I've been there. Back in '88. It quite scenic, ironically.

These forces have said multiple times that when they are done with Syria, they will head to Israel. Their hands are tied up in Syria at the moment, so we have to be prepared for that development.

Another reason why bombing Gaza was a strategic recipe for disaster?

I was there 20 years ago when I was a passenger in a cruise ship. Tour guide took us to the city of David where I was standing on the hill looking over the dark blue Med. Ocean through Olive trees. It was very peaceful then. .

No, another reason why supporting the Sunni Jihadi uprising against Assad was strategic recipe for disaster. Now, we are looking a the Islamic Caliphate next to Israel. Well done, Obama and Cameron.... not.

Much as you would like to blame Israel for everything, bombing Gaza has nothing to do with this. Israel did not support the Syrian jihadis; the US did (plus the usual sponsors like Qatar, Saudi, and Turkey).

Au contraire, WilliB. I wish Israel the best, and peaceful coexistence with all her neighbors.

Can one really deny that bombing (Sunnis in) Gaza hardens ISIS fighters' resolve to attack Israel?

Yes, one can. ISIS "fighters" (ghee, how glad I am that there are no terrorists anymore) hate the Jewish state anyway. If Israel responds to rocket attacks from Gazah or just sits still and takes has nothing to do with that.

ISIS has been fighting their jihad long before the latest conflagration in Gazah. That they will start attacking Israel once they have control of Syria is a given anyway. Israel`s crime, in their mind, is that it exists.

WilliB: While I agree that the US (giving military arms, aid and money) to rebel jihadist was a recipe for disaster. Israel has been making itself a focused target for a long time now, continuous occupation, building even more illegal settlements and it's bombing campaign's has only been promoting more extremist to come their way. Do you think those actions have been helping their plight? Globalwatcher: Israel destroyed more than 7500 of those Palestinian olive trees you so admired, another action that undermines possible peace between them.

Did you pull a muscle making such a long reach on that one?

I was there in Dec. 74, and got to see the hulks of lots of wrecked Syrian tanks. Don't know if that can be called scenic or not.

Yes, one can. ISIS "fighters" (ghee, how glad I am that there are no terrorists anymore) hate the Jewish state anyway.

And that hatred is in no way or form influenced by events in Gaza...

Good luck!

Gee, I can only imagine what the Yazidis, Christians did to the ISIS to inspire such hate.

Its commonly known that the ISIS does not need reason to hate.

Thanks, Ulysses

The Palestinian issue played no role whatsoever in radicalizing the Londoner in the ISIS video.

Exactly. The US surreptitiously supporting Al Nusra Front in an attempt to oust Assad via CIA transfers is now coming back on Israel and the US. Stupid.

Earlier the army said it had responded by hitting two Syrian army posts.

Why does Israel always retaliate against the Syrian Army when it is attacked by Syrian Rebels?

SuperLib & WilliB: I guess you two believe that the Israeli occupation, building more illegal settlements, bombing campaigns, destroying Palestinian water aquifers and over 7500 olive trees, helps Israel make more friends in the region! SuperLib, since you often blame liberals for most problems in the world, I will remind you of the definition of Liberal: NOT limited to Authoritarian attitudes, views or dogmas. Free of bigotry. What do you stand for? Maybe you are confusing Liberals with another group?
