No more bushes please, don't waste our time Jeb we aren't voting for you even if you keep the "I'm the smart bush" glasses on

"Potential foes in both parties have already begun to pour through Bush’s extensive private dealings in search of fodder for criticism. "

The expression is "'pore' through". I swear sometimes JT should correct crappy spelling and grammar, but that's what cut-and-paste gives the common crowd. Bad English.

Like I said before, the RNC could the GOP candidate for President could be a three legged blind hamster and he would still win.

The leftist DNC is a smelly dead fish floating in the water that no one wants to touch. The left dug it's own grave by forgetting that not everyone is a Communist.

Media contributers are positivre on Jefr/ Tjeysay Hilart should wait till Aor to wait all candidate come out and burn out so that ir will be Hilary against Jerd with GOP majority Congress.

Your ideas on what democracy is and how it works are .... interesting.

Thank you, my dear.

you need to write your own dictionary, because the one the rest of us are using obviously isn't doing it for you.

Actually No, I don't. But unlike you, I am on the move, going from place to place, in my car and have a heavy time schedule that I have to adhere to. I type fast, use Siri and just hit the send button, sorry.

Race stops people understanding? Not racist much, are we?

Absolutely not.

it depends on how much (or in your case, how little) you let facts and the actual meanings of words get in the way of a good rant.

That is your personal Opinion and you are entitled to it.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

This ends the bickering on this thread.

And they have every right to do that (keep it in the family), they have the experience and the money like it or not, that is how democracy works.

Your ideas on what democracy is and how it works are .... interesting.

Bass, you need to write your own dictionary, because the one the rest of us are using obviously isn't doing it for you.

if many Latinos and Blacks understood the political climate better, they would understand that this president has been a huge let down

Race stops people understanding? Not racist much, are we?

It just depends on how you see and what you discern as rhetoric.

No bass, it depends on how much (or in your case, how little) you let facts and the actual meanings of words get in the way of a good rant.

With David Duke threatening to name names and run interference for Scalise turning into the top political story so far this year, Jeb better make sure every campaign speech is 50% Spanish to counteract fears about his party.

David Duke is probably as irrelevant as Ross Perot. No one cares or most people don't even know who he is. The fact is, if many Latinos and Blacks understood the political climate better, they would understand that this president has been a huge let down, Blacks taking the biggest brunt of the financial hardship and Blacks stand the worst in this economy to lose which stands at 10.7% if anything, listening to the constant lies and deception and keeping Blacks on the government nipple will always keep them in double digit unemployment.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Sounds Jeb is ready to become GOP candidate. Political commenter in media are not jearous on his family background. Not to Hilary, either.

There was a political cartoon flying around that summed up the situation pretty well. It had pics of Jeb and Hillay with the caption "WORST RE-GIFTING EVER!".

That's how I feel about either of them. I don't see much real talent in either camp. A few bright spots in both but they'll never get the nominations because they aren't foaming at the mouth left or right wing. It's getting tedious.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

You'd have said the same of Obama a few years ago, and now here he is, wiping his ass on your face.

Funny how you Libs can't refrain from being vulgar, that usually happens when one becomes frustrated or tongue twisted, backed in a corner. Be as it may and dealing with the hear and the now, ANY Democrat that runs behind Obama will have less of a chance taking the WH, now anything is possible, but the way his majesty is going, I doubt it.

Jeb Bush does have a politician son. You're never going to guess his name, but I sh¥t ya not the guy is named George Prescott Bush!

As if that's a crime.

He just got elected to run a state mineral rights agency in Texas. I guess there were no other 30 something Floridians available for the job. Naw, ain't no nepotism involved, no way, no how. As for his old man, pushing sixty and out of office for a decade, don't know if Jeb is really as popular outside Florida as he thinks.

Doesn't matter, the point is that he has at least a record and a positive one, particularly with the Latino community which is increasingly very important, speaks fluent Spanish, a huge political advantage. How's Hilary's Spanish or Frankan or any of the other liberal moon bats?

But maybe reflecting and winning over semi-retired comfortable rich folks is the key to the next election. First Abenomics, next Jebenomics?

Then that means Hilary should go in the corner and sit down if we're going to talk about age.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

@wipeout, that's a little harsh. Our buddy Bass got something right earlier. Jeb Bush does have a politician son. You're never going to guess his name, but I sh¥t ya not the guy is named George Prescott Bush! He just got elected to run a state mineral rights agency in Texas. Well, the Democrats have Jim Webb,a former Senator and Secretary of the Navy (I know; Jeb had other properties); a few governors such as Martin O'Malley of Maryland, Andrew Cuomo of New York, and Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania; some wild cards such as Antonio Villaraigosa, former Mayor of Los Angeles; and current or former celebrities like Al Franken or - gasp! George Clooney!

Franken, O'Mailey? Villaraigosa is from my city...gawk! You just listed the entertainment line of Cirque Du Soilel. With that list, the Dems ONLY hope and I mean, ONLY hope is just stay with Hilary, because without a shadow of a doubt if ANYBODY of these people run, you can kiss the White House goodbye.

Then there's Biden himself as well as Sanders, assuming he doesn't run as an independent. And more! Anyone who makes confident predictions about 2016 this far out is an idiot.

Anyone thinking that old Biden standing an even possible remote chance of winning the nomination needs to have themselves checked in.

Jeb will never clear the knuckle dragging crowd of right wing nutters that vote in the primaries. Jeb's wife is an immigrant herself. The Rush Limbaugh crowd will have none of that.

Last I checked, the US is a nation make up of immigrants. Jeb's wife is a legal immigrants. No one objects to that, not een Limbaugh, but allowing 5 million ILLEGALS into the country and allowingt hem to jump ahead of honest law abiding foreigners that followed all the rules, paid a lot of money, studied very hard to prepare for the test in becoming legal citizens, everyone has a problem with that, including some serious non-partisan Democrats.

I can tell you who will win the election, it will be the Koch Brothers. They along with Big Business have bought the US government. Bush or Clinton, doesn't matter. The American people lose.

Exactly the same way in 2008 when Billionaire progressive George Soros won the election for Obama, at least in large part was responsible in funding Obama's campaign, so what's the difference? Soros donates money to liberal causes and the Koch brothers to Conservative causes. Time to put the partisan politics aside.

Democrats WIN!

Really? So where were you in November??

Jeb Bush: This year's Fred Thompson

Both are talented, one a successful govener, the other politician and actor.

So what's Obama's fame to claim besides being the worst president in US History?

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

No more bush.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Serrano - I'd forgotten about "Gravity" (probably a subconscious defensive mechanism). Okay, no Clooney! (He'd make a good ambassador to Britain, though.)

Lessee... Jeb Bush vs George Clooney... how could anyone vote against the guy who portrayed the hero who sacrificed himself to save Dr. Stone in Gravity? If the Democrats nominate Clooney ( even though he shares the same first name as Jeb's brother ), it's all over!

The Bush political dynasty goes back at least three generations, starting with Prescott, senator representing Connecticut from 1952 until 1963.

Ok, so the Bush family had money, please explain how that is a bad thing. Also, I have news for you, Jeb's son is thinking in the distant future to probably run as well, they do have a big family.

Clinton was born into a poor, broken Arkansas family,

And now hands over fist is probably one of the most powerful ex-presidents that we have, who has a lot of money, tons of it.

while Obama was arguably (for some - still!) born in Kenya. Also, I don't see a stable of Clinton's or Obama's on the horizon.

And look at how much money the Obama's made and when he's out of office. As for the Clinton dynasty, keep dreaming. Maybe the kid of Chelsea perhaps. But this upcoming election cycle, probably not.

@smith

Not with all the infighting amongst the Republicans. Bush would give them a slight solidarity on one particular figure, but you'll still have the nut-bag Tea Party who will demand any nominee take their way or the highway, and as such you'll end up with a really, really bitter fight for who gets to run on the Republican ticket,

Could be, but I have no doubt in my mind that in the end both sides will come together and do what is best for the country. As for the Dems, if Hilary doesn't run, watch out! Because that's it for them and you think that all libs will go for Warren? She's as Left wing, if not, worse than Obama. Good luck with that. The Far-progressive left and the moderate Democrat base will most definitely be split in half.

whereas the Dems can just sit back and from the outset point to the infighting between Republicans to show the Repubs can't and won't do a good job, and all the while cementing support for themselves. The rest of Obama's time in office will see the House and newly won Senate DESPERATELY trying to pass their garbage and FAILING every time, with Obama sticking to his guns more than ever over health care, etc., and that TOO is going to frustrate the public who just voted in the Republicans. The party of 'no' is now learning how badly they've screwed themselves.

Hmmm...the Democrats have only one..again, one soft boiled egg in their basket and that is Hilary Clinton that's it, if she doesn't run, who do the Democrats have? Elizabeth Warren? Good gosh, if that is the case, I really hope she would run because in doing so, will automatically put a Republican in the White House. And the so called party of NO will keep saying NO as long as the anointed one will try to ram through his over the top destructive progressive agendas. Once the Repub. Senate is sworn in, let the battle begin, but Obama has another think coming if he can get much of anything done, unless he meets the Repubs. halfway. Remember, the more he screws up, the more it makes him and his already crushed party look that much more unelectable. So I kinda do hope Obama is defiant that gives Conservatives and Republicans a much better chance at 2016.

Or are you saying she is wrong and facts and reality DO get in the way of your rhetoric/opinions? In either case, you're just admitting they are not part of your rhetoric/opinions, so good on you!

That's not what I was implying at all. It just depends on how you see and what you discern as rhetoric.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

The GOP Presidential nominee could be a blind 3-legged hamster and he would still win. Only way the GOP will lose in 2016 is if Palin or Bachmann were on the ticket.

JTDanManJan. 02, 2015 - 08:52AM JST Please, oh please, let Bush get the nomination. 'Cause Americana hate the name. With good reason. And that means Team Dem wins in 2016.

The only way the Liberals will win in 2016 is if every single Independent, Moderate Democrats and Republicans are kidnapped by aliens and can't vote.

2016 will be the end of the far left in the US.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Serrano, Gore was quite the gentleman there after having received 543,895 more popular votes than Bush. Yes, it was close, and yes, America's democracy is rather funky, but give the man some credit.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

"Serranao: Didn't George W. Bush win re-election?"

"No he didn't. Because you can only be "re-elected" if you have first been elected. And GWB was not elected first time round - he was appointed by the courts following the great assistance he got from his brother in Florida"

Cripes, even Gore conceded the election to Bush after the Florida fiasco.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

bass4funk: "You think, seriously? Once Obama is out of office it'll be nothing but a miracle if a Democrat can get elected to anything for a very, very, very, very long time."

Or are you saying she is wrong and facts and reality DO get in the way of your rhetoric/opinions? In either case, you're just admitting they are not part of your rhetoric/opinions, so good on you!

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Jeff: The Government hasn't passed an actual budget in what? 6 or 7 years?

Passing a binding budget would require some Republicans to cross the aisle and support it. Doing so would put a target on their backs that other Republicans would stick the knife in. Just ask Ted Cruz.

We have no budget because Replublicans fear other Republicans and nothing more.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

And what exactly would you call a hereditary monarchy? (Maybe you need to check in your dictionary,

Actually, I don't need to. I'm quite up to-date on my European history, but thanks.

though I know you're not one to let facts and reality get in the way of your rhetoric/opinions)

well you thought wrong.

I don't see Obama readying his daughters or his wife to follow in his footsteps, though in the future, who knows...

They might have aspirations of their own some day you just never know.

right now the only political families trying to keep it in the family are the Clintons and the Bushes.

And they have every right to do that, they have the experience and the money like it or not, that is how democracy works.

Right, Cleo. The Bush political dynasty goes back at least three generations, starting with Prescott, senator representing Connecticut from 1952 until 1963. Actually, that would be Obama himself. Neither Bush nor Clinton were anything even close to what we would call a monarchy.

Bush or Clinton, Clinton or Bush.... 300 million people to choose from, and instead they turn it into something worse than a monarchy.

Actually, that would be Obama himself. Neither Bush nor Clinton were anything even close to what we would call a monarchy.

We tried it the last 6 years, don't like and now we know for sure having a Monarch ruler is nothing for us.

At least with a real hereditary monarchy, you know beforehand what you're getting.

That's what the people thought about Obama and look what happened. Buyers remorse.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Gore lost, pure and simple

He lost, but there was nothing pure or simple about it.

Bush or Clinton, Clinton or Bush.... 300 million people to choose from, and instead they turn it into something worse than a monarchy. At least with a real hereditary monarchy, you know beforehand what you're getting.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

No he didn't. Because you can only be "re-elected" if you have first been elected. And GWB was not elected first time round

Here we go again and OJ didn't commit the crime of the century either. How many times do we have to go with this. Gore lost, pure and simple, if he won, he would have been president, but knowing what we know about him, Thank the heavens that NEVER happened! Actually, you should be happy as well had Gore won, we having have been worst off than with Obama....seriously...might have been.

he was appointed by the courts following the great assistance he got from his brother in Florida. And now Jeb is calling the markers because he feels it is his turn.

As if Obama was insulated by Holder, the Unions, Sharpton by Comcast. Politics is a dirty business. Believe me, when Hilary is nominated watch out for the people and businesses that will pull every string to get her into the White House. Don't even try to make it seem that Democrats are immune to political bribery. Obama has been a master and clear leader in that.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Jeb himself has said that, to be successful in the general election, a GOP candidate has to be willing to lose the primaries. Not sure how that works in reality, but he does have a point. Many in the GOP are still seething after having nominated Romney previously (and this after McCain); they feel that the consecutive losses were due to not having as nominee a "true believer." These people are still around and may find greater influence after their victories in the midterms.

Much will likely be determined by how the GOP manages its role as custodian of Congress over the next two years. If they are able to restrain themselves and actually accomplish things, perhaps an atmosphere conducive to a moderate candidate can be created; if, though (and I consider this more likely), they succumb to the whims of Cruz and his ilk, passions will be stirred.

Still, even if nominated, Jeb has baggage rivaling Romney's - and Hillary's, thus removing one point of attack.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Serranao: Didn't George W. Bush win re-election?

Seriously? Romney and McCain fought tooth and nail to get away from George Bush as much as possible, the RNC 2012 didn't bother asking most of the people on Bush's cabinet or Bush himself to speak at the convention, the tea party despises Bush. What makes Jeb think he could possibly win?

So what do you think the Democratic party is doing? Hilary, Elizabeth Warren, even old Joe are distancing themselves from Obama and NOT fast enough. in 2008 NO Republican would have won, that was obvious. People wanted something different and they wanted to take a chance and that chance was an unknown African American Community organizer, the country was finally ready and the country decided to take a chance on something new and what happened the last 6 years? Nothing put chaos and destruction. over 58% of Americans think the country is off track. The Democratic party is EXACTLY in the same position was were the Republicans in 2008. While there are some in the Tea Party that don't like Bush, they need to get their ducks in order, because if the established and the Tea party people don't find a middle ground, they could mess things up for themselves in 2016 and on the other hand, the infighting between the Dems is also growing. You have the traditional Democrats, the Hilary loving crowd and you have the far-left progressive Elizabeth Warren loving type and that infighting will intensify throughout this year and next because the Dems have ONLY Hilary as their strongest and ONLY official contender at the moment.

Jeb's already fighting uphill with his last name (and having a yokel's first name doesn't help either). But he faces the same issue that all republicans face - that in order to secure the party leadership, he'll have to out-vitriol all other candidates. And that will sink his presidential chances same as it will sink all the other candidates, same as it did in 2012. The Republicans won in this last election because they kept their mouths shut. This next election, that won't be an option.

This is true, but after 6 years of Obama, they will line up all their ducks, they have NO choice. Both parties are splintered and NOT what they once were both Democrat and Republican You have moderates, progressives, staunch conservatives both parties do not entirely reflect the countries political rainbow views. The Republicans have a very, very good shot at 2016. The country is divided, you have a president that is unwilling to work with his now Republican congress majority, he wants to kill coal, oil, gas, the Keystone pipeline and there are thousands of people that work in the energy industry and Obama wants to stop or impose tighter regulations, basically putting these people out of business and you honestly thing that these people in middle America would vote for another Democrat? No indeed. Obama is single-handedly bringing down the Democratic party, which is actually fine to me, but if you think that all Democrats are standing behind this lying Charlatan, you are guessing wrong. Ever notice that none of the Dems are running on Obamacare or immigration

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

"What makes Jeb think he could possibly win?"

The Democrats will likely nominate Hillary Rodham Clinton?

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

I just wish the entire Bush family would retire from politics.

I feel the same about the Clintons.

Please, oh please, let Bush get the nomination.

Democrats have Hilary and who else...... Hmmm, the entire eggs in one basket. Wow!

'Cause Americana hate the name. With good reason.

Yup, and Obama and the word Dem/Lib is a strong second contender and catching up.

And that means Team Dem wins in 2016.

You think, seriously? Once Obama is out of office it'll be nothing but a miracle if a Democrat can get elected to anything for a very, very, very, very long time. Jeb Bush left Florida a gov. with an 80% high approval rating, speaks fluent Spanish, is very appealing to the Hispanic population, particularly with the Cuban community which is very powerful and to win the presidency you definitely need Florida. So the name may not be appealing for some people, but that's just a name. Jeb is neither his brother or his father and anyone that thinks these people are a single clone entity need to grow up. There are things I really admire about Jeb and some things not so much, but compared to what Hilary would do and bring to the country and after of 8 years of over the top, outlandish and destructive, far-left progressive moon bat policies, there is absolutely NO WAY on God's green Earth that Jeb could do much worse.

@athletes

You have a point, but also, it might not be necessarily a bad thing to have someone in office that knows their way around. Some people like it and some will hate it, there is a lot to be said about Dynastic rule no doubt, but in many cases, would a country be better to elect someone without any experience or political knowledge like Obama or Someone that could be for some people drag us into a war if need be, some might question it's legitimacy. Either way, regardless on what side of the fence you are, you will have some people that will take comfort in electing someone with experience like both Clinton and Bush certainly have or you might want to take your chance at someone that doesn't have a proven political track record. I don't think Americans want to try that kind of experiment again.

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

Last month, Bush announced plans to actively explore a White House bid

Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama and Bush or Clinton again. It is so boring and Dynastic rule. In the future, Obama jnr will bit for White House again. US needs new talent from non Bush, non Clinton and non Obama for the white house.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I wish they could have given Bill Clinton a third term. The Government hasn't passed an actual budget in what? 6 or 7 years? The official debt is just over $18 trillion with no end in sight.
