"Settlers" are in fact illegal occupiers. These for-Jews-only "settlements" are built on land that the entire world, the UN, and the International Court of Justice say belongs to the Palestinians. They demolish Palestinian homes and kick out the Palestinian people, who have been living there for several hundreds of years, to make place for Jews from anywhere in the world to move into, at the expense of US tax payers.

Israel and palestine, should also solve their poverty woes too, while trying to establish borders.

It would be ironic if it wasn't so sad. A race who suffered so much at the hands of a land-grabbing army biased on racial division, becomes a land-grabbing army biased on racial division. These people still want sympathy from the rest of the world for what happened during the Holocaust, yet think they can behave like ogres and to hell with the rest of us.

Way to go, Israel. Keep sloshing the petrol onto the fire, and then get all upset when it comes back and burns you. When is the West going to wake up to the fact that the aggression displayed by this twisted regime is responsible for the destabilisation, not merely of the Middle East, but the entire world?

Not a smart move.

Israeli settlers have begun building new homes

These settlements provide thousands of jobs for "Palestinians" who would otherwise be unemployed. These laborers want the settlements to continue.

Due to high unemployment rates in the West Bank, tens of thousands of West Bank Palestinians depend on jobs in the settlements. In 2010 Palestinian leaders announced a ban prohibiting Palestinian laborers from working in Israeli settlements. The ban has triggered anger and uncertainty among West Bank Palestinians who depend on employment in the settlements.

sabi: who have been living there for several hundreds of years

Yeah, sure. This land used to be an empty desert, inhabited by nomads. Mark Twain in 1867 says, "one finds only a squalid camp of fantastic Bedouins of the desert; Palestine is desolate and unlovely." Nobody cared about this land until the Jewish "Infidel" turned it into something, and the socialists created a "cause."

Nothing ironic about it. This is just a demonstration of two of Nietzsche's philosophical concepts: The Will to Power and Slave Morality. A quick summary would be that all groups strive for for power, some of the weaker groups (Nietzsche was thinking of Christians) appeal to sympathy for their persecution so they can overcome the strong. That's what has happened here. And once at the top, they behave like the very monsters they claimed oppressed them. And now the Palestinians can appeal to pity and the cycle continues and someday all of these "settlers" homes will be ash. Cycle of life.

Did you ever wonder why they are unemployed. Could it be because fences and check points prevent farmers from working their land, or because Israel prevents Palestinians from exporting their goods, or because Israel is uprooting the Palestinians' olive trees, or because.... The Palestinians have been prisoners for decades.

Helter Skelter

This land used to be an empty desert, inhabited by nomads.

I see. So the 2 million plus Palestinians who have a right to live in the West Bank and are being squeezed out by zealous land-grabbing by people who moved in after them, should be thankful should they ?

Islam. And there are dozens of other cities all over the world that you can list as well.

That's strange. I don't recall any 'Islamic' terrorism in world history before the Israelis started to create their new state after the War and before the Americans started arming Israel ? Terrorism based on 'Islam' as you put it, is wrong. But so is fanning the flames of terrorism (i.e the Israelis moving Jewish settlers into Palesinian land with total disrespect).

Helter Skelter, let's be honest, the Israelis are a nasty race of people and the rest of the non-Jewish world is fed up with Israel's complete lack of humanity.

Just so, so, so, so glad I don't have to live next door to such 'settlers'.

I'm thinking that the building is happening in Jerusalem, which belongs to Israel and has for more than 50 years now. Palestinians have never governed themselves, and in fact, have proven that they are incapable of doing so.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@djuice

Israeli settlers have begun building new homes at an extraordinary pace since the government lifted its moratorium on West Bank housing starts.

How do you get to Jerusalem from that?

And no, Jerusalem doesn't "belong" to Israel, any more than Taiwan "belongs" to China. Just because a country lays claim to a territory doesn't mean that country owns it.

...the Israelis are a nasty race of people and the rest of the non-Jewish world is fed up with Israel's complete lack of humanity.

Plenty of Jewish people are fed up too, and ashamed to be associated with the place.

On top of the article it says. KARMEI TZUR, West Bank. Jerusalem was built by the Palestinians just as many other towns in Palestine such as Bethlehem. Palestinians lived in Palestine. They were doing just fine until some foreign invader came and took their land away.

Why is it that Americans support Israel so much? I know that they have a very biased media. Why is it that the media in US is even less critical of Israel than even the Israeli media?

Israelis are not a 'race'.

2 million plus Palestinians who have a right to live in the West Bank

says who??

0 ( +0 / -0 )

whoever has possession had the strongest claim to it.

@manfromamerica

says who??

Probably the same person who says that 250 million Americans have the right to live in your country.

whoever has possession had the strongest claim to it.

So if China invades Taiwan tomorrow and the Taiwanese surrender, that's okay by you? After all, China would "have possession".

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Possession is 9/10 of the law, and Israel possesses Jerusalem. ...and the Palestinians still are incapable of governing themselves.

Paragraph 6 of Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention on Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War states, "The occupying power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into territories it occupies.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@neogreen

You're wasting your time quoting the Geneva Convention here. Israel is powerful and rich, the Palestinians are weak and poor. That's all that matters, and Israel is determined to keep things that way.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Israelis are not a 'race'.

How would you describe them ?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

whoever has possession had the strongest claim to it.

Possession is 9/10 of the law,...

manfromamerica and djuice, please let me know where you park your car...

.

neogreen,

There is also something about it being inadmissible to gain land by war; a 1967 UNSC resolution states this very clearly.

Anyway, so-called Israel is going down, they better move back to their pre-1967 border and make a serious peace deal before its too late, before they vanish from the pages of time.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

says who??

75% of the current West Bank population are Arabic and they descend from:- 1. The Arabic Palestinian state of the West Bank which was agreed by the US and the UK in 1920. 2. After the end of World War II and as agreed by the United Nations. 3. After the Arab-Israeli War of 1948.

northlondon: I don't recall any 'Islamic' terrorism in world history before the Israelis started to create their new state

Muslims were murdering Jews and unbelievers long before Israel ever existed. You can start with the Arab riots of the 1920's.

sabi: Did you ever wonder why they are unemployed.

No. There's umemployment and poverty in every Muslim Arab nation. Since "Palestinians" are Muslim Arabs, why would they be any different? In fact, they'd be more impoverished without the work Israel provides for tens of thousands of "Palestinians."

northlondon: Palestinians who have a right to live in the West Bank

But Jews have no right to live there? A million Muslims live in Israel, but no Jews are allowed to live on Muslim Arab land? It's obvious who the racists are here.

northlondon: the rest of the non-Jewish world is fed up with Israel's complete lack of humanity.

There are plenty of people around the world who have not been duped by the "Palestinian" lie. They understand Israel is surrounded by racist and violent neigbors who seek to destroy the "Infidel" state.

Moderator: Readers, please keep the discussion civil and avoid inflammatory words such as "racist."

Helter_Skelter said: Nobody cared about this land until the Jewish "Infidel" turned it into something, and the socialists created a "cause."

All I can conclude from this statement is that you think the people of Palistine miraculously sprang into existence some time after 1948.

Regardless, the majority of an area of land have a right to rule themselves today. Nevermind what happened 50 or 150 years ago.

How would you describe them ?

Citizens of Israel. That hardly is the same as being a race. I would think this would be obvious.

Smash and grab. Sweaty thieves. "Quick, while the going's good!"

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Citizens of Israel. That hardly is the same as being a race. I would think this would be obvious.

Citizens brings to mind good neighbours and law-abiding people. Bulldozing Palestinians into cramped refugee camps whilst you steal their land is not something a 'citizen' would do. A 'citizen' would get on with living and working together with fellow neighbours. It is obvious to me that as this land snatching is being based on religion and ethnic creed (let me spell it out for you, the Jewish Israelis stealing Arabic Palestinian land) so I would describe these thieves as a 'race', not citizens for goodness sake.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Citizens of Israel. That hardly is the same as being a race. I would think this would be obvious.

Yeah, but anyone in the world can immediately become a citizen if their mother is Jewish. I can't think of any country that has anything comparable to this. They will destroy the home of a Palestinian family, whose ancestors have been living there for several centuries, to make place for anyone in the world who is considered Jewish.

Any Jew in the world can immediately become an Israeli citizen and move into these "settlements", subsidized by US tax payers; while a Palestinian whose ancestors have been living there for several centuries, is kick out.

But having said that, I don't think they are a race, but for some reason I, and I alone, do not seem to be allowed to write what I think they are.

talking2U: the people of Palistine miraculously sprang into existence some time after 1948.

Much of the huge growth in population in the West Bank and Gaza has been from Egyptians and Jordainans immigrating to the region to find work in Israel (yet another reason to put quotes around "Palestinians"). How predictably stupid for the Muslim Arabs to want to destroy a country that has provided an economic boon to the region.

The Green Line separating Israel from the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip remained open and relatively unpatrolled from the 1967 war through the 1990s. Tens and eventually hundreds of thousands of Palestinians became migrant workers in Israel.

sabi: anyone in the world can immediately become a citizen if their mother is Jewish

It's a Jewish nation. So what?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

northlondon,

Citizen merely means they are entitled to the rights and priviledges of a legal inhabitant of a country. Israelis are citizens of Israel.

I am no expert, but a quick search indicates that there are Israelis of many races (the real ones which usual are to describe skin color and physical differences, not the incorrect way the word has been suggested here) and religions including, Jews, Christians, Muslims and even Baha'i.

That being said, I do find it interesting that a check of recent discussions on this subject reveals the same tired meaningless rehashing of what the writer considers the 'history' of the region. As someone else wrote, it is meaningless to keep rehashing. All that matters is the situation right now and it pretty much stinks.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

... it is meaningless to keep rehashing. All that matters is the situation right now and it pretty much stinks.

No, what matters is that international law must be respected and people should be able to live free on their land. Its really quite simple, you can't just take something that is not yours and then say "stop rehashing the past". What is also important is for people in other countries (e.g., USA) to understand how their money is used to commit crimes against humanity.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

**you can't just take something that is not yours

The West Bank and Gaza were occupied for 19 years and no-one batted an eyelid.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I have not taken anything, so there is nothing wrong with my offering the opinion that rehashing the past is meaningless. I also have the present situation as an example of why rehashing is useless. These two sides have been rehashing the past for as long as there have been these two sides. What has it gotten? Nothing but a crappy continuing situation. Personally, I am sick of their whining and craving the world's attention. It is about time that both sides grew up.
