Good!

They are also investigating what Trump himself was doing as his supporters fought their way into the Capitol.

Trump made no statements, took no action for more than 3 hours. That shows he either a) was incompetent as a president, b) wanted to let the insurrectionists succeed, or c) was part of the plot.

If any Maga fans here on JT have another scenario in mind, I’d sure like to hear it. (As long as it doesn’t veer off into “what about libs” territory.)

A new poll says 1/3rd of Americans now believe that violence against the government is justified, double the number from 2015.

Could Civil War II or a secession happen again?

-4 ( +9 / -13 )

they are planning televised hearings and reports that will bring their findings out into the open.

Shown on CNN which nobody watches anymore.

-4 ( +11 / -15 )

Hard core followers of Trump wont believe any of it. Hell they probably think the world is flat too!

9 ( +19 / -10 )

Capitol police should have gone weapons hot.

So are they going to go after the owners of the circus or just the clowns?

0 ( +10 / -10 )

Their goal is not only to show the severity of the riot, but also to make a clear connection between the attack and Trump’s brazen pressure on the states and Congress to overturn Joe Biden’s legitimate election as president.

The Overton window of political discourse in America has moved so far to the right there has to be a reset. The threat of fascism, led by religious fundamentalists and Trump world political grifters and their propaganda machine is real.

But it is also used as a boogeyman to make it seem that a neo-liberal conservative who voted for legislation supporting crushing debt for Americans and the prison industrial complex is the only alternative for fascism.

America absolutely needs to look at the models of the social democracies of Europe.

“The full picture is coming to light, despite President Trump’s ongoing efforts to hide the picture,”

But Trump's klan members, mostly medi-phobes along with others imagining demons and dragons only they can see will continue to follow their cult leader and claim any media outlet reporting the findings is 'fake news'. Trump's followers, for whatever reason, have paid for and drunk Trump's Kool-aid, while they pay their cult leader to play golf and hold fundraisers with the globe's richest in the fossil establishment. And at one time, Trump's klans claimed he was an anti-establishment warrior.

trump said, 'We love you'. That says plenty right there. He tweeted there would be a 'wild time' on Jan. 6. He planned it all along. He is guilty of treason and instigating it. Everyone involved in it must be punished, they are not above the law.

FYIToday  08:33 am JST

Are they going to have hearings on the violence and destruction caused by the BLM "peaceful" protests?

Afterall, several city blocks were burnt to the ground and countless stores were looted.

This has ZERO to do with BLM. Much of those protests were infiltrated by white racist militia scum trying to ignite a 'RAcial HOly WAr' for trump. HE is the focus of it all and he is guilty.

4 ( +14 / -10 )

Hard core followers of Trump wont believe any of it. Hell they probably think the world is flat too!

... and hard core followers of Biden will believe everything CNN tells them.

"Their goal is not only to show the severity of the riot, but also to make a clear connection between the attack and Trump’s brazen pressure on the states and Congress to overturn Joe Biden’s legitimate election as president."

Anyone that has a TV or internet connection has seen the severity. (Although, TheFu on this board made a good point that the insurrectionist had no more plan than selfies and return to the motel 6), so this is yet another dragging of Trump. Doesn't change opinions the Trump fans or the Trump haters, or likely the ever coveted independents. So essentially more DC theater.

2 ( +8 / -6 )

the worst attack on the Capitol in two centuries,

Well, I guess it depends on how your measure an attack.

On March 1, 1954, three men and one woman entered the visitor’s gallery above the chamber and quietly took their seats.  Around 2:30 p.m. they indiscriminately opened fire onto the House Floor and unfurled a Puerto Rican flag in a violent act of protest meant to draw attention to their demand for Puerto Rico’s immediate independence.

Five Congressmen were wounded in the shooting.

1 ( +10 / -9 )

Almost a whole year has passed and yet the political class of America still have no ways of making an ex-president talk!? Mollycoddling presidents and treating them like royalty is the sole reason why this whole January 6 mess remains unresolved, stymieing the business of the nation and wasting taxpayers' hard-earned monies. It's pathetic that "Lèse-majesté" appears to still play a significant role in the "smoke 'n' mirrors" apparatus of social control in the democratic system of today's USA. "Home of the Brave" indeed!

0 ( +10 / -10 )

Trump made no statements, took no action for more than 3 hours. That shows he either a) was incompetent as a president, b) wanted to let the insurrectionists succeed, or c) was part of the plot.

Well, good luck for the Dems to try and legally establish what was in Trump’s head at the time. Showing intent is what’s going to sink this committee.

If any Maga fans here on JT have another scenario in mind, I’d sure like to hear it. (As long as it doesn’t veer off into “what about libs” territory.)

You really don’t control the narrative of how this plays out.

-10 ( +10 / -20 )

According to Tucker, it is Proud Boys fault for failing to prevent the election fraud and ended up with Brandon in WH.

4 ( +12 / -8 )

so it’s going to be “Jan 6th week” in the media isn’t it?

I don't know, but I'd certainly have no problem with it. We certainly shouldn't forget the insurrectionists and those who aided and abetted them.

Remember this one?

Who cares about one lone idiot? What's far more concerning is the hundreds of Trumpistas who rioted and attempted forcibly get the results of the election overturned. So funny that you'd rather talk about one lone nutter than hundreds of people storming the Capitol and attempting to overturn an election.

0 ( +9 / -9 )

Can't wait for Election Day 2022.

1 ( +8 / -7 )

Odd that you would want to avoid investigation of an attack on the Capitol.

Let's see, which is more concerning hundreds of Trump fans breaking into the Capitol and attempting to overthrow the election or one lone idiot in a car? I'm sure you think they're the same, but then again you were literally on here before the January 6th riots, expressing your hope that the election results would be thrown out- hardly unbiased.

3 ( +9 / -6 )

trump said, 'We love you'. That says plenty right there.

Like what??? In other words telling his supporters that is a crime? Now it just looks like the left is grasping at straws if you want to make that argument.

*He tweeted there would be a 'wild time' on Jan. 6. He planned it all along. *

He also said that

“I know how you feel, but go home and go home in peace. I know you’re in pain. I know you’re hurt,” Trump said in a one minute video address released on his Twitter account.

and this…”But you have to go home now. We have to have peace. We have to have law and order. We have to respect our great people in law and order. We don’t want anybody hurt,”

That part is crucial and determines he was completely against some of these people that were involved in the trespassing and unrest.

He is guilty of treason and instigating it.

NOPE! In the US you are always innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and this is not an actual court of law.

Everyone involved in it must be punished, they are not above the law.

Yes, and does that also include Ray Epps?

*Much of those protests were infiltrated by white racist militia scum trying to ignite a 'RAcial HOly WAr' for trump. HE is the focus of it all and he is guilty.*

Yeah, good luck in proving that one. Either you are innocent until proven guilty or we just have a partisan witch hunt. You can hate the man, but you and none of us can determine the guilt or innocence of any individual legally if they haven’t been officially convicted of a crime. You’re stretching it a bit once again, racial holy war? Give me a break!

-10 ( +9 / -19 )

He also said that

“I know how you feel, but go home and go home in peace. I know you’re in pain. I know you’re hurt,” Trump said in a one minute video address released on his Twitter account.

After the horse had bolted and only after being pressured into making a statement.

4 ( +12 / -8 )

NOPE! In the US you are always innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and this is not an actual court of law.

It's the federal system and they are a ruthless and actual court of law including mandatory minimums

4 ( +9 / -5 )

Yeah, good luck in proving that one. Either you are innocent until proven guilty or we just have a partisan witch hunt.

Nope. It's bipartisan. Kinzinger and Cheney are both Republicans. You can look over their records, they voted overwhelming along party line and supported Trump.

Also, the purpose of collecting records and transcripts is exactly to determine state of mind, which is exactly why Trump doesn't want them released.

You can hate the man, but you and none of us can determine the guilt or innocence of any individual legally if they haven’t been officially convicted of a crime.

This isn't a court. We're all free to offer our opinions and people do it here each and every day.

--If any Maga fans here on JT have another scenario in mind, I’d sure like to hear it. (As long as it doesn’t veer off into “what about libs” territory.)

You really don’t control the narrative of how this plays out.

I’m not controlling the narrative. I’m asking for possible scenarios. Trump was president and he did nothing. Why might that be?

Are you pooh-pooing the attack on the capitol, like other of your brethren on this thread? I wonder why Trump’s own son and various Fox pundits were in a panic about what was happening, while Trump watched TV. Trump always had time to tweet insults to anyone who got under his thin skin, but he didn’t think an attack on the capitol was worth commenting on, let alone acting on?

5 ( +12 / -7 )

""Their goal is not only to show the severity of the riot, but also to make a clear connection between the attack and Trump’s brazen pressure on the states and Congress to overturn Joe Biden’s legitimate election as president.""

Understood, so when will get locked up!? , NEVER as always Mr. Teflon will just walk away like all the rich and powerful.

2 ( +7 / -5 )

“I know how you feel, but go home and go home in peace. I know you’re in pain. I know you’re hurt,”

Yeah, we all saw and heard Trump reading off his Kumbaya shtick to cover his rear, but it'll be the several previous outttakes that will surely nail his bad faith and criminal dereliction of duty. Millions of us have our popcorn ready to watch the tell-tale footage that will be the equivalent of Nixon's Watergate tapes.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

They’ve interviewed more than 300 witnesses, collected tens of thousands of documents and traveled around the country to talk to election officials who were pressured by Donald Trump.

To include documents given by Trump crony Bernard Kerik last week....oh my.....

“The full picture is coming to light, despite President Trump’s ongoing efforts to hide the picture,” said Wyoming Rep Liz Cheney, the committee’s vice chairwoman and one of its two Republican members.

She sure has more "cojones" than most of her other male Repub Eunuch Congressmen....

About 90% of the witnesses called by the committee have cooperated, Thompson said, despite the defiance of high-profile Trump allies such as Steve Bannon and former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows.

Indeed, a few decided to take the 5th - just like the "mob", as one person said....

Just like with Nixon, the truth will all come out...and Repubs will once more be pariahs for their blatant attempt to subvert democracy...and walk all over our Constitution....

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Nope. It's bipartisan. Kinzinger and Cheney are both Republicans.

Ok, so we can’t have a fair hearing, so kick Meadows and Jordan off and let’s get two outgoing Trump hating Republicans to help us try and see what we can come up with.

You can look over their records, they voted overwhelming along party line and supported Trump.

You have not read their comments also that they are afraid to death that this man could be President again. If you have that concerned fear then you have zero business being on any committee if you want it to be taken seriously.

Also, the purpose of collecting records and transcripts is exactly to determine state of mind, which is exactly why Trump doesn't want them released.

Again, there is no proof that can determine that and why should he allow the Dems to try and go after him again, that would be stupid if he gave them the tools to crucify him, no one would do that.

This isn't a court.

Pelosi thinks it is.

.

-11 ( +4 / -15 )

This is going to go on all week here and not change one single vote in November.

nor prevent Trump from running in 2024 if he wants.

-11 ( +5 / -16 )

NOPE! In the US you are always innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and this is not an actual court of law.

Most Trump people don't understand state and federal laws. When BLM/ANTIFA were vandalizing local businesses those were state crimes, but when NRA/2A proud boys invaded the Capitol, those were federal crimes. In that case the federal system has almost unlimited resources and will not leave a stone unturned to go after suspects. And people like the horned QANON Shanon dude got around 5 years for what seemed to be minor crimes in the eyes of Tucker/Hannity and Alex Jones. That's how this all works and sorry FOX fans

2 ( +6 / -4 )

*I’m not controlling the narrative. I’m asking for possible scenarios. Trump was president and he did nothing. Why might that be?*

I just gave you a few.

Are you pooh-pooing the attack on the capitol,

What?

like other of your brethren on this thread? I wonder why Trump’s own son and various Fox pundits were in a panic about what was happening, while Trump watched TV.

Yeah and to that point and I’m glad you brought that up, they were all equally panicky and beyond angry and called for Pelosi and the left to stop all the summer violence in the summer of that year. They denied Trump’s request to call in the National Guard, can’t have that, can’t protect the cities of US citizens, but on Jan 6th they’re called in. The problem is either you condemn all of it or nothing and the FNC pundits were very clear on that and backed it up with statements, it’s the hypocrisy they object to and they uttered that on those days and let’s not forget Liz was caught doctored text messages to Mark Meadows, she got busted for fabricating evidence about Trump himself. We all know where this is trying to go…..again.

Trump always had time to tweet insults to anyone who got under his thin skin, but he didn’t think an attack on the capitol was worth commenting on, let alone acting on?

He did comment, scroll up. Now we got that out of the way, let’s see what these people will try and do to see about stopping the guy from running.

-10 ( +4 / -14 )

Ok, so we can’t have a fair hearing, so kick Meadows and Jordan off

Considering both Meadows and Jordan are under investigation, it is absolutely appropriate to kick them off the committee. Why should suspects be allowed to investigate, and potentially, clear themselves of wrongdoing? Does that sound "bipartisan" to you?

and let’s get two outgoing Trump hating Republicans to help us try and see what we can come up with.

So, being a Republican is no longer good enough, we must have Trump loyalists on the committee or it's partisan? Again, it seems rightists have deluded themselves into believing that anything not rigged on their favor is inherently partisan.

Again, there is no proof that can determine that and why should he allow the Dems to try and go after him again, that would be stupid if he gave them the tools to crucify him, no one would do that.

Unless you're actually privy to the information in the documents being requested, you have no idea what proof there is or isn't. I'm willing to bet there's damning information there considering A) the efforts Trump is making to prevent Congressional oversight, and B) his public tweets about the riots, primarily the following one.

These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide election victory is so unceremoniously & viciously stripped away from great patriots who have been badly & unfairly treated for so long. Go home with love & in peace. Remember this day forever!

Also, notice the dozen or so Tweets throughout the day of January 6th, and that even is the riots happened, Trump did nothing. Absolutely nothing until 8pm that night. Trump wanted it to happen.

https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/tweets-january-6-2021

3 ( +8 / -5 )

They'll be a huge mountain of evidence of Trump's attempted coup, and he and his staff's collusion with Repub Congressmen and far-right domestic terrorists groups like the Proud Boys....

But this will really be the smoking gun;

*A chilling item in a document log provided to Jan. 6 investigators describes a draft letter by then-President Donald Trump *calling for the “seizure” of election materials after he lost.

The log, along with a trove of documents, was provided last week to the House select committee probing the insurrection. They were handed over by Trump ally Bernard Kerik, former New York City police commissioner and a confidant of Trump’s one-time attorney Rudy Giuliani, Politico reported.

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/bernard-kerik-potus-trump-letter-seize-election-materials_n_61d11c38e4b0c7d8b8a4d1fd

Nothing but a use of government power to "seize" voting ballots - and overturn the will of the people...just like some third-world dictator....

"Strop The Steal" has a new meaning after all this damning evidence comes out...

3 ( +7 / -4 )

Considering both Meadows and Jordan are under investigation, it is absolutely appropriate to kick them off the committee.

Hmmm…for supporting Trump, but even Liz who was caught doctoring Meadows speech and fabricating evidence on Trump just gets a pass…ok… lol

So, being a Republican is no longer good enough, we must have Trump loyalists on the committee or it's partisan?

But it’s fair to have Trump only haters??? Why?

Unless you're actually privy to the information in the documents being requested, you have no idea what proof there is or isn't.

Neither do you.

I'm willing to bet there's damning

The left always hope for that. Hasn’t worked out for them historically.

Also, notice the dozen or so Tweets throughout the day of January 6th, and that even is the riots happened, Trump did nothing.

*“I know how you feel, but go home and go home in peace. I know you’re in pain. I know you’re hurt,” Trump said in a one minute video address released on his Twitter account.*

and this…”But you have to go home now. We have to have peace. We have to have law and order. We have to respect our great people in law and order. We don’t want anybody hurt,”

He did. That’s something and that can’t be refuted or disputed, has to go in the records and can’t be omitted.

Trump wanted it to happen.

Not if you go by this statement. Well, that just blew up their arguments.

Besides telling them to stop, nothing.

Can you clarify exactly when he did that? Like, how soon after the riot started?

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Hmmm…for supporting Trump, but even Liz who was caught doctoring Meadows speech and fabricating evidence on Trump just gets a pass…ok… lol

They're not being investigated for supporting Trump. Please stick the facts. Supporting a president, any president, isn't a crime, but insurrection/treason etc are crimes and THAT is what they're being investigated for.

It is telling that you are trying to equate the two. Are you suggesting you're only a supporter of the president if you support the January 6th riots?

But it’s fair to have Trump only haters??? Why?

They aren't "Trump haters," they are conservatives. They were absolutely in favor of nearly everything Trump was in favor, the only thing they disagreed with is throwing out valid election results, because they aren't fascists/authoritarians. Frankly we should all be appalled at January 6th, it wasn't a good day for American democracy.

He did. That’s something and that can’t be refuted or disputed, has to go in the records and can’t be omitted.

After 8pm. He said that hours after the riots had started, completely ignoring pleas of friends, family, and allies. You don't get credit for making one Tweet 7 hours after the Capitol is breached. He then followed that tweet you referenced with,

These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide election victory is so unceremoniously & viciously stripped away from great patriots who have been badly & unfairly treated for so long. Go home with love & in peace. Remember this day forever!

Give me a break already. It is clear Trump was very happy with the riots and was merely covering is butt at the end. https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/tweets-january-6-2021

Does it, now. What about the allegations that he only made these admirable statements after watching the riots on TV for three hours, and being asked to twice by his daughter?*

You’re asking for obfuscation and deflection with this question.

That's exactly what I'm expecting. Personally, if I were a loyal Trump supporter the only answer I would feel comfortable with giving was that he didn't need anyone to tell him anything, and that he was on air within minutes of it all kicking off, telling those people to stop what they were doing and give themselves up. If I couldn't give an answer like that I don't think I'd be such a loyal Trump supporter any more.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Does it, now.

Yes

What about the allegations that he only made these admirable statements after watching the riots on TV for three hours, and being asked to twice by his daughter?

Yeah, so that’s where the doctoring of the documents come in. In a normal and bipartisan situation, Cheney would and should have been kicked off the committee, but we are talking about Trump so all normal rules and decor with this congress don’t fly, but that’s all going to change in 11 months.

-12 ( +0 / -12 )

Yes, getting a blowhard to demonstrate his intent is going to be soooo difficult.

No, he was quite clear.

Ever listen to any of Trump’s depositions? The guy couldn’t shut his pie hole if his life depended on it.

Oh, I can think of a dozen House members on the left that I could say the same thing. Trump doesn’t even come close. Listening to Nancy does give you some pause…..
