Foul. BDS Israel until it stops terrorizing the Palestinians.

How convenient for satanyahoo that he couldn't form a govt last week and is going to jail for corruption. The coincidence of this violence which seems to occur everytime satanyahoo can't form a govt is startling!

Meanwhile innocent people get killed!

The Israeli bombs you, and he cries out in pain.

Israel needs to crush Hamas completely.

Hamas spends all of the money they get on missiles and tunnels and terrorism.

They have been running Gaza. Maybe they should focus on helping their people rather than on exterminating Jews.

-6 ( +16 / -22 )

Benjamin Netanyahu started this crap and he's not getting world sympathy this time. And he hasn't even given an excuse for this stupid war. The blood of innocent Palestinian (and Israeli) civilians is on his hands, and he doesn't care at all. He thinks he's looking assertive and macho but this time the mud is his face. Shame!

7 ( +16 / -9 )

The killing and destruction will end only when the root of the problem is addressed: a colonialist regime that continually dispossesses the Palestinians.

8 ( +16 / -8 )

I think it is the Zionists who are exterminating the Palestinians...300vs 10??

Israeli war crimes will be judged and you will be found guilty.

6 ( +15 / -9 )

Demonstrably false. Hamas provide social services to the people of Gaza, which is why it was put into power in a free and fair election.

Does Hamas commit acts of terrorism? Yes, it does. So does Israel, the US, et al.

5 ( +16 / -11 )

As a first step, we need to stop focusing on “rounds”, “escalations”, and “extremist acts”, and start recognizing the ongoing routine of the oppression and dehumanization of the Palestinian people – the systematic uprooting and dispossession of Palestinians, every day over the past century.

8 ( +14 / -6 )

This round of fighting will end when either Hamas stops firing rockets or Israel thinks it has killed all the Hamas folks that it can, Doesn't matter who you think is right or wrong, Hamas is not going to win and there is no ceasefire agreement available to them; either give up or die are the only 2 options.

Or, I guess Biden could do something but there is little chance of that.

-4 ( +6 / -10 )

Netenyahu’s got every reason to want to distract people from domestic affairs, political and legal.

It’s a shame that innocent people have to suffer as a result.

6 ( +12 / -6 )

The only way Israel will change is if it's made to pay a price for its criminal behavior.

First, enforce the Leahy Law which forbids America supplying weapons to foreign armies that commit human rights abuses.

Second, withdraw America's automatic veto that protects Israel on the UN Security Council.

Third, throw America's support behind the International Criminal Court's ongoing investigation of Israeli war crimes.

Fourth, ban all goods from illegal Israeli settlements.

It's utter hypocrisy for the Biden administration to criticize China's treatment of the Uighurs and then turn a blind eye to a country that practices apartheid and routinely commits war crimes. Human rights apply to all humans not just the victims of America's enemies.

5 ( +14 / -9 )

Or, I guess Biden could do something but there is little chance of that.

What would you have Biden do that he’s not already doing? He’s sent an envoy and signaled the US is standing by, ready to help if both parties want a ceasefire.

Yeah, the Germans were the real victims of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, because the Jewish 'terrorists' fought back and hid in tunnels. Got it.

-9 ( +4 / -13 )

@Proxy: Thanks for the answer.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

Sounds like people here missed the $735 million arms deal the U.S. approved with Israel yesterday. I know, I know, you wanted all of those weapons to go straight to the innocent angels Hamas but they are still a "terrorist organization" under Joe Biden whether you want to admit it or not.

3 ( +9 / -6 )

The US is the enabler of these atrocities.

"US Secretary of State Tony Blinken has said that the Biden administration is working “behind the scenes” to end the violence in Israel and Palestine. Yet the administration intends to sell Israel $735 million worth of bombs."

1 ( +9 / -8 )

@P.Smith

Stop vetoing the actions of the Security Council. Tough UN sanctions on Israel would stop this.

It is political suicide because the Israel/Jewish lobby has a stranglehold over the US political system.

Benjamin Netanyahu started this crap

No, he did not. He didn’t just wake up in the morning looked at his planner and decided to bomb the Palestinians just for the sake of boredom, where are you getting this stuff from?

and he's not getting world sympathy this time.

The last thing he absolutely cares about is sympathy from the world. His only concern is the safety of his people. Hamas made a stupid choice to fire rockets into Israel, the moment that happened, you knew what was going to happen next.

And he hasn't even given an excuse for this stupid war.

He doesn’t need an excuse, his goal is to wipe out any and all possible Hamas leadership terrorists, I don’t see a problem in that

The blood of innocent Palestinian (and Israeli) civilians is on hishands, and he doesn't care at all.

No, they are absolutely trying their best to avoid any unnecessary casualties, Hamas on the other hand always launches attacks in close proximities where women and children are, be it a school playground, apartments because they know when innocent people get hit, it draws emotional sympathy, outrage and condemnation. Sadly, that’s on them.

He thinks he's looking assertive and macho but this time the mud is his face. Shame!

I disagree, I think hes doing what any good leader does for their country and that’s protecting their citizens, can’t fault the guy for that. He’s definitely putting his country and his people first and if people think it’s a bad thing, then that’s a good thing.

-13 ( +8 / -21 )

After four general elections, Netanyahu has not been able to form a new government. He isn't supported by a majority of the voters. The Israeli president has handed the PM torch over to his opposition leader to try and form a government. He is also in court over fraud cases. The current situation helps Netanyahu.

The only way forward to peace is by addressing all the issues experienced by the Palestinians and form a two-state solution. Netanyahu is no longer interested in that deciding Israel is only for the Jewish people.

It's an apartheid. Let Israel exist and own what is theirs and give back to the Palestinians what is their own.

He’s definitely putting his country and his people first and if people think it’s a bad thing, then that’s a good thing

Netanyahu has been convicted of a crime by the Knesset last year. He's a crook, why would he care about his own people. This war is just his way to save face and look good but he's got blood from both sides on his hands and he don't care.

Nuttyyahoo woke up and realised he was not going to be able to form a Govt and was going to prison for corruption. He then called his police chief (likud member)in Jerusalem and had him start illegally evicting palestinians from their homes and closed off access to worship areas for muslims in one of the largest festivals of their yearly calender abd allowed the rightwing settler crazies to march through the remaining palestinian enclaves taunting them.... No of course he didn't start this...NOT

Like I said, nothing like a good ol' war to distract the nation. Rah rah rally around the flag and all that bullcrap. Well this time around the bullcrap has fit the fan and it's blown back onto his face, making him look like a big disgrace. He needs to be put back into his place!

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Netanyahu has been convicted of a crime by the Knesset last year. He's a crook,

That has nothing to do with his leadership and acting on protecting the nation. We know the liberal factions that have been trying to take him down for years already. Don’t conflate the two.

why would he care about his own people.

Ok, so he should allow Hamas to destroy Israel? What? If he allowed the dismantle of their wall and said, anyone can come in, then you can make that argument that he doesn’t care.

*This war is just his way to save face and look good but he's got blood from both sides on his hands *and he don't care.

No, it’s about cutting off the head of the snake and flood on him for taking out the Hamas leadership and I hope he continues to cut out this cancer.

-10 ( +6 / -16 )

Its a pity that terrorists like the Hamas, an organization which punishes homosexuality by death, calls for killing of all Jews , executes political opponents is the representative of the Palestinian people.

Sure it is elected by the Palestinians fed up with the corruption of Fatah, but a bloodthirsty killer organization and is just that.

Shame on all those who support such medieval minded savages!!!

No it’s the medieval minded savages using civilian populated areas to launch rockets at other civilians!!!

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

So here we are , 30 plus comments in, and nobody has addressed the actual point/headline of the article, which is Hamas digging tunnels to Israel. And the other point, that Hamas has fifteen THOUSAND rockets ready to use against Israeli civilians. Neither of these can in any way be seen as "defensive measures". They are clearly designed to murder and destroy. The IDF has a moral obligation to eliminate both as soon as possible. The fact that they are trying to do so while at the same time minimizing civilian losses is a testament to their moral strength and the justice of their cause.

I feel for the innocent people trapped in Gaza. They should perhaps escape into Egypt, after all Egypt and Gaza share a border. From there, the Sinai is a huge and empty place. THey could easily set up homes there and go about their lives.

Sanjino, Palestinian civilians die because of Hamas. Hamas uses them as meat shields, then uses their inevitable and tragic deaths as media talking points. Hamas loves civilian casualties amongst the Palestinian populace.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

The Israeli regime is extremely skilled at coming up with a lie to cover a Crime.

Trump was and is a pale imitation of Netanyahu, they're both targeting the same people, but despite being altright, somehow Netanyahu, unlike Trump, convinces the 'deplorables' on the left to support him too. Which means that while Trump can only cow Republicans into pretending January 6th wasn't started by the racist right but instead invert reality, Netanyahu can cow Republicans AND Democrats to do the same by pretending that this didn't start with Israeli militants shooting first on May 6.

HAMAS commits terrorism acts AGAINST OCCUPATION a fundamental right! Without it we may still have half the world under occupation..

8 ( +9 / -1 )

I am curious on how the voting on the UNSC statement on Hamas terror attacks on Israeli civilians went...

And of course America has Israel's back. That tiny nation is the only thing even remotely resembling a diverse, equitable democracy in the region. Imagine living in a country the size of Shikoku, surrounded by radical theocracies whose sworn mission is to exterminate your population. Imagine that next door is a failed kleptocracy, which actually PAYS MONEY to families of suicide bombers that attacked your civilan population. You would be a bit paranoid too, I imagine.

Totally. Biden should be mouthing off on social media instead.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Nice to see how everyone has something to say...was nicer to see you guys also condemn the barbaric acts of Hamas and Jihad over the past 20 years.

Have you ever lived in Israel? Or visited there? Have your children and families ever had to run to the shelter within 15 seconds or their lives will be in danger? And I'm talking about a daily act. Randomly during the day and/or night!

If you and your families were under constant attacks, you would do the same.

Let IDF do its work and bring security back to Israel and its people - Jewish and Muslims.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

One side of it, yes.

Don’t you accept the result of the election Zichi referenced?

Was the election fraudulent? Was Hugo Chavez involved?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Yes, Biden should be "mouthing off". but he isnt.

Because he is scared of the progressive wing of his own party. So instead, this crisis continues and people die by his "quiet" diplomacy and lack of choosing a side.

Selling weapons to one side, giving aid to the other.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

If you and your families were under constant attacks, you would do the same.

Over 90% of the rockets fired by Hamas are stopped by Isreal's iron dome. A technology that palestinians don't have, which explains why their numbers of deaths vastly outnumbers those of their isreali opponents.

If you and your families were under constant attacks, you would do the same.

By "attacks", do you also mean "being forcefully evicted from the home your family has been living in for several decades for absolutely no reason"?

I'm reluctant to take sides on this conflict, but painting Israel as a simple victim is criminally simplistic.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

so if you have a bullet proof vest, I can just shoot you in it? it will stop the bullet 90% of the time.

How about Hamas stop firing rockets in the first place? problem solved.

Biden wont call them out Hamas and tell them to stop, he just keeps repeating that Israel has a right to defend themselves. How about make it where they dont HAVE TO defend themselves?

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Hamas’ top leader, Ismail Haniyeh, who is based abroad,.....

A true leader of his people.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

What a lot of people don't understand is the fundamental reasoning behind Israel's brutal actions: their completely mistaken belief that they are God's chosen people and that they have a divine right to 'Eretz Israel'. that is the whole geographical area encompassing all of what was formerly known as Palestine. They will never rest until they grab the whole area and drive the Palestinians completely out. That is their end game goal.

1917: The Balfour Declaration (by the occupying British) gave them the right to return to the area after 2000 years of exile

1948: The UN partitioned the land to divide it between the Arabs and the Jews

1967: Israel grabbed a greater portion of the land

1967 onwards: Israel has been grabbing land ever since

All against the will of the Palestinians.

Now a question for defenders of Israel's actions: How would you like it if all of the above was done by a foreign power to YOUR country and they drove you out or into refugee homes? Of if someone came to YOUR home and drove you out claiming the land because their ancestors lived there 2000 years ago?

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Why does every one commenting here take a partial stance or pick a side??? What do you personally gain? What's at stake for YOU? You think is a battle of good versus evil with a clear good side and evil side? don' answer, I know some clearly think so. What I what to get at is, there are humans on both sides of the conflict and it is a long one. Break the conflict to its simplest core, and it is: Israel wants to exist where the UN and treaties granted it land, the Palestinians don't want them there and would prefer to have the Jews eradicated rather than coexist.

Israel has no ill will towards any Arab state to start any aggression other that retaliate received aggressions. The other side on the contrary is hell bent on ridding the world of the Jews. You tell me which side is evil.

Now as I said above there are humans on either side, real humans being hurdled around and shepherded around as human shields and material for propagandistic causes.

Hamas amassing 15 rockets with a purely aggression objective should be enough to know where the impasse lies in this conflict. Arab world will never tolerate a Jew State. Period. No matter how much Jews want to coexist.

What do you suggest other that sharing your vitriol??

Want to exterminate the Jews as well. Very humane of you. Want to save the good Palestinians the suffering?? Get the world rid of Hamas and Hezbollah and let peaceful Arabs be peaceful Arabs!!

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

** Correction. 15 rockets = 15,000 rockets

1 ( +2 / -1 )

1 ( +1 / -0 )

So what you're saying is that you think that Israel never ever started taking and occupying land that wasn't in the treaties the UN granted it? Well... I suggest you open a history book then.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

@Chikatilo

Israel has no ill will towards any Arab state to start any aggression....

Then why did they start forcefully moving into the land and push the Palestinians out starting in 1917? Why did the violently grab even more land in 1967? Why do they still forcefully evict Palestinians from their homes, even bulldozing the homes and grab more land by the day to build settlements?
