Italians blaming the EU when their own system is a mess. A coalition of extremists will hardly improve their standing.

Dumb remark, if there's one country depending on EU funding it's Italy. Populism is deep rooted in Italy and the corruption is higher than in dozens of development countries. A country where the mob still controls certain regions has still a long way to go. EU tyranny? Draghi tyranny is how the retired of the rich northern countries see it with his ruling to keep the interest figures artificially low to help out the garlic countries. :)

Italy has been in political crisis forever.

The apologists here have short memories. The euro crisis was devasting and is still felt acutely especially by the young people in Italy and other countries, where the youth jobless rate shot up beyond 50 percent, engendering a sense of helplessness.
And now, when the establishment blatantly subverts the will of the people to protect a failed monetary experiment that makes the rich richer and forces the poor into austerity, well, then, expect trouble.
