the US is pretty much on the political fringe even more so this year than normal.

So, Iran is accelerating work on attaining nuclear weapons and is turning more right wing.

Thanks Trump.

Everything the US touches turns to gold.

Iranians are choosing their own fate and “do not allow a person sitting in Washington to make decisions for them.

Good for them. The US needs to leave sovereign states alone, stop 'meddling' in their affairs. It will be interesting to see whether Iran's partner Russia will 'meddle' in this election, too.
