I am surprised this kind of sh!t does not happen more often. We all have our bad days, I guess this Slater guy was really having a crappy day. I hope he writes a book and it becomes a movie and I can see it over the Pacific on my flight back to the USA some time this year!

Pittsburg to New York is not that long of a flight ???? What the heck ?

After JetBlue Flight 1052 landed in New York, one of the women who had been asked to gate-check her bag was enraged that it wasn’t immediately available, Turman said. “The woman was outraged and cursed him out a great deal,” Turman said. “At some point, I think he just wanted to avoid conflict with her.”*

Hahahaha !!! Funny story !!!! I'm laughing my arse off. youtube has a cgi renactment !!! Hahaha !!! Shouting profanity on the PA/MC system for everybody to hear. And grab the beers and pulled the emergency door and went down the slide. Hahahah!!!! Very funny !!!

I watched something like that during my last year's summer vacation. A woman was told to sitdown by 3 different airline attendants. She didn't have a kid or baby or whatever ??? She was kinda fat and idiotic.

My sympathy for the flight attendant. He should get an suspended sentence !!! No harm was done !!! Except he stole a few beers.

Flying brings out the worst in people and the added hassles post-9/11 made the situation nightmarish on the ground as well. It's a good thing the Civil Aeronautics Board makes it hard to carry pointed metal objects on board, or carnage would result.

Prosecutors said no criminal allegations had been made against the passenger.

That's unacceptable - the woman should be prosecuted. We know practically everything about Mr. Slater (even his sexual preference) yet the woman who started it all remains anonymous.

She was interfering with the operation of the air crew which is a punishable offense: http://www.justice.gov/usao/eousa/foia_reading_room/usam/title9/63mcrm.htm#9-63.110

Of course verbally harrassing people into illegal action is A-OK and you cannot put any blame on the harrasser.

In my world, instigators also get in trouble.

Well if he were going to be unprofessional about it I would have hoped he'd clocked the big mouth lady in the mouth before making his exit. Might as well go all the way.

Impressive. But it would have been even more so if he'd left the plane at 20,000 feet!

When you're going out...do it with style!

I think this guy did a great job. There are so many passengers with no common sense that fly. They are all so inconsiderate when it comes to others. So may of them reads a real wake up call to make them realize that they are not the only ones on the airplane.

America needs a monarchy immediately so that a Royal Pardon can be issued.

I was thinking America's pauper princes and princess need lessons in manners and respect immediately so they can stop being royal pains in the @$$!

American flight attendants could use a few lessons from the Korean flight attendants. They always treat you with respect, even if they have to be firm with you. Quite the opposite in the US.

Too bad he let this bitch mess up his retirement... he should have let it go.

Amazing how if Slater hadn't had the argument with the passenger before doing what he did, grabbing beer from the galley and sliding down the emergency chute, he would have been roundly criticized by everyone.

He actually acted the same as the woman he had the argument with. Both of them spoiled little princesses. As much as it's a great exit to a situation and a career he did end up costing the airline in down time with deploying emergency equipment unnecessarily. I think both he and the woman were stupid and should be made an example of by the airline industry to show restraint and respect from both sides is mandatory and no one side gets a monopoly on being rude.

He's supposed to be a trained professional. Yes the woman might of been an ahole, but that comes with any customer service/public safety job.

You don't just pop open the emergency door and jump down the emergency slide.

If this guy gets off because of the public media attention, think about the next time some guy does the same thing, worst, think if a middle eastern guy did it next time, you'll see a completely different media response to the story.

Agreed. This, not the yelling and grabbing the beer, is what is going to get him into serious trouble. Airlines don't have much of a sense of humor about these things.

“He was smiling. He was happy he’d done this,” Catelinet told NBC’s “Today.”

We'll see how much he's smiling after the sentencing.

I feel for the flight attendant.

How many times have you seen this scenario. Plane lands and rolls up to the airport. The Captain states to remain seated until the "Fasten Seatbelt" sign turns off. HOWEVER, right before the plane stops, all these idiots start standing up, grabbing thier overhead luggage and stand like zombies in the isle. Wow, grown adults that can't follow elementary school instructions.

Gurukun.

Myself seen it way too often. People want to be the 1st off the plane and their carry-on lugggage needs to be stored RIGHT above their heads, etc.

I prefer other side of the aisle easier to get to when I standup.

A flight attendant is really just a glorified waiter, and I feel sorry for them when they have to deal with such obnoxious people. Anyway, it's classic that he grabbed some beer on the way out.

Amazing, isn't it? It's not as if they're going to get off any faster.
