Qasem Soleimani is an interesting individual, as in the Iranian involvement in general.

The same man that brought us "Mission Accomplished". A little premature?

Woot! Animals are on the run now!
Commodore Shmidlap (Retired)
What a mess. It's almost as if a major world power invaded, mucked everything up and then bugged out after tossing money around and declaring victory without ever having an understanding of the religious and tribal forces underneath and no long-term plan for what happens after.

@Commodore You forgot the part about the ME being a haven for nutters.

Lets stop calling them Iraqi forces.
These are Shia militias backed by Iran.
Iraqi forces ran off when the ISIS got close, and months and plenty of training, weapons supplied by US, later they still seem no better.

I'm not comparing them. I'm not American and quite frankly don't give a stuff about US policies where it does not concern me.
But, if you are able to understand I'm saying this in isolation, GWB was an incompetent ninny who has a lot of blood on his hands. Is Iraq today anything near "Mission Accomplished" status? Nope.
As for Obama, or anybody else, good luck trying to do anything in that neck of the woods. If the Shia militias, including their backer Iran, and the moderate Sunnis can restrain themselves, including leaving the Kurds alone, in their common fight against IS, things just may improve. One can always hope for a miracle.

Racism is a horrible place to live.
Leadership ability has absolutely nothing to do with a persons race, creed, color or religion. Leadership isn't bred, leadership is learned through experience, education and respect of elders. You appear to be a bit intolerant of other who aren't pure Black, this is the same mindset that plunged the world into war.
Here is the truth, the people that live off of welfare don't pay a cent to his wages, donate to his political party or to his charities.
The folks that live their entire lives unemployed are government moochers and those aren't the folks he answers to, the folks who pay their taxes are. Folks that live off welfare their entire lives are uneducated, because they are always expecting to live off handouts like common beggars.
The people who work for a living and make an honest paycheck are the folks who do donate to his causes and pay his wages. That is why he panders to them. If you want to change that then move to Communist Cuba, China or North Korea.
There are three types of people in this world the uneducated rabble, the semi-educated and the educated. BTW, being EDUCATED doesn't mean a person spent 20 years in college. Some of the most ignorant uneducated folks I have ever met had 10 times more degrees than I. The education I am talking about is the knowledge and wisdom one learns from education, personal experience and from wise honest elders.
Living an entire life off welfare isn't a right, it's an excuse of the lazy. They are living in a form of enslavement and don't have the sense to understand it. They believe that the government owes them money because of this or that.
Folks that live off welfare their entire lives are the uneducated They live off the government enslavement welfare system because they are so wrapped up in the "they owe me" mindset that they don't have a clue that they are actually slave. If they had a real honest job they wouldn't know what to do.

and the part about the locals taking the major world power for a long ride. and the major world power not really caring what a mess they might have made. and this being a godsend for the military-industrial complex as it gives a nice enemy to justify ongoing profligacy on arms etc.

Basher:
It is amazing how you guys manage to blame GWB for everything, yet manage completely blank out Obamas role in all this. It is as if some pople here read all the news through a color filter.
Fact is, both US parties plus the Euro politicians have consitently made disastrous policy blunders in regard to the Middle East and islamic fundamentalism. To turn this into a Western party political issue is ridiculous.
