The Israeli occupation began long before the formation of Hamas and there are no hostages or rockets being fried from the West Bank but more than 300 Palestinians have been killed and Israel's decades long illegal occupation and annexing of Palestinian land show no signs of stopping. Infact, quite the opposite. Illegal settlements (i.e. Jewish colonies) are expanding at their fastest rate in years.

There is no incentive for the Palestinians to give up any form of resistance because as history demonstrates it means a return to the status quo. Oppresion, apartheird, starvation and illegal landgrabs.
