Just another day of Israel abusing the human rights of the Palestinians. Repugnant.

13 ( +16 / -3 )

Des Israel even bother to tell Trump anymore or do they just assume he will rubber stamp anything?

12 ( +15 / -3 )

You can’t take something that was never yours to begin with

You can. It’s called stealing.

12 ( +13 / -1 )

Their land, their politics, if they think it’s the right thing to do, so be it.

... except that it is not their land.

in an area that Israel captured and occupied in the 1967 Middle East War.

They illegally occupied that land, it does not belong to them. Only Israel recognizes that land as theirs.

11 ( +14 / -3 )

Then the Palestinians should stop.

Stop what? Stop having their land stolen?

11 ( +12 / -1 )

I feel the same about you guys.

Great but you aren't saying anything about why the Nakba occurred and why the Palestinians should allow their people to be killed, their land taken and their rights stifled.

Could you explain why it's ok to brutalize and persecute, push out and destroy the Jewish people over 70 years and to fund such brutality?

Do you ever get tired with the counter arguments and deflections?

You know the history of Zionism, right? You do know that Palestinians, Jews and Christians all lived together, spoke the same language and shared Palestine until Herzl's ideology took hold.

How can this latest ethnic cleansing be a good thing?

11 ( +13 / -2 )

So where is the condemnation of Israel for annexing Palestinian lands, where is the condemnation for Israeli human rights abuse, where is the condemnation of the US for supporting Israel with arms and money? Oh, that's right, I forgot, this is not being done by China or Russia so its all right. As I have already said on this site, the hypocrisy and xenophobia of some commentators is breathtaking.

10 ( +15 / -5 )

I said specially

Hmmm.

When it comes to Israel you say a lot of special stuff, none of it with much substance. Could you explain why it's ok to brutalize the Palestinian people over 70 years and to fund such brutality?

10 ( +12 / -2 )

So the American Evangelical Christians on this site support ethnic cleansing? I wonder what Jesus would say about that?

Supporting ethnic cleansing in an apartheid state. It's hard to think of anything more un-Christian than that.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

The ethnic cleansing continues and some actually applaud it.

9 ( +13 / -4 )

good!

The Israel ingredient is certainly contained in the package rightists swallow whole.

Sometimes I envy the position of not having to think about things on their own merits.

Why is this a good thing?

9 ( +11 / -2 )

During the 1930's in Germany, Jews were persecuted. Jews had their businesses destroyed and property stolen. Jews were second class citizens and responsible for Germany's problems. During World War 2 the Nazi party rounded up Jews and forced many into ghetto's after taking everything they owned for the state. Later they were transferred to concentration camps for forced labor. Millions died from disease, starvation and over work and from being gassed in gas chambers.

In 1948 Jews were given land in the middle east, against the wishes of the land owners in the protectorate of Palestine. Israel has since then taken further swaths of land from Palestinians against their will. They have turned Gaza into the worlds largest Ghetto. Palestinians are treated as second class citizens and have their businesses destroyed and their home demolished. Children get shot for throwing stones. Citizens are regularly murdered by Israeli forces with no consequence.

When Palestinians fight for freedom, justice and to retaliate against Israeli Government aggression they get killed by the hundreds with modern military weapons that the Palestinians themselves do not posses.

There is no question that what the Nazi's did to the Jews was wrong.

That the Israeli government is persecuting Palestinians in a very similar way, without the labor camps or gas chambers, but in every other way it is identical to the action of Nazi's is no coincidence.

Those who were so badly treated (Jews) are now those who treat others so badly.

History repeats and the world watches. Tradgedy to be written in histories pages by future generations. They will not be kind to modern Israel in their condemnation.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Their land, their politics, if they think it’s the right thing to do, so be it.

... except that it is not their land.

Then the Palestinians should stop.

Stop what? Stop having their land stolen?

The gems we've come to love.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

You can’t take something that was never yours to begin with, if the roles were reversed, the Palestinians would never live side by side with the Israelis.

They did live side by side with the Israelis when it was Palestine. As I mentioned earlier. Until the Nakba.

Yes, but that’s not the issue here.

It is very much the issue here. Palestinians being driven off their lands. Again.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Their land, their politics, if they think it’s the right thing to do, so be it.

It's not just their land, though. That's the thing about it.

8 ( +12 / -4 )

Then the Palestinians should stop.

Stop being ethnically cleansed?

Stop having their homes being destroyed, stop being murdered and driven off their land?

You can’t take something that was never yours to begin with.

You know what the Nakba was, right? It was fuelled by that kind of sentiment.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Stop what? Stop having their land stolen?

Stop wanting it back of course.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Maybe if they can stop trying to kill, terrorize Israelis and actually use the aid they get to build schools instead of bombers and to make Qassam rockets there might be room for negotiation, but until then, it probably will never happen.

If you come into someone's country with all your friends and take people's lands, livelyhoods and language - treat them like crap - don't be surprised when the people start acting like crap.

Do you know anything about the Nakba?

8 ( +10 / -2 )

The European Union issued a statement saying: "The continuation of this policy undermines the viability of the two-state solution and the prospect for a lasting peace."

Well, obviously. Did you think that's what Trump and the hardline Israelis want or something?

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Israel the terrorists.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

The Israel ingredient is certainly contained in the package rightists swallow whole.

Sometimes I envy the position of not having to think about things on their own merits.

It's a head scratcher, for sure. Witness some loyalist communities flying Confederate flags, swastikas and Israel flags in and around the glorious 12th. Bizarre.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Trump became president but continues to give Israel $3 billion every year.

Yeah, so the US and the American people are complicit to Israel's crimes against humanity.

A grave injustice against the Palestinian people and world leaders do nothing.

Yeah, and the reasons for world leaders' inactivity is somehow considered off topic!!!

7 ( +8 / -1 )

"actually use the aid they get to build schools": bass4funk.

The Palestinians do use the aid to build schools but the Israelis keep bombing them or bulldozing them to still the land.

This is why Trump's  son-in-laws plan of just offering the Palestinians economic development will not work. Any new infrastructure  will be bombed by Israel with arms and money supplied by the US.

I'm finding some commentators are too bigoted to reason with.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

It seems that the Israeli people (mostly European converts to Judaism) learned a lot from their fellow Europeans in the Nazi movement in Germany.

History is repeating itself.

It is one reason for all the tension in the region!

5 ( +11 / -6 )

Hopeless nations with reckless movement. The truth is it has already been written that they will create problems until the end of the earth.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

The Palestinians should also be demolishing illegal Israeli settlements.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

The current messy geographic situation is a result of complicated history and not of a simplistic story with one villain surrounded by innocent angels.

Actually it is. Israel was created by theft in 1948. Without that fact, the current "messy geographic situation" would not exist. That Israel continues to steal lands not theirs, demolish homes legally built on Palestinian lands to Palestinian laws. Israel IS the one villain. And whats more their actions greatly emulate that of Nazi's in the 1930's. Arabs have the right to self defense and self determination, and also to justice. Israel denies these rights to Palestinians.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Israel will never, ever again allow anyone to displace them or destroy them and until the Palestinians learn this, the conflict will sadly continue.

Matter of perspective innit. Equally, the Palestinians will never allow someone to permanently displace them from their land, and until Israel learns this, the conflict will sadly continue.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Israel should stop pondering to idiots with no understanding of situation and do what it considers best to secure its land.

It's settlements are illegal - a violation of International Law, according to the UN.

Free Palestine!

1 ( +3 / -2 )

The two-state solution was never a reality .... merely a phantom olive branch used as a cover while homes were razed, walls built, crops destroyed, people displaced and land stolen - that much should be obvious to all. Greater Israel is the objective and the project rolls on - with greater speed than ever.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

If you place the word Israel and a negative comment in the same sentence, then you are essentially antisemitic according to the Israeli definition, and sadly too within the UK. So please, be careful.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

That is the islamist narrative.

Another person who could benefit from reading up a bit.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

A Russian Jew who lived in Israel and now Japan probably isn’t a neutral.

To be fair, I really don't care what a person's ethnicity etc is. It's the views which are often repellent and intransigent. The doubling down and refusing to compromise or even acknowledge the wrongs done to Palestinians.

Until a fair, 2 state solution can be agreed upon, I fear this argument will go on and on :-(

0 ( +1 / -1 )

There are plenty of Arabs living in Israel but where are the Jews living in Palestine-bit of a disconnect!

You might want to check some history before posting simplistic history distortions like this. In particular you forgot to mentioin the wars of extinction waged by neighbouring Arab natioins against Israels founding.... the current borders, including the occupied West Bank, are a result of this. I.e. when Jordan annnexed the West Bank in in 1948, it was obviously not part of Jordan.

The current messy geographic situation is a result of complicated history and not of a simplistic story with one villain surrounded by innocent angels.

riperezehotmail:

So can you tell us when Israel last "bombed" the West Bank? Would be nice to have some reference for such a big claim.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Illegal buildings built with no permits and hosting terrorists are all should be destroyed to dust, the sooner the better. Israel should stop pondering to idiots with no understanding of situation and do what it considers best to secure its land. in fact, those decisions shouldnt even reach court, you can easily determine legality by paper trail and it should be demolished immediately.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Fact is, the islamic world does not accept the right of Israel to exist, and until that changes, the conflict will continue.

And Israel will never, ever again allow anyone to displace them or destroy them and until the Palestinians learn this, the conflict will sadly continue.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

dear Zichi, none of the arabs currently claming ownerships lived on this land even 200 hundred years.none, zero ,zilch... jews on other hand do have ownership papers dating way before including archaeological evidence. Even Romans have more claim to land than the arabs.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

The Palestinians do use the aid to build schools

No, they do not.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/belgium-ends-funding-for-palestinian-schools-over-honoring-of-terrorist/

but the Israelis keep bombing them or bulldozing them to still the land.

I would as well if I found them using the facility to conceal their bomb making.

This is why Trump's  son-in-laws plan of just offering the Palestinians economic development will not work. Any new infrastructure will be bombed by Israel with arms and money supplied by the US.

It depends.

I'm finding some commentators are too bigoted to reason with.

I feel the same.

Yes, but that’s not the issue here.

America has not given aid

I meant, historically.

Trump became president but continues to give Israel $3 billion every year.

Great.

Toasted heretic:

They did live side by side with the Israelis when it was Palestine. As I mentioned earlier. Until the Nakba.

That is the islamist narrative. If you check the facts, you find there never was a state called "Palestine". The area was under Ottoman and later British rule, and then Jordan annexed the West Bank. To call the arabization and persecution of resident Jews under Jordanian rule "living side by side" is a quite a bit of a euphemism.

-13 ( +1 / -14 )

Glad you agree,

I said specially

-14 ( +2 / -16 )

You can. It’s called stealing.

Depends on the person you are telling that to.

-14 ( +1 / -15 )

No matter what Israel does, the "Palestinians" aka muslim Arabs will always complain. Fact is, the islamic world does not accept the right of Israel to exist, and until that changes, the conflict will continue.

The corporate media always ever show us the latest conflagration, but never explain the background.

-14 ( +1 / -15 )
