Perry on Friday denied he ever did so, calling the assertion an “absolute, shameless, and soulless lie.”

Until the evidence comes out.

So far, Bennie Thompson and Liz Cheney are doing an excellent job. I hope more Republicans can see the light and switch to the side of Truth.

So far, Bennie Thompson and Liz Cheney are doing an excellent job. I hope more Republicans can see the light and switch to the side of Truth.

This is NOT a partisan issue whatsoever. trump committed his crimes and abuses for himself and himself only. He put down many Republican party members, all he thinks about is himself. The GOP needs to realize that he was using them as well. Trump is a traitor, period. He instigated the Capitol insurrection and the thugs were going to hang the GOP VP Pence and Congressmen of both parties. It's not GOP vs. Democratic Party now, it's about bringing a violent fascist traitor to justice.

NO exiting President (either having lost relection or served the full two terms) have ever tried a vile stunt like this. That's why Trump must be punished.

6 ( +15 / -9 )

Members of the House committee investigating the Capitol riot said Sunday they have uncovered enough evidence for the Justice Department to consider an unprecedented criminal indictment against former President Donald Trump for seeking to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Trump should have been prosecuted and jailed decades ago for his business practices and never been able to run for president.

In this case, if Trump is indicted and yet again walks free, he will be even more in command of the base and the Republican party going into 2024.

7 ( +13 / -6 )

I agree with other posters supporting the committee’s findings on the criminal former president, but trying to pin down the slippery Trump for his misdeeds is like trying to grab hold of an eel in a bathtub full of jelly. Even more slippery are the excuses and the evasions and the downright denials in the face of overwhelming evidence of Trump’s fan base, who’ll be along any minute to prove my point.

6 ( +12 / -6 )

*This is NOT a partisan issue whatsoever. trump committed his crimes and abuses for *himself and himself only.

What crimes? This is supposedly not a criminal trial, if that is indeed so, then Trump should be able to have representation and be allowed to bring in his own witnesses, if he is not allowed to have fair legal representation then it is a one-sided partisan hit job.

He put down many Republican party members, all he thinks about is himself.

Which is what the Dems and of course Kinzinger who isn’t running for re-election (because he knows he could never win) and Cheney, who equally is extremely unpopular in her own state and who’s father was a huge architect of the Iraq war, but now the Dems embrace her for her personal hatred of Trump.

The GOP needs to realize that he was using them as well.

Many of us wish Kinzinger and Cheney would realize that they’re being used as well.

Trump is a traitor, period.

Absolutely not, if he were then he would jump the globalism bandwagon and embrace the lobbyists and would have never put the country first and not to mention get support from half of the country more than any other Republican.

He instigated the Capitol insurrection and the thugs were going to hang the GOP VP Pence and Congressmen of both parties. It's not GOP vs. Democratic Party now, it's about bringing a violent fascist traitor to justice.

But how ironic when Trump asked for the National guard after hearing reports of an eminent threat of a possible uprising. Omitted also was the most important part of Trum’s speech where he specifically called for the crowd to disassemble and peacefully go home.

The full quote:

“I know your pain. I know you’re hurt. We had an election that was stolen from us. It was a landslide election and everyone knows it, especially the other side, but you have to go home now,” “We have to have peace. We have to have law and order.”

Trump tweeted, “No violence!” adding: “Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue.”

Why would the Democrats omit that critical portion of his speech and just focus on everything else? If these people were truly honest and trying to seek the truth in a so called criminal case they would include that part, not exclude it. Full context now doesn’t matter anymore. Just one-sided political partisan witch hunting?

*NO exiting President (either having lost relection or served the full two terms) have ever tried a vile stunt like this. That's why Trump must be punished.*

We could say a lot of things this President and his administration have done that were off the charts the main one, not allowing the President to have equal representation. If these people were truly honest we would hear from all sides and we are only hearing from the people on this committee that hate Trump. If they think they can get a conviction they need to be careful because they’re setting themselves up for a slew of constitutional legal challenges….again. They had more than a year and if these people really had enough to convict Trump they would have by now, of course they would have and everyone knows it, they don’t so now they have to go with the theatrics of this case with the hops of persuading the public which they have been failing to do so far. Regardless of the Democrats efforts it will not distract from their failed policies or address the issues that most Americans care about, crime, inflation, rising gas and food prices, those are the things Americans care about, this spectacle with an abysmal 20 million viewers isn’t helping them.

Legal experts have said a Justice Department prosecution of Trump over the riot could set an uneasy precedent in which an administration of one party could more routinely go after the former president of another.

It's irrelevant - if a crime has been committed, particularly one so serious as trying to overthrow an election, they must prosecute. It shouldn't be a consideration.

6 ( +13 / -7 )

Well, they better go ahead and do it this time. Because if they fail to do it like they failed twice to impeach him, then they’ll look more wretched than they already do, in the event that’s actually possible. Either way, I still don’t think I’ll vote for any of them this November.

-5 ( +7 / -12 )

This is supposedly not a criminal trial, if that is indeed so, then Trump should be able to have representation and be allowed to bring in his own witnesses, if he is not allowed to have fair legal representation then it is a one-sided partisan hit job.

Not supposedly. It isn't a trial. There is neither a jury nor a judge.

But how ironic when Trump asked for the National guard after hearing reports of an eminent threat of a possible uprising.

This isn't true. Trump didn't call the national guard. He didn't call anyone. He did nothing.

Omitted also was the most important part of Trum’s speech where he specifically called for the crowd to disassemble and peacefully go home.

Ahh yes, Trump deserves credit for issuing a statement after spending hours watching the events at the capital and not lifting a finger. Right, we really need to give Trump credit for doing the absolute minimum after Pence (not Trump) began to take action.

2 ( +11 / -9 )

Just do it.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Looks like Schiff and his gang finally got their arch-enemy where they want him. And so that’ll be their greatest achievement ever, the magnum opuses of their careers. They won’t be remembered for serving their respective districts well. Their domains encompass some of the most dysfunctional areas of America. They squandered years of opportunities to do good, all over a vendetta stemming from 2016. And these political thugs think they’re gonna get my vote?

-7 ( +6 / -13 )

It was clear from the beginning that enough evidence was already available, what they mean is that there is now enough evidence so they can be behind the indictment from a relatively safe position.

2 ( +10 / -8 )

The most head-scratching aspect of the January 6 investigations is the silence on the part of the investigators themselves and the legal experts and pundits in the media and press, all of whom have been inexplicably but resolutely shtum concerning the former president's ghostly absence from the evidence-gathering. Trump has not even once been asked to come forward and help clear up this crisis with his invaluable testimony given under oath, a course of action that is no brainer to simple folk like me who believe that his appearance as a witness is absolutely essential to getting to the bottom of this constitutional crisis. All the walking on egg shells and weasel-worded explanations indulged in by the craven political establishment and the undignified spectacle of their tip-toeing around the monstrous "elephant in the room" inevitably bring to mind "The Emperor's New Clothes". Even if an indictment is brought against Trump and he is found guilty for his egregiously treasonous attempt to stop the count who can imagine him serving time in prison? For "health reasons" or "old age" he is likely to be given a get-out-of-jail free card and, as for all the other multifarious crimes and misdemeanors...? One cynical take-away from this dizzying tail-chasing pursuit of the truth among the political elite must now be to offer thanks to 45 for exposing the hollowness of justice in an America on bended knee in Potus worship where some are positively more equal than others in order to maintain and preserve the rule of plutocrats.

Not supposedly. It isn't a trial. There is neither a jury nor a judge.

Still, a criminal indictment in this case just uses a different mechanism than a grand jury--which is also not a trial.

Members of the House committee investigating the Capitol riot said Sunday they have uncovered enough evidence for the Justice Department to consider an unprecedented criminal indictment against former President Donald Trump for seeking to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Imagine if these witch hunters had expended the same energy and resources to investigate the validity of the trial in the first place.

Lol This sounds like a job for the DOJ. Not congress.

About time

6 ( +10 / -4 )

The viewership was very low! Haha

The average American has more important things to deal with like inflation, gas prices, crime, border crisis, etc. The media however will try hard to push this dust-up down our throats before the midterms.

-5 ( +8 / -13 )

Whether or not Trump is guilty, time will hopefully tell. But without a doubt Trump did a much better job overall in domestic and especially foreign policy than Biden is doing now.

NOMINATIONToday  09:03 am JST

The average American has more important things to deal with like inflation, gas prices, crime, border crisis, etc. The media however will try hard to push this dust-up down our throats before the midterms.

CNN viewers who can't afford to drive anywhere or are afraid to venture into certain parts of the city will stay home and will eat this up.

-6 ( +7 / -13 )

While it was clear a year ago that Trump and his criminal cabal tried to overrule the will of the people and stage the first coup in our country's history, the Jan 6th committee has and will do a superb job of linking all the evidence together....

With Ivanka testifying last week that she knew the "Big Lie" was just that, what other Trump close associate will also testify to the coup in the coming weeks?

But what is most disappointing is, as we've seen here, the typical weak and silly excuses the Trump supporters offer to try to condone this trampling of our Constitution...

And then there's Fox News, that didn't even have the courage to televise the hearings, showing in one glaring example how prevalent cancel culture is within the far-right...

Can't wait for more "turncoats", more telephone tapes outing the liars, more "fraudulent electors and phony certification lists"...

The American public will clearly see the scale of the coup....except for Fox viewers; their eyes are closed....

2 ( +10 / -8 )

Trump is the eternal shame of the US, living proof that their political system is poisoned and corrupt to its very core.

But without a doubt Trump did a much better job overall in domestic and especially foreign policy than Biden is doing now.

American foreign policy appears to have been entirely taken over by the neo-con ideologues in the State Department and the military-industrial complex. Those neo-cons jumped ship from the GOP as it became Trump's party and signed on with the Democrats. US foreign policy is a complete shambles, an incoherent mess and it's only going to get worse.

-2 ( +10 / -12 )

Agree with you on this one, Alfie. I had you pegged for a right-wing, authoritarian type based on your support of Putin. Why is Putin ok, but Trump is not?

3 ( +6 / -3 )

its very simple.someone wants see Donald Trump out of game for next presidential race round.

someone is very very afraid that he may won.

-5 ( +8 / -13 )

All congressmen and the president swear an oath to defend the constitution. Trump and his cronies tried to overthrow the government in a coup, deciding that they would choose the president instead of the people.

Any American supporting or enabling that is a traitor to their nation, particularly the ones that swore an oath to defend the constitution.

5 ( +14 / -9 )

its very simple.someone wants see Donald Trump out of game for next presidential race round.

someone is very very afraid that he may won.

We know you Putin supporters want the seditionist in power again. Especially since you helped him get in last time.

2 ( +12 / -10 )

And then there's Fox News, that didn't even have the courage to televise the hearings, showing in one glaring example how prevalent cancel culture is within the far-right...

They didn't just not air it, they had Tucker Carlson go for 3 hours without commercials, sacrificing advertising revenue in an attempt to get people to do anything but see the truth...

4 ( +14 / -10 )

Although America is still on the edge of a coup, as the attempt is not over yet, at least it's in the public record now that Trump is a seditionist who decided he should choose the president, rather than the American people. Having that on public record is important, after all the Trump defenders have died, history will have a public record to look back at and see that Trump was not only a horrible president, he was a traitor to the American people.

8 ( +16 / -8 )

Oh yeah and Adam Schiff also said he had personally seen evidence of Russian collusion.

whatever happened there?

-7 ( +6 / -13 )

As for the Committee. SImple question. Why don't they just subpoena Trump? They spend so much time and energy dancing around without hearing directly from the supposed source of the trouble. This is also the first congressional committee that I can recall that was purely partisan. No "defence" team in sight. It is all political theater, timed to distract the public from the serious policy and economic failures of the Biden administration.

The "Trump" brand sells. The media pine for the days of 2018-20 when they had such high ratings by constantly rehashing every little foible and supposed mis-step.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

As for the Committee. SImple question. Why don't they just subpoena Trump?

Why give him a mic? They don't need him to prove his sedition and his coup.

The GOP probably shouldn't have tried to block this commission hey mate.

5 ( +12 / -7 )

The but Truuuuump deflection from gas prices, no formula, inflation and crime as well as the near crash of the stock market won’t work.

too bad. Trump not in office nor is he on the ballot. Jan 6 candidates are actually doing pretty well at the ballot box so far.

-6 ( +6 / -12 )

Sorry, I couldn't hear you over Trump's nepotism with Ivanka and Jerod.

Oh wait, I was reading, so not being able to hear isn't the problem.

It seems like in the split second after you wrote the first sentence you realized you’re being illogical again and decided to quickly call an audible. Good move.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

It seems like in the split second after you wrote the first sentence you realized you’re being illogical again and decided to quickly call an audible. Good move.

Heh, you avoided any discussion of Jerod and Ivanka as any good GOP sheep does. Well done.

-1 ( +8 / -9 )

too bad. Trump not in office nor is he on the ballot.

Heh, once again you whine about having done to you what you guys did for four years of Trump. Hope you don't expect us to do anything other than enjoy your annoyance from that.

3 ( +10 / -7 )

They remain defiant to this day; and unfortunately for the Americans, they’re gonna stay on this vindictive path indefinitely.

Vindictive path? Maybe you ought to ask these members of MAGA-nation about who is being vindictive;

Mike Pence...

Mo Brooks...

Ivanka...

4 ( +9 / -5 )

They remain defiant to this day; and unfortunately for the Americans, they’re gonna stay on this vindictive path indefinitely.

Trump and his people attempt to hang the vice president to overthrow the election, and the Democrats are the ones who are vindictive. Ok, boomer.

4 ( +11 / -7 )

Heh, you avoided any discussion of Jerod and Ivanka as any good GOP sheep does. Well done.

I admitted, they’re all corrupt. We could go back and forth all day with examples of nepotism and general corruption on both sides. That’s why I said let’s consider what president has best served the interests of the American people. It’s clear that’s it’s Trump. At least with Trump, the nation was well off. With the dems, they just get rich themselves while turning their districts into bastions of poverty and dysfunction. The nation does not benefit. Trump shined a light on their charade, that’s why they hate him worse than cancer.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Trump supporters don't want a democratically elected President....

Sure we do. We just don’t believe the democrats are very democratic, despite appearances. And we know what people who agree with you really think:

I hope so. The collapse of America would benefit the rest of us well

So as a Trump supporter, I’d say it is who are most concerned with preservation of democracy.

-6 ( +4 / -10 )

You know, the places where there are no elections and the guy in charge just stays in charge.

didnt we just have elections in 2020? arent new ones scheduled for Nov 2022 -and- 2024?

Seems everything fine, except that Dems are losing those so far. due to poor policies and poor performance.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

didnt we just have elections in 2020?

You mean the one your boy tried to overthrow with a coup? That election, or was there another one that you're referring to, and if so, why are you avoiding talking about your boy's attempted coup?

3 ( +7 / -4 )

maybe because there was no "coup"? thats the obvious answer which is right in front of you.

Typical back and forth-

We have enough to indict Trump!

So....do it?

We have enough to indict Trump!

So. do it!?

Coup, insurrection, Jan 6th!

Ummm, ok then? So indict him?

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

maybe because there was no "coup"?

Yeah, it was only an attempt. It failed. All on the public record mate, I watched it on TV the other night where it was sworn in that "Trump attempted a coup".

Maybe you should try to keep up on current events before commenting...

5 ( +8 / -3 )

We have enough to indict Trump!

So....do it?

Oh dear, and by what mechanism would congress be able to do that when it's not in their power?

6 ( +8 / -2 )

You mean the one your boy tried to overthrow with a coup? That election, or was there another one that you're referring to, and if so, why are you avoiding talking about your boy's attempted coup?

People are avoiding it because their tired of it. The dems have drawn this out for six years with no end in sight. I wish they’d lock Trump up today so we could focus on Biden’s bid to become the worst president in American history. His numbers are just abysmal. But, right on cue during an election year, this will dominate mainstream media and other information platforms and rob us again of our valuable attention. Put Trump away and let’s focus on Biden’s border, economic, immigration, crime-prevention, and foreign policies, which are all just utter trash.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

People are avoiding it because their tired of it.

Americans are tired of hearing how their president tried to throw a coup. Well, if the next attempt succeeds, they'll deserve it then. People who are too tired to put in the work for democracy don't end up with it.

Your opinion bodes well for your people.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Not supposedly. It isn't a trial. There is neither a jury nor a judge.

Exactly, but according to the Democrats it’s essentially a trail

This isn't true. Trump didn't call the national guard.

It is, it’s in the records, it’s documented and shame on the Dems for not allowing in in their sham trial

Ahh yes, Trump deserves credit for issuing a statement

Unless you want this trial to be unfair and just make it a witch hunt then go ahead.

after spending hours watching the events at the capital and not lifting a finger. Right, we really need to give Trump credit

Ok, so let’s not make it fair and ignore all the facts including Trump’s request for the National Guard to come in and quell the protests and absolve Pelosi of all responsibilities. Look, I would have more respect for this kangaroo hearing if these people were truly honest and say, we are doing everything in our power to stop Trump from running, I would give them credit, even respect the, that they’re at least being honest, but this sham….

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

Americans are tired of hearing how their president tried to throw a coup.

So now you speak for Americans despite being anti-American and desiring the “collapse of America”. You’re anti-2nd amendment yet you hope there’s a civil war—either you’re counting on savagery or you hoping for the government to obliterate the people and become authoritarian. Makes sense coming from one of Trudeau’s subjects. You’re funny.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Monday should prove very interesting....

Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign manager will appear as a witness Monday before the House committee investigating the attack on the US Capitol as it seeks to establish links between the rioters and the former president’s inner circle or even himself. A committee aide said Sunday night the panel will also seek to show that Trump’s political fund-raising apparatus used the stolen-election claim to mislead and raise millions of dollars from donors. Bill Stepien, the campaign manager, is among five witnesses listed by the committee for its next meeting. On political talk shows Sunday, committee members said Trump knew that his claims of a stolen election were false but used them to incite the Jan. 6, 2021 mob anyway.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/jan-6-panel-to-hear-trump-campaign-boss-in-bid-to-make-case/ar-AAYo3x1?cvid=13f1a08529c84ed8831c9a20a600c79b

So we will hear Trump's right-hand guy - his trusted campaign manager, tell us that Trump knew he lost but kept up with the Big Lie to scam his supporters out of money and incite them to riot on Jan 6th....

Can't wait...

3 ( +6 / -3 )

This is the epitome of a show trial.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

So we will hear Trump's right-hand guy - his trusted campaign manager, tell us that Trump knew he lost but kept up with the Big Lie

Will the Dems continue to lie and Cherry-pick details they want to allow in this kangaroo show or will they be fair (lol) and include this line? now,”  “We have to have peace. We have to have law and order.”

No violence!” adding: “Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue.”

to scam his supporters out of money and incite them to riot on Jan 6th....

Can't wait...

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Well, certainly charging a former President is unprecedented and it would bring risks but Trump's attack on the US Constitution was also unprecedented and it necessitates a response from the state.

America was changed by Jan 6 and simply ignoring that fact won't make it go away.

For the US to go forward as a democracy, those responsible for Jan 6 must be held to account.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

I'm sure they will - and they'll point that he uttered those words at 3:13 and 4:17 pm - hours after the attack - and after telling them in the morning; "walk down" to the Capitol to "cheer on our brave senators." And "fight like hell" because if they didn't they wouldn't "have a country anymore."

https://www.newsweek.com/trumps-jan-6-speech-texts-calls-what-former-president-said-during-capitol-riot-1665967

More importantly, Septien will confirm Trump always knew he lost, but kept propagating the Big Lie and was only playing his supporters to bilk them out of their money - which he did...and was lying to his flock on Jan 6th when he said it was "stolen".

to scam his supporters out of money and incite them to riot on Jan 6th....

Can't wait...

Me either...

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Well, certainly charging a former President is unprecedented and it would bring risks

Exactly, and the Dems have so often overstepped their constitutional authority before and regretted it because once the Republicans retake the House and launch their investigation, I seriously doubt the Dems won’t be warm and fuzzy to accept what will be coming their way.

America was changed by Jan 6

Depends, the vast majority of Americans want to move on, so they hired a former ABC exec to make a full televised presentation for this…ok

and simply ignoring that fact won't make it go away.

I don’t think we should forget and that goes for the 3 months BLM and Antifa arsons, rioting, destruction and attacks on our law enforcement many of us never got the answer or resolving it.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

Sounds like a witch-hunt. Move on. /s

Well, here is the thing, half of the country believes it was stolen and this kangaroo hearings will not dissuade people from believing that the election was stolen regardless of what happens to Trump..

Me either...

Yup, good entertainment value

*I'm sure they will - and they'll point that he uttered those words at 3:13 and 4:17 pm -*

You need to focus on the timeline - Trump only said "go home" hours after the insurrection - and didn't even say that earlier when urged by Don Jr, Ivanka, even Hannity....

Well, when you have conservative icon Bill Barr and the President's favorite kid saying there was no "steal" - and his trusted campaign manager saying Trump knows he lost and is just scamming his supporters - all Americans will think there is the "thing"....

Me either...

Yup, good entertainment value

Glad you'll be watching...stock up on hankies....
