Medical doctors treat the victims of the NRA's ignorance, hate, and fear-mongering.

Bifurcators, those who can only see poles, just black or white, one or zero, those who can only see Trump = good, anything Trump doesn't like = bad, if you had to choose between doctors or your guns (keeping the choices polar so you can understand), which one would you choose?

Come on ! Who should you listen to ?

Doctors with their medicine degree, internship, and field experience...

Or people on TV telling you that praying is the answer ?

Since when do Americans listen to intelligent and experienced people ?

As long as we have cowards we will always have guns.

Or people getting campaign cash from a 13$ billion industry?

The only people who have no business talking about gun violence are those who profit off of it. NRA, shut the hell up, we're sick of seeing our kids die so you can turn a sweet profit.

Guns are tools with a specific purpose. There are salient characteristics of each gun design that can be used to determine what its intended use is. For instance, one does not go duck hunting with a 9 mm handgun. I am, personally, sick and tired of all the sophistry surrounding short barreled high capacity semi-auto rifles, such as the AK-47, and the AR-15, which are designed for one purpose: killing people in large numbers. There is no reasonable civilian use for such weapons.

The NRA do not even have a parallel lane on the surgeon's highway.

They maybe have a stockade overlooking it, but they are not any officially-designated highway police, just a bunch of aggressive Hell's Angels.

Although some kind of capping legislation is desperately needed, they see absolutely everything as the thin end of some kind of scary wedge.

(I would like to use capitals for shouting as in the NRA tweet in para 3 above, but I cannot stoop so low.)

They are in the wrong profession if they want to cure society's ills," Przebinda said. "If that was their life's calling, they should have pursued a career path in psychology, criminology or the clergy."

Well, if he puts it that way, I'll put it this way: Dr. Przebinda is in the wrong profession if he wants to promote senseless mass slaughter. It that was his life's calling, he should have pursued a career path in the Lord's Resistance Army, Islamic State, or MS-13.

I respect doctors, but as usual they are targeting the wrong thing. Assault weapons are rarely used in suicides, and rarely used in murders. Bare hands and knives each kill more people each year than assault rifles (or any rifles for that matter). They are NOT the problem. Nor are high capacity magazines, or any other cosmetic device.

The vast majority of gun deaths, both accidental/suicide and murder, are committed with handguns. If you can think of a way to keep handguns out of the hands of criminals and mentally unstable people, while at the same time preserving the rights of the vast majority who are responsible firearms owners, I'd love to hear it.

Sure, just cast a spell on all the guns that make them unable to be held by criminals and the mentally ill.

Oh, or sorry, were you talking about reality?

Any ideas Stranger? Yes, I was talking about reality. Hence my reliance on data.

How about doctors stay in their lane and stay away from saving NRA supporters shot by guns (let NRA doctors heal themselves)

Lostrune2: Docs have an oath to save anyone.

No, you were asking for suggestions about how you can eat your cake, and have it too. Reality doesn’t work like that.
