Israel annexed east Jerusalem after capturing it in the 1967 Mideast war, but no other country recognizes the annexation.

Do they give a damn about who recognizes what? Do they care about the international opinion? Or US opinion? Do they care about being fair? Are they model human beings, or a threat to world peace? I only have questions.

Are they model human beings

pretty much bottom of the barrel.

...or a threat to world peace?

Very much so.

I have been saying for years on this forum that Israel's actions over the decades have prevented peace with the Palestinians. That their blaming the Palestinians for everything was complete BS. It is now obvious that my views on this conflict have generally been spot-on. Hopefully people will start to ask themselves whether my views of other controversial issues were also correct.

It seems like the Israelis are full on dying to bring New Testament rhetoric onto themselves by aggravating the world and burning their bridges. That murder performed by the mossad with agents holding Aus and Brit passports in Dubai has basically turned me against Israel and yet here they are rubbing salt into the wounds of those who have supported them all these years. No wonder Iran has been quiet recently. Israel is doing a real good job defaming themselves. Arrogance like the world has never seen.

"Arrogance like the world has never seen."

I was expecting nothing else from fundies like Netanyahu. They're really crapping on their un-shakable ally the US here, but it must surely back-fire on them.

Zionists were allowed to settle in Palestine with the specific agreement that the rights and interests of the native Palestinian population would not be compromised in any way. Not only did they immediately ignore that part of the agreement, but they used brutal force to expel a large part of the Palestinians from their land.

International law, a number of U.N. resolutions, and common sense tell us that the Palestinian refugees must be allowed to return to their homes, villages, and land that were stolen from them.

Since it is now perfectly clear that the Israelis will not accept a two state solution, the only viable solution, and the only solution the United States should promote, is a non-racist democratic state in the whole of historic Palestine in which Muslims, Jews, and Christians are all allowed to live as equals under the law (unlike Israel which has for-Jews-only settlements and for-Jews-only roads).

Yeah like the Jews and Muslims and Christians would let that happen. Religion should be outlawed in that part of the world apart from in your own home.

You just have to admire how they do it. But then again we were also indignant and incensed of all common bankers 1 1/2 years ago... AND look at 'em now.

So, we have a building and property that belong to a Jew, and he wants to build an apartment building for Israelis to live in that he owns and is paying for, and the whole world gets upset because this man wants to do this with his own money, on his own property...What is wrong with everybody???

he wants to build an apartment building for Israelis to live in

You just answered your own question even though your question is naive and misses the point completely.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Oh well, there is only ONE Jerusalem but both sides all want 100%, no compromise, no giving concession whatsoever...the only thing will come for sure is disaster. What goes wrong, WILL go wrong.

bobbafett,...I didn't miss the point, that is the point...talk about being naive...sheesh!!!

“the only viable solution, and the only solution the United States should promote, is a non-racist democratic state in the whole of historic Palestine in which Muslims, Jews, and Christians are all allowed to live as equals under the law”

I don’t think anybody likes people that shout so you will forgive me for turning your quote into normal type rather than that dramatic bold type.

You being an expert on these things will know that the area you are talking about also includes what was once known as Transjordan, Jordan today. Are you therefore suggesting that Jordan join in with this idea of yours making one big happy friendly country where all the happy people will be so nice to each other? If you really knew what you were talking about and were honest enough to say it you would say that you want an Arab country totally free of Jews, because what you are suggesting would result in mass murder, not something that you would mind given that the victims would be Jews. What you fail to mention to the naïve on this site is that there has never been an independent country called Palestine so there really isn’t such a thing as “historic Palestine”. Palestine was the Dual British mandate, half control under UN administration the other half totally control by the British. Who having finished off the Turkish control of the whole area drew the lines that we today now see as frontiers.

However what we reading about here in this particular story is that a private individual who owns an old hotel has decided to demolish it and build apartments. This is not an Israeli government policy decision it is a private act and maybe you dislike what he is doing, but you cannot hold the Israeli government responsible for it.

By the way, the original UN decision on the patrician of this area left Jerusalem an international city not an Arab city or a Jewish city. The fact that the Palestinians want it for their capital has no more validity than Israel wanting it for their capital. It is not and never has been Palestine’s capital city and at the moment they are only saying that they want it knowing full well they have no chance of ever getting it, very probably as a way of blocking any possible peace agreement. We must all try very hard to remember that the Palestinians are not innocent children and they do have their own not always very nice agenda. Being gullible in the face of Arab propaganda does not give anybodies augments any credibility.

sabi: a non-racist democratic state

The Muslim Arab nations are the most racist, non-democratic nations in the ME. Why no criticism of these nations? What is it about the Jewish state that gets all your attention?

Israel is a democracy with every ethnicity and religion, including a million Muslims. Muslim Arabs are represented in the Israeli parliament, which actually has a mosque. Meanwhile, Muslim Arabs have destroyed any synagogues in their nations.

What complete and utter nonsense. When Israel was declared a state in 1948, it was the Muslim Arabs who launched an attack in an attempt to destroy Israel and ethnically cleanse the Jewish Infidels. This was simply a continuation of the Grand Mufti's quest from his former collaboration with the Third Reich. The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem instructed Muslim Arabs to leave the Jewish state in anticipation of the invasion. I guess they hadn't planned on losing the war.

Helter Skelter. Please don't confuse everyone with historical facts.

You being an expert on these things will know that the area you are talking about also includes what was once known as Transjordan, Jordan today.

No, you are referring to the British Mandate for Palestine, I'm not. BTW, Palestine existed long before the mandate.

If you really knew what you were talking about and were honest enough to say it you would say that you want an Arab country totally free of Jews, because what you are suggesting would result in mass murder, not something that you would mind given that the victims would be Jews.

No, am just saying that looking at Israel's current actions and of the past six decades, it seems that the only viable solution would be to return to what existed before the zionist takeover; a time when Muslims, Christians, and Jews lived together in peace. Anything else will only extend the suffereing and mass murder of Palestinians, which you do not seem to mind. Also, many true Jews today are against the existence of the state of Israel the decades; it goes against their religion.

We must all try very hard to remember that the Palestinians are not innocent children and they do have their own not always very nice agenda.

Their "agenda" is to have normal free lives on their own land.

By the way, the original UN decision on the patrician...

Yeah the one that was never ratified by the UNSC. Anyway, the UN, International Court of Justice, and essentially the whole world says clearly that Gaza, West Bank, and East Jerusalem belong to the Palestinians. Its not whining or quoting ancient religious texts that the Israelis will change these facts.

Also, many true Jews today are against the existence of the state of Israel the decades; it goes against their religion." And just what is a "true Jew" and why would they be against the land where their religion started?

Sabiwabi: a non-racist democratic state in which Muslims, Jews, and Christians are all allowed to live as equals under the law

Do you recommend that for all Middle Eastern countries or just Israel?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

they are rubbing salt into the wounds of those who have supported them all these years.

If they have been doing this to friends, imagine what is the life of the ones they hate... I think that religion and politics aside, this is the right time to fix the problems in that region. What's is UN, US, Russia and France waiting for? For a nuclear battle to start and then act? Well, perhaps I am not that wrong. A war in ME would be the perfect opportunity to reshape the map there.

Many? More like the tiniest of fraction of Jews. These are the Neturei Karta and the only time you'll ever hear about them is when neo-Nazis bring them up.
