Being the middle of the night, I didn't watch it, but from the reports, it was done in a very classy manner. I may not have agreed with some of the decisions that Michael made during his life, but I hope that he is able to rest in peace.

Good, that flash in the pan is over. Who is the next news cycle?

Did the plastic surgeons responsible for mutilating Jackson's face make an appearance?

Damn it I wish I knew what time this was on I would have watched it.

1 billion people watched MJ's public memorial live ,according to CNN. Was very interesting to watch.

Sharpton rode the moment, building to a crescendo. “There wasn’t nothing strange about your daddy,” he said later, addressing Jackson’s three children in the front row. “It was strange what your daddy had to deal with!”

Hmmm...Maybe this guy is on the same stuff that Jacko had.

I reckon the other 5 billion made the right move.

I woke up at 2:00am to watch it on CNN. It was well done. Not a madhouse as many reporters probably hoped it would be. The performances were done in good taste. I thought Usher's was the best. The comment by Michael's daughter, Paris, at the end was moving, made my wife cry. I have to admire the simultaneous translators who worked on this broadcast. They did their best, and The one who was trying so hard to bring across the emotions and words of Maya Angelou's poem read by Queen Latifah gets special kudos. I'm sure this will be rebroadcast by NHK in the near future with subtitles. If not, they will probably have it online for viewing, as it was streamed live. Perhaps a free download on iTunes is in the works. Anyway, RIP Michael Jackson, and thanks for everything.

1 billion, 20% people and 80% of that are pets and furniture.

To most of the people MJ was nothing more than a leper in life. But, not that he has died, they love him....Where was all this love before he died?LOL

How sad, leper in life, king in death....

I expect to start to hear reports of MJ sightings or miracles happening when you pray in front of his picture.

Sad, just wish they were there for him when he needed them.....

Sharpton looked at Jackson’s children and declared: “Your daddy wasn’t strange — what he had to deal with was strange.”

That was well a bit odd to say to kids who are saying good bye to their father. Maybe should have picked something else to say. Because I am pretty sure his kids did not find him strange, they just loved him.

I hope this is over. Put the guy to rest. As for any allegations against him, well, before we start hearing people like Sharton calling MJ critics all sorts of things, people need to remember that he, MJ, did bring a lot of negative attention to himself. I am not ashamed of having the thoughts about him that I had. Sorry, but I do not think sharing a bed with a kid that is not yours as normal. Where were they when he needed them? There were many there, one shouldn't expect everyone to jump through hoops for such allegations that were placed against him, which again, I say were more his fault than anyone else's, if and only if, the allegations against him are ever proven without a doubt wrong.

Paris Jackson: "Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine."

MJ was strange, and though he might have been a pedophile, I think he might not have been a pedophile, he simply loved kids.

RIP.

Paris Jackson said Michael was the best daddy and she loved him so much... You could still be lonely and have a hole in your heart even though you were surrounded by millions of fans. A sweet word to assure your child loves you can make you happier than anything else..

I couldn't be half-arsed to watch it live. Sleeping took more priority. But I did see snippets on the internet and the part where M's daughter spoke on stage was heart-wrenching. I don't know whether it was the right thing to do by thrusting the children on stage, but some people seem to forget that a father was lost.

I sometimes wonder how M would have turned out had he not been physically abused by his b#st#rd of a father or if he had not been thrusted into the limelight at such an early age.

I agree with sarge.

"but he was aquitted! he was innocent! no jury found him guilty!"

yeah, because he paid 20 million dollars. he never saw a jury. sweeping all this under the carpet and 'just remenbering the music' is crap.

I'm with DenDon here.

Junkie, kiddie-fiddler and freak, but because he did a couple of good tunes 20 years ago and died (through his own fault, let's not forget) earlier than most, he's suddenly transformed into a tragic Messiah.

Oh what a circus, Oh what a show...
