The tale of two Obama(s?) as usual in the quack mire of Iraq and M.E. Red line, reset button anyone?

Another day in paradise...

Muslims need to "reel in" other Muslims. It's funny how that never ever happens though....

WSJ indicates Maliki will be pushed out. It will be interesting to see who the Iraqi president will choose as the next PM.

The Obama administration is signaling that it wants a new government in Iraq without Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, convinced the Shiite leader is unable to reconcile with the nation's Sunni minority and stabilize a volatile political landscape. The U.S. administration is indicating it wants Iraq's political parties to form a new government without Mr. Maliki as he tries to assemble a ruling coalition following elections...

Where's the pressure on the Saudis to use their sizable influence on the adherents of intolerant Wahhabism?

Oh yes, we're so addicted to oil we daren't say Boo to them.

What a farce.

For once the cowards are fighting with some semblance of military structure. Departing from the usual terrorist m/o of wearing civilian clothes and hiding behind women and children, the IS is credited with having mustered a sizable force, wearing uniforms and using (stolen) military hardware. I suspect they will find out that they have made a grave tactical error in doing so. #nowheretohide

I'm no fan of Obama but I hope he bombs these scumbags mercilessly.

Oh yes, we're so addicted to oil we daren't say Boo to them.

That may have been true back in the 1960s and 1970s, but now about 12.9% of the oil we get from the Persian Gulf is from Saudi Arabia. And as the US drills more for its own oil we will bypass and over take the market as the worlds la,greet oil producer, so this notion that the US is heavily dependent on Mideast oil is one of the biggest lies out there.

The group wants to establish religious rule in a caliphate straddling Syria and Iraq and has tapped into widespread anger among Iraq’s Sunnis at a democratic system dominated by the Shi’ite Muslim majority following the U.S. invasion of 2003.

So how do they justify killing and enslaving people that are not responsible?

Who mentioned the US's consumption? Granted, you're among the biggest per capita oil consumers (nearly double Japan and ten times China) with some of the world's least efficient cars and appliances, and a military that consumes more oil than Sweden.

But the US's interests in Big Oil extend way beyond its own profligate needs. However, let's stay on topic.

Why are we (as the world community) incapable of reigning in the House of Saud?

Or should I understand from your retort that the US (and no anti-Obama rants, please) can?

And damn proud of that military as well! Everything else! I don't give a......

Yeah, let's!

Why are we (as the world community) incapable of reigning in the House of Saud?

Why should they be reigned in? What for?

Or should I understand from your retort that the US (and no anti-Obama rants, please) can?

Because we're the only country that is keeping the Saudi royal family alive. As for the rants, I hope you remember and heed those same words when it comes to the previous admin.

I know the whole "why don't we go after Saudi Arabia" is just a red herring thrown into the discussion by lefties who can't argue a point on its own merits .... but, the Saudis are as corrupt as it gets. They have had their dirty little fingers in most of the trouble that's gone down on this planet for the last several decades. They pull strings and donate money behind the scenes whilst pretending to be socially responsible allies of the West. And that isn't even to mention all the human rights abuses that go on in that country.

So yeah, the Saudis absolutely need someone to tell them what's what. Its disgraceful the free pass these guys get from the US.

B4f,

I don't give a......

We wouldn't have noticed.

Why should they be reigned in? What for?

As this seems to be the question du jour, why not start on their $3Bn annual spend on proselytizing Wahhabism, the Saudis' favorite brand of intolerant, hate-everyone-but-our-own-sect Islam. There'd be no ISIS or Caliph Ibrahim without it.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend does not apply with what's goin' on here. It's more like the enemy of my enemy is my enemy.

As you see these pictures and watched on tv and through internet, indeed a great persecotion, brutality, crimes against innocent people. I know conscienced peoples can not ignore such as massacre. Unfortunatelly i didnt heard any condemnation from MUSLIMS, Did any one hear? This meant Silently to confirm if the massacre doing by the hand of Al-Bashir ( Sudan ), Saddam, IS, is ok. If a man or a woman killed by Israel NON. Thats why you have to support KURDS

Which is true and makes skeptic bedfellows, however it is stratigically important to keep the peace and partnership with countries like Saudi Arabia and Egypt because they as well as Israel are our closest allies and sometimes, you have to lay with dogs, even though you know you'll wind up with fleas. We have self interests as well as interests for our friends and the region

You will not hear criticism of Muslims no matter how brutal and horrid they have become. Why? Because it is not politically correct to do so in polite Western society. The thought police will not allow it. Now you can criticize conservatives in the harshest terms for denying say - a rich Harvard coed her right to free birth control paid for by taxpayers. You can criticize Jews well - because they are all rich and it seems that it is once again fashionable to hate Jews. But you dare not criticize Muslims when they cut off heads or wage jihad in the name of Allah. That is considered hate and will not be tolerated. That is the twisted world we live in today.

I posted this before, but maybe it's time for a repeat.

From the Muslim Council of Britain's website:

"Whilst all of Iraq's leaders have a case to answer for the deepening divisions, often violently, in this fragile state; the depth and scale of barbarity attributed to ISIS is particularly unconscionable and is to be repudiated. Its actions are turning Iraqis further against each other, increasing sectarianism and are the driver of Muslims killing one another."

I have always valued the ability of not getting involved in internal disputes ! Apparently this doesn't apply to Governments !
