It would be nice if Iran were or become serious about talks and it would be nice if when that miracle happens that we are still willing to listen.

What I'm curious about is the picture of the guy riding the scooter

I believe it runs on peaceful Iranian nuclear power.

Silly headline. Iran wants, once again, to buy time with obfuscating "talks" while going ahead full throttle on the nuclear bomb program. Anybody who thinks these "talks" have any impact on the the bomb program are going to buy a bridge in Brooklyn.

I think it's just a matter of time before the USA and a few others can turn around and say "We told ya so!" . That will be the day that Iran repeats the same scenario as North Korea by setting off earthquake sensors around the world with a signature that screams we just tested a Nuke ! With a country like that that can't respect it's own people and publically announces to the world that Israel should be wiped from the map. It's not hard to see that Israel needs to perform now.

If Iran was truly developing for peaceful purposes then there would be absolutely no reason for kicking out inspectors,it should be the opposite and loading up any facility with monitoring personal who are there only to observe.

Iran is a farce, they will look like the worlds biggest liar and shame on us for allowing yet another country that shouldn't have them ....get them !

If either had Nukes detonate on their land, the whole world would reap the results of that. Fallout travels and these weapons are how big in yield ?? The whole world would suffer the repercussions of any event like that.

I'm sick of this right wing American love affair with all things Israeli, and the way the Israelis exploit this misguided love to furrther their illegal behaviours in the Middle East.

Except for the Iranian threats on Israel and Israel's threats to respond and vis a versa, Israel actually has very little to do with this discussion or the UN, IAEA's response to Iran's behavior. Iran has not been cooperating with the IAEA and the IAEA has said this on several occasions. The IAEA has no love for Israel and neither do its leaders. Mentioning Israel in this is a red herring. If Iran followed the rules it agreed to, we would not be having this discussion, Israel or no Israel.

What will the odd couple do for an encore?

Start a war?

What is a difference between Iran and other nuclear nations...?

I thought this answer would be quite clear. The biggest difference is that, as far as we know, Iran does not have nuclear weapons, yet and the idea is that they do not get them. If you don't like the countries that have them having them, why would you want more countries having them so that you can not like them having them?

I agree with Ben, like I stated in my post, Iran could have possibly avoided all it's issues just by being transparent with world bodies VIA the IAEA.

They were offered a equal exchange on the fuel they needed for accountability and safety purposes.

As for the comparatives used concerning IRAN versus India , pakistan and friends...none of them are speaking out internationally and stating the holocast of WW2 is not true or fictitious like Iran has nor made open statements along the line that Israel should be wiped off the map.

A country that can openly state ill thoughts or possible intent , common sense would dictate that it's not such a great idea for that type of insolent thinking country to bare weapons of this type.

"What I'm curious about is the picture of the guy riding the scooter......? Is he somehow involved in the nuclear crisis? heh"

Judging by the cars churned out by the Iranians, I'd say it is possible the war-head delivery method?

The upside us that the Hamas and Hezbollah will be able to use them with minimal training....

The insane theocrats running the show in Iran have to deliver on the promises of hope and change made back in 1979. Aint gonna be pretty , any way you slice it.

Let's see ... if Israel bombs the nuclear facilities in Iran ... then what? ... another Chernoble, another Three Mile Island, or another Fukushima fiasco? Hope cooler heads prevail 'cause there's already enough radiation floating around on the loose in this world. And if Iran does get nuclear bombs and uses one ... then no matter what it's bye-bye to the nuclear facilities in Iran. Then we'll just have to get use to more radiation ... And Iran's oil will really be up for grabs ...

Iran is just buying time in order to progress as much as possible. No amount of talk will make them stop their aim to acquire the nuclear bomb. When they do, if no attempts are made to damage/destroy the facilities soon, Iran will be talking different. Don't expect them to be any LESS aggressive in their stance. In fact it will be more, much more when they know that everyone understand they can hurl a nuclear bomb at Israel/Saudi Arabia/Kuwait/UAE/Eastern Europe/US Aircraft carrier - take your pick, and they will do it at the slightest provocation. The issue then will be a big nuclear cleanup of the scale many times Chernobyl/Fukushima combined. Can Russia/China then step forward and lead this cleanup or even contribute money & effort to it? These are the two countries seemingly suporting Iran and will be responsible for what will happen. The effect of a 3rd nuclear bomb explosion in this fragile world of ours will cripple the world economy. You need not worry about global warming, animal species extinction, flu pandemic etc as these will become side issues when Israel launch their reprisal attacks against Iran.

@tigerguy

Please don't start a war! Let's talk it out and find a resolution. Life is too precious to be destroyed by a few leaders who can't come to an agreement and common ground.

I hear ya... but unfortunately it doesn't work that way. History has shown bad guys only "talk" in order to buy time to do bad things. As history has repeatedly demonstrated, when people don't accept this reality is when things get really bad -- just look at WW2 for a whole series of examples.

Wanting peace is both admirable, and to be encouraged. However, there are also times when one needs to realize that your advisory has no intention of joining in your desires for peace; and realize it in time to stop the worse from happening.

The talks have to continue. Who knows, maybe Iran will change their tune with the thought of their financial sector under fire. Even if they don't it's like Obama said.....if they try to use talks as a way to delay or distract while they continue with nuclear production then they'll just be adding another nail in their coffin. Not his words specifically, but I agree with his point that you have to exhaust all diplomatic options first in order for a military response to be credible.

Looking at the comments it appears all people have taken a stand, so have Russia, China and Iran, the world needs a balance of power. After the cold war there has been a vacum in which America dominated and now that is changing, maybe for the better as it will not be so easy to start a war unilaterally without consequences.

Russia scores political points at home, as many politicians do, by badmouthing the US. That's not really anything new.

What I'm curious about is the picture of the guy riding the scooter......? Is he somehow involved in the nuclear crisis? heh

It is no problem for Iran to try to develop nuclear weapons untile other nuclear nations decide to eliminate their own nuclear weapons. What is a difference between Iran and other nuclear nations including Israel, India, and Pakistan? seems unfair to criticize only Iran severely.

It's 2012. The Mayans predicted the end. The bible said "Man will destroy himself" So with war looming we shouldn't be surprised.

Putin's sin is pride. This man wants GLORY. He'd love to be the one to push the button. Launching missiles at the U.S and plunging the world into darkness. It's going to be chaos.

The only way to stop war from coming is to remove those who utter words of hostility towards people who are worlds apart. Clean safe renewable energy is the only way to sate the greed. We'll see what happens.

Those of us who experienced 3.11 and Fukushima have already gotten a taste of what the world would be like. No gas, no food on the shelves, the world halted in it's tracks.

It only takes one day. If Russia and America bump heads just one time, the missiles will fly. Neither country will take a chance that the other will surprise them with a full scale nuclear attack.

I'm sorry, but if Israel attacks and the Americans automatically side with her, why shouldn't the Chinese/Russians or whoever side with the Iranians? I'm sick of this right wing American love affair with all things Israeli, and the way the Israelis exploit this misguided love to furrther their illegal behaviours in the Middle East.

Adolf Hitler did the same thing in the 30's and the other governments said it was for internal politics. I think Putin is a madman and will do whatever required to stay in power. Iran is using them for protection and Putin is using anti Americanism to win votes. What will the odd couple do for an encore?

kaketama: What is a difference between Iran and other nuclear nations including Israel, India, and Pakistan?

I've thought long and hard about this and I can't see any different between Iran, Israel, India, and Pakistan. None at all.

I read that the anti-American talk is strong from Russia. Wonders if Russia will attack Israel if they attack Iran? The Russian blather is the worse including during the cold war. I never believed the cold war ended. So will Russia attack what they perceive a weak USA?
