Israel has to be one of the most racist countries out there!

And as for the ‘historic nation state of Israel’?

Well, for anyone not able to read a history book then it might be believable.....

Wise move by Israel---what good have the Arabs ever done for Israel?

-30 ( +1 / -31 )

Israel was one of the few nations that supported White rule in South Africa. It already has walled ghettos constricting the movements of people who's land/ houses are confiscated. Now it's just levelling up by removing the legal acknowledgement of the people who were there originally. Next Arab Isreal people might have to wear some sort of token on their clothing. Not such a big step as obviously legally they no longer are welcome in the lands they have lived in for centuries rather than arrive for elsewhere.

Well, they did keep the land fertile so it could be productive after it was stolen by Israel.

I learned at a Japanese school that Jews and Arabs have the same racial origin. They are brothers - Semitic and Hamitic. I had a Jewish friend before.  One time, I looked at his face carefully and I found he had a high hooked nose and dark curled hair. If he did not wear a jewish cap and if he put on Arabian clothes I would have thought he was an Arab.

Not good!

It will take generations of forced integration to solve this just inside Israel. Integration needs to begin in pre-school, housing, all levels of society, govt, and the private sector. The courts in Israel need to force this if they ever want peace.

After they gain peace internally, which will take at least 50 yrs, then they can attempt to work on true peace with all their Arab neighbors, who have a stated goal of destroying all Jews. As long as your neighbors are outwardly hostile, it makes sense to protect yourself. How much aggression should Israel show? IDK, but I can understand their desire to be the attacker BEFORE the attackee.

The world's last apartheit state. It's very sad to see, particularly for the vast majority of Jews who are firmly against Trump and Netanyahu. American Jews, who overwhelmingly oppose Trump, have to stand up against the far-right in both countries who support Israel's descent into South Africa 2.0.

So far Trump's embrace of the merchants of hate has seen verbal attacks on Muslims, blacks, Hispanics, the disabled and so on. American Jews must know that they are on sticky ground given Trump's support for Evangelical Christianity and it's extremists.

So far Trump's embrace of the merchants of hate has seen verbal attacks on Muslims, blacks, Hispanics, the disabled and so on.

So far, the Social Justice Warriors of the world and their one sided emotional reactions will blame Trump for everything while giving "their side" a get out of jail free card, so to speak.

"The Christianophobia Observatory, a Paris-based Roman Catholic non-profit organization that tracks attacks against Christians, reported 128 incidents of church vandalism or other anti-Christian attacks in France during the first five months of 2018."

June 3. The managers of a Carrefour hypermarket in Chambourcy complied with Muslim demands to remove Israeli dates from the store's "Ramadan department." Customers complained that the presence of Israeli products at the store was "an affront to Muslim customers."

The new legislation speaks of Israel as the historic homeland of the Jews and says they have a "unique" right to self-determination there.

I wonder how far they would get with their self-determination without US financial support?

A brave stand for Mr Bahloul to take. Netanyahu seems determined to expand and wipe out Arabic culture. Which is tragically ironic, given that Arabic was widely spoken and the culture shared in Palestine before Herzl's not-so-great ideology took hold.

That's Arabic Muslims, Arabic Christians and Arabic Jews for those who wonder what use the Arabs are.

So far, the Social Justice Warriors of the world and their one sided emotional reactions will blame Trump for everything while giving "their side" a get out of jail free card, so to speak.

Comedy gold.

"In the nearly 20 months since the 2016 elections, two competing images of Trump have emerged in the Jewish world. One, shared by an overwhelming majority of Israeli Jews, is of no less than a national savior."

"In contrast, the perception most American Jews have of their president is quite the opposite. Only 34 percent hold a positive view of the way he has dealt with U.S.-Israel relations. And as low as this figure may sound, it is better than Trump’s general approval rating among American Jews. A whopping 71 percent of those surveyed have an unfavorable opinion of Trump. Only 26 percent see Trump favorably, and a mere 19 percent said they had voted for him in 2016. For this majority, the exaltation of Trump by Israeli Jews is inexplicable or even outright offensive."

https://www.momentmag.com/why-do-israeli-and-american-jews-see-trump-so-differently/

So, the 81% of American Jews who voted against Trump are social justice warriors now, are they? Crazy. Look, we all know that anyone who isn't an extreme right-wing, white American Christian evangelist is regarded as an enemy by "your side". Calling anyone who dares to hold a different opinion a social justice warrior is laughable and only makes you look even more deluded and extreme. American Jews are clearly correct in being concerned about Trump.

And you should stop cutting and pasting from the Gatestone Institute. Everyone knows it's an anti-Muslim hate site sponsored by ultra Zionist Nina Rosenwald, the so-called Sugar Mama of ant-Muslim hate:

I always think Israel state is like an island where all around there, are the Arab culture, tradition and the religion, at the same time I recognize Israel can be a resort oasis to Arab people have a good moments there, I can see Israel one of the most advanced nation in many industrial fields, from high-tech to bio-nature resources to confront the desert heat and drought. However, the Zionist policy of many years there made the citizen in jeopardized situation. Zouheir Bahloul is doing the right thing to that government avoid peril actions with Arabs, to endanger it's own people and land.

In their hatred and acts of violence towards Israel the Moslem Arabs have never abandoned their adherance to the ideals and policies of Haj. Amin el-Husseini who led them, in league with Germany and Italy in WW2. with the combined aim of the obliteration of the Jews. Both Germany and Italy have recanted and repented . But not the Moslem Arabs--hence the ongoing intractable problems.

@Seadog538

Many who support Israel like to point out that Israel is the only well-functioning democracy in this part of the world while the Muslim-majority countries are theocracies, dictatorships or failed states.

Don’t you think it’s a disgrace that the only well-functioning democracy can pass a bill which is clearly aimed at reducing the status of a minority people who live in that democracy?

A disgrace to the ideals of democracy. The theocrats in this part of the world behave like this.

One of my neighbour is an arabic Christian whose family has been ripped off lands without warning nor compensation.

It is a matter of religion first then race in fact. Everyone knows what an ideology can lead to when outside respect of race and/or religion.

Although seemingly "civilized", Israël is not the open oasis to all persecuted people it once was. It will judge you depending on your religion and/or race.

For instance, easy to see that black people are not welcomed...

Not good move to promote for world peace.

Considering the history of the Holocaust, for which the Jewish community will never ever let us forget (and quite rightly so), it is disgraceful that modern day Israel is making decisions very similar to those of Adolf Hitler. The fact that we are not allowed to forget the Holocaust makes this even more disgraceful.

Most races in the world today have faced atrocities in our history yet we all seem to forgive and forget. The Germans almost invaded Britain and bombed its cities to pieces before 1945. The British Empire raped and pillaged India and other colonies. The same of the French colonies in North Africa and Vietnam etc, etc.

Why is it that Israel is allowed to continue this race hatred.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Next Arab Isreal people might have to wear some sort of token on their clothing.

I wouldn't be surprised as they copied quite a few practices from the Third Reich.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

On topic, the Jewish community like to, how can I say, take advantage of what happened in world history and freely use the word 'antisemitic' towards anyone who doesn't fit in with their point of view. In UK politics the Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has been subjected to a vicious hate campaign by Jewish activists, claiming that he is antisemitic. To be honest all he did wrong was to support Palestinian rights. And now they won't let it go. I have even dropped a couple of old friends on facebook because their anti-muslim posts are downright racist.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Quitting won't accomplish anything. Bahloul can accomplish more by keeping his Knesset seat and fighting the law all the way to Israel's Supreme Court. (Which, I would add, has in previous decisions struck down discriminatory cases involving housing and others.)

3 ( +3 / -0 )

On topic, the Jewish community like to, how can I say, take advantage of what happened in world history and freely use the word 'antisemitic' towards anyone who doesn't fit in with their point of view.

A bit more nuanced than that. There are many Jews who are against what Israel are doing to the Palestinians. Even in Israel itself, where the refuseniks are often causing quite a stir in regards to serving for the IDF.

And yes, there are many who see any criticism of Israeli policies as anti-semitic. In fact, as many Christians follow that line of thought as well.

In UK politics the Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has been subjected to a vicious hate campaign by Jewish activists, claiming that he is antisemitic. To be honest all he did wrong was to support Palestinian rights.

Yes and no. He has been targetted by the Blairite faction and pro-Israeli politicians (within Labour and without). He has also been targetted by sections of the British press. Some of these groupings are Jewish and some are Christian.

JC is a supporter of Palestinian rights. As are many Jews and other religions. But his mistake was not to have distanced himself from the mural he defended 6 years ago, the one painted by Mear One which is clearly dodgy. The mural depicts Jewish caricatures and that conspiracy theory of the New World Order. It's the type of garbage that crops up quite regular online. Corbyn should have looked at it a wee bit closer.

That said, I don't believe he's an anti-semite. And his support for Palestine and indeed, a 32 county Ireland, should not be tarnished.

The Jewish "community" is wide and varied. Like the Muslim "community" it is not an homogenous single-minded entity. A Jew in Hackney is not necessarily going to have the exact same thoughts and political beliefs as a Jew in Ethiopia or Iran or Israel.

To believe that all Jews are ultra-zionists who want to destroy Palestinians, is not much different in believing all Palestinians are fanatics like who want to destroy Israel.

One thing is for sure, the likes of Netanyahu are an impediment to a two state solution.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

The new legislation speaks of Israel as the historic homeland of the Jews and says they have a "unique" right to self-determination there.

Nothing new here. That has been going on since the English came there to create a dumpster colony, to send Jews there, like they'd send convicts to Australia, etc. That never improved. All the native people became undercastes in their former country.

Bahloul can accomplish more by keeping his Knesset seat and fighting the law all the way to Israel's Supreme Court.

He and other Arab Israeli in politics have really tried hard for decades and they 'accomplished' what ? They only saw many of their rights suppressed, for no rational reason.

Well Arabs or whatever-you-consider-you-are inhabitants of Israelo-Palestine, it's time to give the 'chosen' old beards what they wished for : be Jews. Do like the Jews in Europe from Middle Age till 20th century, do like the Christians in Japan. You should all convert, then get the Jewish passport you are entitled to. There will 2 differences with you and the Kakure/ Marranos . Primo, back in the times, converts were forced to change lifestyle, now it's useless since so many (most ?) current Jews don't eat Kosher, don't follow religious rites and don't speak one word of Hebrew, and many practice other religions without losing Jew status.

That's the second point, converts could easily become the majority in voters of Israel, they could make Arabic (or Swedish or whatever) the dominant life and media language, and they could get majority of seats. Then they could vote what they want, and get rid of the supremacist dictature.

their Arab neighbors, who have a stated goal of destroying all Jews.

Which is bad, hugely problematic, OK. But don't confuse cause and consequence. Daech and co did not make Israel become 'racist', they came much later. The Israeli don't vote against Arabic language use of their citizen because they fear attacks from neighboring countries, do they ?

Why is it that Israel is allowed to continue this race hatred.

The Israelis have a very powerful friend in the West..

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Why is it that Israel is allowed to continue this race hatred.

Because they are surrounded on all sides by nations who want to kill all Jews and have tried to accomplish that multiple times.

There have been 174 rocket or mortar attacks against Israel in July 2018 from Gaza.

Wouldn't you strongly dislike people who try to kill you and your family?

The Jewish people were dispersed throughout the world without a sovereign nation for 2000 years until the Balfour Declaration of 1917. The declaration was made by the occupying British who decreed that the Jewish people could return to the land against the will of the Palestinians who had occupied the land for generations. In other words the Palestinian's land was stolen from them. That was the beginning of this ongoing conflict. How would any of us react to a similar scenario in our own country?

I think it's too late to expect a complete return of the land to the Palestinians. Perhaps the best outcome would be for both sides to agree on a fair and balanced two state solution. However the powers that be in Israel will never accept this and have always actively fought this. They aim to squeeze out as many Palestinians as possible and subjugate the remaining ones under the flag of 'Eretz' Israel', a nation whose borders stretch throughout the same geographical region of the ancient Promised Land of Biblical days. There are also some Palestinians who will not accept a two state solution but strive to return to the pre 1917 situation.

I pray that somehow there will be a miracle peaceful solution agreeable to all.

The Torah, Bible and maybe Quran states that the ancient Hebrews were 'not to abhor Edomites - they are your brothers and not to hate Egyptians'. Basically, DON'T HATE STRANGERS OR FOREIGNERS. There's been so many migrations, integrations, etc. in the millennia since the days of Moses. Persians, Greeks, Romans, Turks, Brits, etc. have ruled there. Israel is a political entity with old Biblical name. Yet when they've occupied Gaza and the West Bank and treated everyone in those areas like trash because of a bunch of Muslim-in-name-only fanatical terror scum, that's a form of apartheid. Where is the Judaism in **that? **We can't return things back to where they were but this is an obscenity of the highest degree. Like it or not, Arabic (and other languages) are commonly spoken in the geographic region and simply dismissing it will solve nothing.

"Should I sit on the fence? Should I give legitimacy to this destructive, racist, extremist parliament?"

No he should not. Zouheir Bahloul is right. Why should he play the part of a 'token Arab' and play these fanny-kissing games? It's obvious that the Israeli parliament generally doesn't like him or his kind, so why pretend? More power to him. This part of the world is a melting pot/mixing bowl and people on both sides need to realize it.

Stop with this mantra as there's no level playing field when it comes to military strength.

The number of casualties due to the Hamas activities is very limited: none.

On which knowledge do you base that all Palestinians and all surrounding nations want to shove the Israelis into the Mediterranean ?

There's no other choice than to get along with each.

NetgrumpToday 01:56 am JST The number of casualties due to the Hamas activities is very limited: none.

I beg to differ. Hamas is a bunch of terror thugs and they have killed quite a large number of people. However, they are not Muslims but murderers. At the same time Israeli forces are picking on everyone and everything Arabian and that's wrong too.

And there's plenty of innocent men, women, children in those regions caught in the crossfire who just want to live their lives and mind their business. They're between a rock and a hard place. Hating and picking on a whole category of people because they're the same type as to individuals who harmed you is not good either. 2 wrongs don't make it right. It cuts both ways, folks. Hate the occupying regime, hate the enemy government, hate the terrorist organization, hate an individual but hating everyone in a certain national, ethnic, religion, language, culture, race is never a good thing. Hamas is a rotten terror-monger organization, destroying and killing in the name of God but not everyone in Gaza is that way. Get the drift?

Lots of the usual lies, by the usual suspects, being posted.

Rather than name them, I'll give you a couple of pointers to where you can learn for yourself, and then decide what are lies yourself.

Look into what Christopher Mayhew did in 1973, and then later.

Look into what the curators of the Apartheid Museum in Soweto decided was 'grand Apartheid'

Look into what the ID of those Jews who were born before the declaration of Israeli statehood, and didn't have to move to be in Israel said about their country of Birth.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Islamism, the desire to impose religious law, is a threat to civilised countries. It’s facistic.

Now can you tell us why it’s acceptable to reduce the status of everyone in a group of people on the basis that some are islamists?

Anyone blaming Trump for starting the problems in Israel doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

That said, he made matters worse when he decided to move the US embassy there, essentially siding with the Jewish Israeli hardliners. And let’s not forget when the GOP sidelined Obama to invite hardliner Netanyahu to speak in front of congress.

Western Europe has not become "subsumed" with "islamists". Unless it happened on a Monday. Always a bit of a blur for me, Mondays.

As for seeing nothing wrong with Israel brutally imposing their culture over the established culture, that's your apocalypse, right there.

Dont worry about "arab culture" - theyre surrounded by it and it wants to kill them.

The Arabic culture pre or post Zionism? Jews were part of the Arabic culture before it all kicked off. 1921 was the flashpoint, the catalyst, if you like for what came after. Ironically, it was the legacy of Zionism that contributed to the dramatic decline of the culture.

Oh there's always been persecution of Jews, nobody would deny that. The Christians were pretty good at it, too.

And of course, Christians were persecuted by Jews and pagans etc.

But of course, none of this justifies the attempted wiping out of a culture by various Israeli administrations and the IDF.

Or, indeed, the demonising of Muslims.

Nice try, though.
