and away we go....

Such gratitude from our "friends", the "liberated" Iraqis. I say blockade that sh*thole and let them all kill themselves. That way, no more good American/allied lives need be wasted.

“He stole my technique,” al-Zeidi later quipped.

Well you stole Bush's shoe dodging technique.

Shoe throwing is the new way of settling a gentleman's dispute.

It's far more civilized than pistols at dawn or a drive-by shooting.

Maybe they'll make a special line of steel toed cleats for the man who gets in more duels than he knows what to do with.

First it was a pie in the face a la Bill Gates, now it's shoes.

10,000.00 JPY = 115.164 USD If thats cheap where do u buy your shoes? Or u missed one ZERO

throwing a shoe is still far better than throw a hand grenade at anyone.

A taste of his own medicine.

"The identity of the new shoe-thrower—and his motivation—weren’t immediately clear, but he appeared to be an Iraqi."

An Iraqi living where, may I ask? The relatively safe confines of France? Huge significance there.

They say "a shoe to the mouth, is worth two to the foot" -I have no idea what that means, but I am sure it is sound political advice.

The French do know and appreciate their shoes however. -Fact.

This is the same as throwing a shoe at Mr Obama and old dead Saddam Hussein, that's what I reckon!!!

smithinjapan at 12:59 PM just nailed it. Expect conservatives to ignore those points, however. Oh wait! Wayne alread did!

Would not be surprised to learn he was paid to do this by some American irrelephant group.

Anyway, you live by the shoe, you die by the shoe!

I have been practicing with beach sandals and have gotten pretty good. No one could duck from one of my tosses.

An Iraqi that had to flee Iraq under Saddam to avoid getting tortured and killed I'd reckon.

Muntadhar al-Zeidi, a TV reporter, became a hero to many opponents of the Iraq war when he hurled his shoes at Bush during a news conference in Baghdad in December 2008 while shouting: “This is from the widows, the orphans and those who were killed in Iraq.”

He is a hero, a modern day Robin Hood.

sailwind: An Iraqi that had to flee Iraq under Saddam to avoid getting tortured and killed I'd reckon.

And stayed away after Saddam got toppled to avoid getting tortured and killed by AQ, unleased Shiites, or Lynddie England and friends. Or not even Iraqi. Plenty of possibilities so I would hesistate to "reckon'" at this time. Even a betting man would just float theories at this point.

I "reckoned" that I could count on liberals to ignore my points, however.

I bet right on my "theory".

I "reckoned" that I could count on liberals to ignore my points, however.

I would question your understanding of the word "ignore", however, I am not a liberal. Your idea is accepted as a possibility with me, however it is only one among many.

I bet right on my "theory".

You bet, but only time can tell if you bet "right". I am too smart to bet on such flimsy evidence. I would at least wait until it is proven if he is Iraqi or not. They said he "appeared to be" Iraqi. What? Iraqi's have a purple stripe across their forehead or something? Almost, but not quite, nonsense. No doubt he looked Middle Eastern, but that is about all a man could say.

numbskull,

Google is your friend.

Introducing himself in Arabic as an Iraqi journalist-in-exile at a Paris news conference, the attacker made a brief speech accusing Muntazer al-Zaidi of working for dictatorship and then shouted "here's another shoe for you."

It's from a French News Agency

http://www.france24.com/en/node/4937822

I would seem I was pretty close to mark after all in my original 'bet' and conjecture.

Looks like the shoe's on the other foot.

A "hero," my a**, "LoveUsa." The man had every opportunity to lob a shoe at Saddam Hussein but never did because he knew his whole family would be raped and dumped into a wood chipper. He threw one at Pres. Bush and what was the worst that happened to him? No, LoveUsa. Al-Zeidi's in a different league, a softer league. "Robin Hood"? Please write back you were joking.

A taste of his own medicine.

Dare I say...The shoe is off the other foot?

Japanusa man if he had conked Bush in the head he would have got the Time magazine person of the year award. Outside of redneck america everyone loved what this guy did.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

numbskull: "smithinjapan at 12:59 PM just nailed it. Expect conservatives to ignore those points, however. Oh wait! Wayne alread did!"

Bang on. But hey, maybe these guys can tell us how many shoes the guy has had thrown at him in Iraq since getting out of prison where he was tortured and beaten by the democratic Iraqis? How about the number of people who, instead of throwing shoes, simply bowed at his feet? Nah! :)

finbarr: "Outside of redneck america everyone loved what this guy did."

Clearly this guy is outside of redneck America. But is I subtly tried to point out, he's an Iraqi who wouldn't DARE go back and live in the destroyed Iraq, would he?

What utter stupidity, throwing ones shoes about like that. Have any of you got any idea just how cold it is in Paris at the moment? And yes it is raining too. And this fool now has to walk home with at least one shoe missing. Idiot.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

sailwind,

"An Iraqi that had to flee Iraq under Saddam to avoid getting tortured and killed I'd reckon."

Or one of the millions that fled to avoid secretarian violence, kidnapping, torture and bombings after Saddam was deposed......you never can tell.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Grafton,

"And this fool now has to walk home with at least one shoe missing"

There be some natty shoe shops in Paris. Just bough a binding pair of Diesel boots up there, though I wouldn't want to receive them in the face!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

So some people on this thread are simply laughing at this guy because he, as an unknown reporter took on the world's most 'powerful' (and definitely among the stupidest) person by throwing a shoe at him to show his utter contempt. The man in THIS situation who threw the shoe will remain unknown whereas, ahem, al-Zeidi will continue to go about his news conference tours around the world.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

You should never encourage negative behavior -No matter what the Libs say, but shoe throwers still have the right to practice and one day throw that perfect shoe.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

He should be charged with assault, just like I said with the other shoe thrower. I don't decide justice based on how much I like or dislike the victim.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

smithinjapan: But hey, maybe these guys can tell us how many shoes the guy has had thrown at him in Iraq since getting out of prison where he was tortured and beaten by the democratic Iraqis?

Yeah, what ever happened to that? I mean the guy was tortured and beaten, right? Did the mainstream media just decide to bury the story since, ya know, no one would be interested in hearing about it?

You should stay on top of this story and let us know the details. I think it's great that you've decided to express outrage over imaginary torture in Iraq. It's a big leap over the real torture that you refused to speak of under Saddam.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'm not against the sentiment behind either of these shoe throwing incidents, but I am against throwing things in general. Didn't any of these people learn that throwing things at others is wrong? I never voted for Bush and feel passionately about his presidential legacy (aka what we're trying to recover from), but violence is not a way to get your point across.

If Gandhi/Martin L.King/Cesar Chavez can do things non violently and have their voices heard, why can't we do the same?

Throwing things is an exercise in futility as far as real change is concerned. Grow up and learn to get your point heard through adult actions.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This is not news. Ignore it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The man in THIS situation who threw the shoe will remain unknown whereas, ahem, al-Zeidi will continue to go about his news conference tours around the world.

As long as he knows how to duck.

SuperLib [You should stay on top of this story and let us know the details. I think it's great that you've decided to express outrage over imaginary torture in Iraq. It's a big leap over the real torture that you refused to speak of under Saddam.] Hahahahahahha!! Oh man that was a good one. Poor Richard will do anything to praise those who insult GWB but vilify any that believe he did the right thing. The ultimate hypocrite that pretends to care about Iraqis and US servicemen but has very selective pity. Again the left prove their silliness.

A shoe for a shoe leaves the world with bare feet. I wonder if the next James Bond villian will have a henchman who can throw a shoe so hard it can break statues.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I guess that makes him a "sole" survivor.
