Iran warns it will defend itself after Israeli strikes

There's one mistake here, only Israel has the right to "defend" with all immunity it can get, it doesn't matter even when it violates international law and human rights. No other country will be allow to do defense their own country.

See, you want to defend yourself before the enemy attacks.

2 ( +10 / -8 )

Iran deserved that and more.

-1 ( +13 / -14 )

Let's not forget who initiated this war - the Hamas and Iran proxies. Iran is behind all of it. Israel has the right to defend itself for survival. If your country is in the same situation, I'm sure you'll also do the same to your enemies.

Israel is a paper tiger, Israelis Jews live a rocket away from being obliterated, all the genocide in the world, will.not bring them security only through a 2 party state solution

If Iran decides not to retaliate after this, they walk away the bigger man imo.

However, even if they do walk away, there is a high chance that Israel will attack again. They cant help themselves. Nethanyahu wants a wider war in the Middle East, and until he is ousted, the risk of a wider conflict remains.

If my country was involved in a 78 year illegal occupation and project of ethnic cleansing I would protest the hell out of it, or worst case leave for the safety of my family.

-1 ( +8 / -9 )

Iran should renounce from its "death to Israel" agenda.

The Israeli nation extended its hand three times to the Palestinian nation, in a bid to settle the conflict and to establish peace based on two states coexisting side by side, with the state of Israel being a partnership of Jews and Arabs. The Palestinians, inspired by their extremist leadership, responded three times with a refusal, and with an attempt to wipe out the Jews from the land.

The first such cycle: The Palestinian rejection of the UN General Assembly resolution from 1947 to establish two states, A Jewish-Arabic state and an Arabic state, and the launching of the disastrous 1948 war.

The second cycle: The two nations embarked on the Oslo path in the 1990s. But then, in the year 2000, Arafat changed his mind, made a U-turn and launched a campaign of terror, wherein buses exploded in the streets, cafes and restaurants were exploded, and a massacre was committed in a hotel where elderly people gathered for the holiday.

The third cycle: Israel applied for Saudi mediation in the 2020s. Hamas decided to thwart the mediation effort made by Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Hamas launched a large-scale massacre and a war on October 7 2023. Lebanon joined the next day. All of this was done with the support and under the control of the Mullahs regime of Iran.

The extremist Arabs and Persians reject the two state solution. They aspire to commit genocide.

The monopoly of violence.

I would suggest we all get behind israel or we are next .Protest all you like but when the bombers come they don't search for their targets its anyone who happens to be around at a concert ,park anywhere .And they will come

How convenient and admirable: people rewriting history from excerpts taken on social media. Seventy years of illegal occupation of Palestinian territories by Israeli settlers, which is the root of the problem here, with the arrogant attitude instigated by the economic interests of Washington lobbies, and here they are justifying this massacre of tens of thousands of innocent children and women, and a warmongering interpretation of dialogue. What you omit is that Israel is killing itself in this conflict, and all the money amassed by their sponsors inside the United Stated circles, will not save their souls or solve any of the problems they created.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

""Israel warned Iran would "pay a heavy price" if it responded to the strikes, and the United States, Germany and Britain demanded Tehran not escalate the conflict further.""

Iran has the right to defend itself AS WELL, or is it not!??

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Iran may not Directly retaliate as it is retaliating daily with it's proxies.

Yet you support a huuuuuuge Israel supporter, why?

Iran lobbed missiles at Israel first

Iran ready to DEFEND itself. You gotta love the times we live in. This is how WW3 would most likely start in our neighborhood. Think of the Middle East as a dress rehearsal.

Some sort of episode in the disputed territory open seas between say China and Japan, the Philippines or the US navy. America being pushed into some small scale action by against our increasingly and strategically aggressive CCP friends playing the zero-sum game. We think we are playing chess, but they are playing go.

Shooting down a missile or sinking a militia boat, something like that. An event. Wouldn’t take much. China too, would run to the UN ( face ) and play the narrative of having to DEFEND itself from the encroaching West, just as Iran is doing now with Israel. Victimhood weaving has become one of the art forms of the generation. We will even have our own useful idiots from within chirp in to back them up with much zest and vigor!

China are hoping to have set up enough sympathizers, ( just as Lebanon and Iran are attempting to do now ) using the tools at hand. ( anti-American sentiment from within the UN, anti-colonialism , a media and press in disarray and confusion, having lost sight of core principles in the confusing and disconnect we see in the global waters. See Douglas Murray for reference ) One side still thinks they can be friends with everyone, the other has zero intentions of befriending their sworn historical enemy.

Like Palpatine, the dark Sith in Star Wars, play the victim and boom, like magic it’s on! WW3 baby. Everyone like, “How could this happen???”

Ok, a bit of tongue in cheek, but it is Sunday!

May the force be with us all! Beautiful day out there today in sushiland.

What’s Iran going to do?

Sponsor another October 7th Massacre?

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

If Israel understands anything at all, it's that its national survival is not a popularity contest. It takes guts for a country of 9 million people to go head-to-head with one with a population 10 times its size. Can't help but admire that.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

It's good to see Iran is so impotent. The Israelis flew through Iranian airspace without any resistance.

If only there was hope the religious leaders could be toppled.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

All Zionist leaders a legit targets. If they hide among civilians, then well, too bad.

What a weird remark. First of all, not all Zionists are Israelis. Secondly, aren't Israel's leaders also civilians? Elected to their positions through democratically held elections?

There is no doubt that Washington is the main responsible for the geopolitical instability of the whole globe despite what all the movie goers are saying in this forum.

Listen to American political scientist John Mearsheimer.

In the mean time, after all the mayhem in the Middle East and the 18 billions dollars in lethal weapons sent to Israel, the US administration is trying to turn the Asian continent into another powder keg. It seems that Japan should be "grateful" to the mail ally:

Iran is a UN member state which strives to annihilate another UN member state.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

NB

Last time I’ve checked it was Israel’s IDF conducting a massacre of 43.000 people and counting in Gaza and a Lebanon, and it is Washington the main supplier of arms to Israel.

According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), the US accounted for 69% of Israel's imports of major conventional arms between 2019 and 2023.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

No, Israeli leaders are not civilians

These leaders are trying to defend their populace from the genocidal intentions of the Mullahs regime of Iran, Hamas and Lebanon.

No, Israeli leaders are not civilians

If the political leaders of Israel are not civilians then the political leaders of France are not civilians as well.

Just as a reminder once again, to put into contest what is going on, with Wall Street on all time high despite the geopolitical instability.

The top 5 arms manufacturers in the world are all American, controlled by the usual hedge funds (Blackrock, Vanguard, Fidelity, you name it)

Lockheed Martin Corp

Raytheon Technologies

Northrop Grumman Corp

Boeing

General Dynamics Corp

Yesterday the top two have signed another agreement with Japan’s government:

Given what Israel did is exponentially worse than Oct 7, all zionists who supported Israel in that genocide are legit targets.

Israel had no choice but to stop and fend off the atack and massacre launched by Hamas. It was a genocidal massacre. The atrocities committed are indescribable.

All Zionist leaders a legit targets. If they hide among civilians, then well, too bad.

The Zionist movement is a movement which seeks to find a refuge to the Jewish people and to Judaism. The Jewish people have been persecuted, and murdered in their millions using methods of unimaginable cruelty.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Jews realized they were not safe even after living 2000 years in Europe. So they decided to drive away or kill Palestinians by force with the help of westerners.

The Zionist movement aspired that the Jews would live together side by side with the Arabs.

Here is evidence: https://news.un.org/en/story/2024/01/1145807.

This "evidence" is ludicrous. It is a recent citation from Guterres. It has nothing to do with the vision of the Zionist thinkers.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

The citation from Guterres says that "Rejection of two-State solution by Israeli leadership 'unacceptable'".

But who reject the two-State solution? These are Iran, Hamas, Lebanon and their supporters.

Israel itself is a Jewish-Arabic partnership. And the pacifist Arabic state of Palestine, led by sane political circles who seek peace, development and prosperity should be established next to Israel.

Iran warns it will defend itself after Israeli strikes

It is still tit-for-tat. Both sides are not willing enter into a direct war, which inevitably would involve the superpowers. The attacks from both sides have been selective and large for show.

Now, if Israel were to take out Irans oil facilities and the nuclear installations, that would be a game changer. But it has not happened and hopefully will not.

The optimal solution sane people can hope for is a regime change in Iran. Remember, under the Shah Iran was friendly with Israel. All the "wipe the Jewish entity of the map" and "death to America" started Khomeinis takeover in Teheran. Which many Iranians did not support.

Hi Zaphod, in case you missed it, here is an interesting insight of some of the American-Backed Coups, including the Mohammad Mosaddegh change of regime in Iran in 1953
