Well, it's just a fact that the vast majority of pedophiles are homosexual. It has been very apparent for years now that the priesthood in the Catholic church has been a magnet for gay men with a sexual fetish for boys. The Boy Scouts have also attracted gay scout leaders in the past but the Scouts have caught on to this and are much better at protecting their kids from homosexual child predators.

Is a pedophile automatically a homosexual? It seems that way by the talk here. Homosexual pedophiles they are. Unless an alter girl will do as well. But they leave evidence I guess.

The Catholic church has always had it’s “eccentrics” and they have always protected their own no matter how evil those people have shown themselves to be.

Skipthesong is 100% correct, there is no place in the world today for religion. But more than that there is certainly no place for a Catholic church that believes it has rights beyond the law.

A pedo is a pedo, no matter what clothing they hide behind. But obviously, quite a lot of pedos believe that hiding within the Catholic church is a damn good place to hide, as this comes out over and over again around the world with Pedos and Catholicism. I am not a religious person, but I wish religions would look at their flocks more carefully. Same with teachers.

I haven't heard of Irish missionary priest sex offenders in the Philippines (I grew up in a small town where the favorite pastime is rumor mongering) but in the 80s I heard of Filipino priest sex offenders.

How many times am I gonna have to say it to get it through people's skulls - religion has no place in the modern world. Or at the very lest, take away its powers.

I'm Irish, and this story just broke today. It will be interesting to see tomorrow's reaction. Today's report shows that when a complaint was made to the poilce, they simply went and reported the complaint back to the clergy. Also, one of the Bishops, who had a degree in civil law, apparently claimed he didn't realise that incidents of abuse should be reported to authorities.

This report comes on the back of a report about 3/4 months ago about the total failure of the state to protect children in orphanages or other kinds of care from abusers who were...surprise surprise....members of the Catholic church.

What made waves that time was that the govt agreed with the church that the church share of compensation deals would be capped at €126 million. Considering the estimated total liability will be in the region of €1.3 billion, people are already extremely angry with the church.

It sickens me, right to my core.

Celibacy is not a cause of priests' child abuse. I don't know how many times I have seen readers bring that up. If a heterosexual priest finds celibacy unbearable, then he will have sex with a woman, not an altar boy. There were priests in my neighborhood, when I was growing up, who were having affairs with women in their parish. It was common knowledge.

These priests are pedophiles and would be no matter what profession they were in.

If anything this shows the catholic churchs celibacy rules are atotal failure and priests are not as holy as theyd like us to think.
