Ugh, so rude. It's just common sense to turn your ringer off when you're going to an event like this! Good work, Jackman. If I had been him, I probably would have been a lot angrier.
I'm starting to hate going to the theater and seeing people text as well. That irritates me like nothing else. Even if you have the sound off, I can see your annoying screen lightup every time you open it to text your friend about something that could wait for later. I understand wanting to have it for emergencies, but unless it's something urgent, you really don't need to reply every five minutes! It just seems really disrespectful to the people around you, as well as the people performing on stage/the person who made the movie that you paid money to come and watch.

Yes, it's annoying ringing phone in movie theaters, graduations, plays and just about everywhere. This " staged " !!!!

What if it was Bale? I think that would of been hilarious. But good job on Jackman.

What if it was Bale?
Hahaha, he is known for his short fuse, isn't he. Then we'd get another remix with him swearing up a storm.
Actually when you just read the headline for this article, it sounds like Jackman might have done something like that. I was expecting a blowup of some kind! But he handled it very professionally.

I am starting to think the reason i don't like Hugh Jackman is cos he is such a decent bloke......

I really hope the cell phone owner was thrown out on his/her ass.
It takes a metric butt-ton of work to put on a play and it shows a total lack of respect to let your phone ring during a performance. Let alone how it makes the other audience members feel.

What's strange about things like this happening is that the owner fails to realize that it's their phone or it takes them forever to dig their phone out of wherever it was being kept at the time.

That's because the owner hopes that the phone will stop ringing and as long as he's pretended like it's not his phone that's ringing no one aside from the people seated immediately around him will know for ceratin who the jackass is. Of course the phone doesn't stop and it keeps on ringing until he eventually gives up and is forced to take the phone out to silence it and look even more like an ass.

Good job, Jackman.
When I came to Japan seniors often complained about young people with loud ringers going off on the trains, but nowadays it's the opposite -- middle aged businessm people or the elderly with extremely high volume ringers going off, and not answering them. This is increasing in places like movie theaters or live concerts (quiet ones where you can hear the phones ring); places that use to be a kind of last bastion of relative quiet. An above poster is correct -- it's usually because the person in question is embarrassed and doesn't want to pick up in case and clearly signal whom the offender is.

Russian babushkas at theatres do a great job in cell phone use inside. They are so tough and they can make you feel suicidal!

I am sure this guy, who forgot to turn off his cellphone, could not find where to hide, and was trying his best to pretend it was not his, you know, like when you blow a huge fart, and look in disgust at a stranger, and try to pass the blame to others.

Well handled by Jackman. Now a society that puts cell phones in the hands of just about everyone, from toddlers to their great-great grandparents, can expect some problems with that. Most everyone knows that they should silence these little intruders, but it's especially the middle aged and older who don't know how to or just forget. I think all theaters should install equipment to block signals and fund it by adding a few more cents to the tickets.

hope that wasn't jackman's phone!
