This is a common strategy for forces that are far outnumbered and out-equipped by the opposing force. That doesn’t make it morally correct, though.

There is no justification in hiding behind civilian population..none.. Israel as such has the moral high ground.

@zichi

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. I was being (attempting to be) very sarcastic... : )

They can rise up, but the more violence they engage and partake in, the less chances of a two state solution will ever come to fruition. The ball is in their court.

If a people has their land taken, and are left in appalling poverty and treated as subhuman by the land grabbers, do you really expect them to just accept the situation?

It is the land of the Palestinian people.

You can’t have something that was never yours to begin with.

In any discussion or debate on any topic, you’d be hard pressed to come up with a more morally bankrupt line of reasoning than this.

There are moral people on the right who wince at this. There are Israelis who wince at this.

Everyone should wince at this.

And maybe Israeli and US aggressors could start by recognizing that Palestine was the homeland for Muslim, Jewish and Christian Palestinians.

The original homeland of the Israelites, but their land shares the historical connection to the other two.

You know, instead of taking their land and trying to erase their culture and rights.

Well, the Arabs won’t take anything away, won’t happen.

Hardly suprising the Palestinian people are rising.

Two state solution, now.

Hamas was elected in a fair election and protect what little freedoms the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have,

So far they have done a horrible job. They have done absolutely nothing positive for the people in Gaza.

which is to say Israel should stop committing atrocities against the Palestinians in order to uphold freedom and democracy.

Well, then maybe the Palestinians could start by recognizing and acknowledging Israel as the land of the Jewish people and take it from there, denounce all terrorist acts going forward and then maybe they can restart the talks and bring both sides together to figure out the two state solution, then and only then can that take place, but as long as the Palestinians our vent on attacking these release and using violence, then it will be equally met with violence, they Palestinians can’t win this. Again, the best advice would be to hold new elections in to find a suitable leader that will try to bring the two sides together and not use given aid to purchase weapons from the Iranians.

Not counting the nine children killed by the IDF yesterday, Israel has killed 2,113 Palestinian children in the last twenty years.

These Hamas freedom fighters, militants or whatever are always hiding in the civilian population.. the MO is very simple, fire the rockets from the civilian population, and let the Israeli counter strike do the obvious and than blame Israel for the massive civilian deaths... and in this they have been very successful.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

Israel should do whatever it takes to stop and uphold freedom and democracy in the region and this outrageous aggression towards the Israelis is unacceptable and as long as the Palestinians oppose any lasting peace process, there will never be any peace. Israel has the absolute right to use justifiable force in order to stop the Hamas/Iranian backed attacks on the Jewish nation.

Someone thinks that the victims of the Israeli regime's brutal oppression 'get their rockets from Iran' despite the fact that the Israeli regime has all of Gaza under a total siege.

As if that wasn't ridiculous enough, that if they were firing Iranian rockets, that they would be hitting the Israeli regime forces in the area the refugees were cleansed from by the Israeli regime rather than the volunteer human shields the Israeli regime asked to move in to the depopulated area also seems to be a reality he ignores.

The US created this problem like many others around the world.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

By the way, where is UN?

are they drafting a press release for Peace???

Shame Shame and Shame on shameless UN activity.

Unless peaceful two state, how UN expect Peace???

@zichi

yes you are correct.

The Arab countries are looking for handshake money & business relation from Israel.

No. of deaths will bring no. of bonus for those Arab countries.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

The world does not like to witness the on-going fiery conflict in Israel and Gaza that could explode to a bigger war between Israel and its neighboring Arab countries.

No nation in its right mind could afford to ignite any war without suffering undesirable consequences itself..

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Where does Hamas get their rockets? Iran.

Israel is showing massive restraint.

I don't wish for Palestinians to be harmed, but I do wish they'd come to the peace table to negotiate with words, not violence.

I with Israel didn't take any more land and encouraged a peaceful 2-state solution with Palestinian neighbors. It isn't like those people will be leaving. 1,000 years from now, there will be Israelis and Palestinians living next to each other. How they both behave today matters.

German-born Jews who escaped to America have aided the world in huge ways. In WW2, they were deployed as native German speakers up on the slang and culture to get German soldiers to provide intelligence in the fight against Hitler. I'm grateful for them and their efforts. A few were shot by American soldiers on camp patrol even when they said the correct password due to their thick German accents.

For why Israel wants a buffer from their neighbors, just look up the 6-day war. Netanyahu lived that and all Jews have a "never again" attitude after having 6M+ of their culture/religion wiped out. Never again.

Israel is showing massive restraint.

And yet the US government (especially the State Dept.) is full of Israeli-America "dual-citizens" and attempts to posture as an honest and independent peace broker in the region.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

The Palestinians paid for Europeans allowing the rise of Hitler. Justice would have been European countries coughing up land for a Jewish state.

It's extremely naive to imagine that they would have been satisfied with any other piece of land. The ultimate aim of Zionism has always been to evict the Palestinians, demolish the Al-Aqsa mosque, and rebuild a third temple. That's why the borders keep expanding towards Jerusalem year after year. They've been working towards this goal long before Hitler was ever on the scene.

@Mark

It is the Palestinians LEGAL RIGHT to defend themselves, as Israel continues to Occupy their land and STEAL their homes and properties.

Aren't we all tired of hearing this World's super power beating the hell out of a defenceless people while screaming at the top of their lungs about " self defence ". ?

Palestine has been an ongoing land grab and Jerusalem is the icing on the cake. All this executed under the watch of the US.

12 ( +14 / -2 )

This violence benefits no one.

As a land owner I get sick and tired of seeing Palestinians being forced off their land and their homes, often family land passed down for generations, taken from them so adherents of the state approved religion can build their homes on their land. . If a government took my home by force to give to someone else because I was the wrong religion I would certainly take up arms and fight or at the very least aid those who were fighting. But if it involves an Arab in Palestine they are labeled "terrorists" and condemned while those stealing the land are cheered as somehow heros. Pardon me if I hate seeing my tax dollars going to the nation stealing the land and abusing the rightful owners of that

Boycott, divest from, and sanction Israel

Saying that in the US today can almost get you prosecuted for "hate speech". It's enough to get you booted from some major universities (students or faculty both) or get you fired from all kinds of jobs.

14 ( +14 / -0 )

Boycott, divest from, and sanction Israel until it stops abusing the human rights of the Palestinians through collective punishment and land grabs.

You really think it's possible, given the US support of Israel?

12 ( +13 / -1 )

When the ICC rules on the events, will it be enough to get AP to drop the big lie about 'Palestinian aggression/Israeli response' or will it go the OANN route and continue the big lie even after all reasonable doubt that it is a lie has vanished?

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Not counting the nine children killed by the IDF yesterday, Israel has killed 2,113 Palestinian children in the last twenty years.

By contrast, the Palestinians have killed 137 Israeli children in the same period.

All child killers are monsters, but some child killers are bigger monsters than others.
